brice540iit
Hey guys Do i use the rear bail of the standard bindings for the front of the stepin binding retrofit? Thks for the help
lowrider
Not going to work ! Rear bale is deeper than toe bale so you will have very little contact with the boot toe, basically just the outer edges .
Lurch
Not a biggie, but SI toe block holds bail at slightly different angle too...(SI on left) Edited December 7, 2019 by Lurch
JRAZZ
Did that with my old Cateks that I converted to SI. You can bend them a bit with a vise and some loving attention with a hammer. Like the other said, it moves your foot a bit so make sure you are still centered when all is said and done.
lowrider
I have experienced a front boot disengage once and would hate to hear you experienced the same. Please make sure the bale conforms to the contour of your boot for optimum fit. It's not enough to for it to grab the outer edges of the toe it should also cross the toe of the boot front ledge.

Upz boots fit exactly like that. Center of bale does not conform to boot like F2
snowburn
Another thing about the two bales are the thickness of the blocks. Step-in toe blocks are thicker by 3mm

Lurch
@snowburn yep the bail on the right is a regular heel bail to give OP a comparison with a SI toe bail.
