As for Vail, if you get to the back bowls, China Bowl was a lot of wide-open fun, last time we were there. Also, take a break or lunch at the Two Elk Lodge. It's a monster eatery! Almost forgot the Grand Review Run back in Blue Sky Basin.

See you Sunday!

Tks! Vail is now on the schedule for Friday. I did not want to drive there today. Blue Sky Basin is definitely in the plan as will be Two Elk Lodge.

I'm so looking fwd to Sunday, Cody will have a hard boot setup on Sat too!

If you go to Vail I suppose that it may be worthwhile to pay for village parking if you are going with your son. That will put you in the best position for exploring the village on foot after you are done riding. Stop in the museum if you can.

Finally, A-Basin is owned by Canadians, so you can feel patriotic about going there.

Funny you should mention that, we got surveyed on the "guest experience" at A-Basin today and the guy doing the surveying mentioned that the employees at ABasin really liked their Canadian owners. They said staff were very well taken care off in relation to some of the other Vail resorts....it shows; I've been really impressed with the staff at all levels at ABasin and Loveland.

We will park in village for sure! After Breck and Beaver earlier this week and taking 40+ mins from parking to actually getting on the hill it's worth the extra $ for the way too short time I'm here

loopback, enough of this 'carving stuff', how'd you like the Blue River Special :D ...........sorry, couldn't resist..

Tomorrow AM....I had so much non carving stuff I wanted to do but the days are rapidly disappearing. I just got to the Bomber store for the 1st time today...... and WOW seeing all that carving gear and how it's made was the non carving hi-lite of the trip so far! Fin and Michelle were great to chat with and Cody and I really enjoyed our visit. (so much so that we are going back tomorrow so Cody can demo a hardboot setup on Fri/Sat)

My plan for the rest of the week is:

Thurs: Blue River Special/ Keystone/Bomber Store again

Fri: Vail/Dinner at Dillon Dam Brewery

Sat/Sun: Loveland/Dinner at Moes Orig BBQ in Breck

Only Loveland Sat/Sun is locked in stone. And I have to do Vail Thurs or Friday before my pass runs out. Keystone tomorrow will be a game time decision....we could go anywhere depending on the weather.

Thanks for the all the advice guys! I would have been so lost and wasted so much hill time otherwise.

Cheers

Done! Now that is a breakfast to start off a day of carving (beats the kale smoothies I have been having). We did our most vert feet (31,112) and most miles (35.3) today at Keystone and are contemplating going back for a few hours tonight. It can't be a coincidence, it had to have been the "Blue River Special"......Tks!

Sunday after riding I suggest going to the other candy store in Boulder. It truly is a sight with all the carve, powder, splits, boots, bindings, plates etc. Then the longboard skate side is very impressive too. Plan it.

Ink

It's in the plan too....all depends how long we ride Sunday and how many "recovery" drinks I consume after.... I longboard too so that's a big bonus

Howdy Paul,

If you're in Vail early and wouldn't mind company, I'd be stoked to meet you and Cody at 8:30am in Vail Village (base of Gondola One) for a couple carving runs. Happy to share local intel on favorite carving runs.

FYI 24" off this last storm. Look forward to a sensational day!

Spike carves with a duck stance. What's not to like?

Awesome! We'll be there. Cody will be on hardboots for the 2nd time in his life and neither of us have done Vail...from what I hear it's kinda big so local intel would be great!

Had an epic day with B-2 at Vail yesterday! Turns out we had met in Stowe 26 yrs ago when I learned to Snowboard!!

Cody rocked the hardboots in the morning and switched to the softies for the afternoon. B-2 and I rode the hardboots in terrain I never would have imagined hardbooting for the day.

We rode groomers, trees, bowls you name it. Rode from opening to close for the 1st time this trip.

A huge THANK YOU to B-2 for riding/guiding and just being awesome to hang with. We would never have covered the amount and variety of terrain that we did if not for you. The history and the local stories just made it that much more of a complete experience. We spent over an hour in the snowboard section of the Museum after riding....kind of weird seeing gear you used to own in a museum!

Cody was blown away by the museum too. DO NOT miss the museum if you are in Vail and have not been!!

Thanks again B-2!, yesterday was the hi-light of my 2 weeks and of Cody's two months here. The Stowe connection with you, and now Cody has reaffirmed my faith that we all live a Karmic existence......you my friend have accumulated a massive amount!

Cheers
