Mr.E
Blue bird today. It's the middle of a little dry spell, but the groomers are good with generally good coverage. Beautiful weather, and you can see the corduroy from the parking lot. It was sweater weather until about 1 when the wind picked up a bit. Bryan- I finally got that Kessler out for the day. Very intuitive board, now I just need to remember how to ride! Saw a few other alpine riders, and had a good chat with Bob the lifty about his Identity. www.oldsnowboards.com
NICE report! Thanks for the photos and update. Looks really good E! Glad to hear the Kessler is back on snow!! Have fun! Say HI to Bob. He is a good guy! Bryan
Mike T
Good carving conditions off Sunrise/Rainbow today. Skyliner/Pine, not so much... although a Boilerplate makes up for bad grooming... ... Flying Dutchman is NOT GROOMED, despite what the report says, and they need at least a foot of sticky snow before it will be groom able again. Mike T
Was out again today. Leeway, Coffee and Cliffhanger are showing rocks... time to put the good gear away and go to a rock board, or at least something really turny. Grooming was excellent elsewhere though - certainly better than Bachelor's usual.
scubaree
Hey Mike how is it going over there any new snow?
Mike T
Nothing new of consequence. If you value your gear, stay on I5, TBird, and Carnival.
Mike T
As of yesterday I5 is the only rock-free, carveable run. NWS says 2 - 3 feet of wet, heavy snow over the next 3 days, TWC says nuthin' but rain. NWS, PLEEEEEEEEAAAAASSSSSSEEEEEEEE be right.
heroshmero
It's a sad end to December. Usually by this time the snow is really starting to stack up.
www.oldsnowboards.com
Yep, Mt Hood is hurting today too. Let's hope that there is some moisture left after the cold front arrives. I like Mt Bachelors "Sensors Page". Pretty cool. Nice photo of Gerry Lopez in the gallery. Mike T
My other half reports that the 9" today made all the difference in the world. Good base-building snow, not powdery. Grooming should be decent by Sunday.
www.oldsnowboards.com
Good to hear Mike!! Over a foot of new on Mt Hood today. Should help allot!!!
Mike T
Bachelor is back in business. Outback and NW have thin coverage and exposed rocks. The exit from Pine Marten is very windblown. But most of the front side runs are well covered again, I didn't hit nothing on the front side groomers all weekend. If the temps cooperate tomorrow could be a very good grooming day. Temps should be quite steady around freezing during grooming hours, and with it warming to 44 today, the snow on the runs got pretty well packed. Actually the first few runs today were great, but the new snow wasn't packed enough to hold up for long, and some of the moisture from the lower layers seeped up as it warmed up. diana
I'm planning to be at Bachelor on the 18th & 19th. Anyone else? How are conditions? Good enough for my Virus or is it my Sims? Thanks.
Mike T
As of today, coverage is decent but you have to watch for pebbles and small lava rocks. However, things could be very different by the time you get here: http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lat=43.982933852960805&lon=-121.6461181640625&site=pdt&unit=0&lg=en&FcstType=text Much like Tahoe, not much carving to be had during snowstorms. Keep an eye on the forecast!
Mike T
Unless the current forecast is very wrong, there is unlikely going to be any carving to be had on the 18th and 19th. Wind, low to no visibility, and mixed precip all look likely. Hopefully it stays just a shade cooler than the forecast predicts...
Keenan
Negative wind chill and snowing like mad currently
Mike T
Anyone make it out today? Bonnie and I will ride tomorrow assuming school is open. Our little one might find it too intense. Probably park at Sunrise and ride Sunrise and Rainbow.
