TJR
Heading north to VT next weekend for a week from MD. Will be riding Stratton, Okemo, Killington and possibly Mt. Snow, recommendations for good carving runs? Looking for wide open, turn and burn
davekempmeister
I think the best way to determine where to go next week (anywhere in the east) might be to find a hill that has a freezing overnight temp. there aren't many, if any, that seem to meet that criteria. AlexJ
You may want to re-think your trip. Or at least the carving part of it. It's 50 degrees up here, and weather does not look promising next week. Stratton trail count went from 71 during last week to 57 today. Lots of bare spots, sink holes and the likes. Cover is thin and trails are narrow. I have heard MT snow is in way worse shape and Okemo is about the same. Killington would be the best bet for having snow, but it will be getting thin there in another week. Watch the local weather carefully check mountain conditions probably give up on anything resembling good carving. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. trailertrash
Carving is done at Sugarloaf so I'd imagine it's not any better at the more southern resorts.
Missionman
yeah -i'd be happy to get any runs at all let alone 'good' runs for carving. I'm at tremblant this weekend - nice spring conditions, but mornings were crusty groom. Afternoons were fun when the snow got soft but by then i was happy to surf over all the soft bumps. gonna rain here from tomorrow afternoon on - i think it will be brutal here after that, but you never know - i'll be gone by then
