Any sign of GOOD winter?

After unusual winter we had last season, I searched for good credible weather forecast and "liked" the Farmer's Almanac in Facebook.

This is one of their post today.

http://www.farmersalmanac.com/blog/2012/08/06/what-are-you-seeing/

The blog post and FB's comments are basically saying that they are seeing signs that winter will come earlier than usual (About a month or so).

Hope this winter is long, cold, and snowy.

I just had ACL Reconstruction surgery on my left knee May 24th, and I am having the same surgery on the right knee August 23rd. I won't be cleared to ride untill mid to late February. That said, I'm sure it will be probably be a fantastic winter with several blizzards. I have been putting it off for 12 years now so I had to do it sometime.

Recover well and hopefully see you at slopes on Feb. coming season. Keep us update on Mid-Atlantic forum if you are ready to hit the slopes!

Hi

I am relieved to know others are looking at the snow forecast already:)

I am a fan of Piers Corbyn, Joe Bastardi and Joe D'aleo....anyway Joe Bastardi had predicted the 2009/2010 Winter very well..he didn't appear to be as adamant about 2010/2011...however, back in 2010 he did state that 2012/2013 Winter is going to be a big one in terms of snow/severity (including the UK)...woo hooo.... I hope so...

....interesting link here...http://www.accuweather.com/en/weather-news/combination-of-factors-could-m/36990

..I might just start buying food in bulk if the above link looks likely, hedge against future food price inflation:eek:

....note Joe Bastardi is now with Joe D'aleo at WeatherBell.

Well I know there are many of you 'wait and see what's outside the window' types and in reality that's all I can do...but I can't help but get absorbed into the forecasts...

...if the snow comes down like it's supposed to I might just dust down one of my 4 x 4's ...;)

....come on the snow...:lurk:........:lurk:.....come on the sssnnooooowww:sleep:

pius, this will be the first season in years I did not buy a season pass so that should pretty much guarantee everyone else an 'epic' season.

Somebody had to take one for the team :( ..

Oh... That's sad. But don't worry. A lot of resorts have ticket discount programs that you can advantage. such as 3 for $100 or 30-40% discount price program. I guess you are planning to go CO more often. right? Anyway, I may be able to go up Camel Mountain this season so If I go, I will pm you.

"frowny face" I want a fall like last year. We had gorgeous weather into November and had a stellar days mountain biking the last weekend of Oct.

I'd take a winter like last year's too. Western Canada did pretty damn well - I had the most powder days I've had in the 10 years I've been in Canada.

Allee

WHEN you do get another Winter like last year, could you throw some good vibes for the UK especially Scotland, and ask the Easterly Wind Goddess to blow some cold, cold wind our way...hopefully it'll pick up some precipitation off the sea and dump a whole load of snow for us too:biggthump...the UK did not have a good snow year last year:(.. but I live in great hope...;)

  • 2 weeks later...
24 degrees C during March Break pretty much summed up our entire winter. The worst on record. I'll take anything better than that at this point. Some snow in the city would be nice as well (my kids LOVE snow).

For the definitive Ice Coast forecast, we'll need to wait til Saturday October 20, when the "most predictive" woolly worm will be crowned.

Stay tuned for a near-live update on the 20th.

Awesome! Lets hope this stays true. The ice coast is due for a decent winter.

EDIT: Didn't catch that this was last years forecast. Did they ever get it wrong.
