AutumnOrangeGT
So I just tried my soft boot setup for the first time this season... I took 3 boards to the hill including my old hard-boot ride. I've been using my Alpine board all year so far (Michigan is entirely groomed and icy trails) Tried out my Retro (new-to-me) Rusty Tri-Hull 170 -> it seemed a bit loose overall.... I kept trying to get low on the soft boots and the back binding would dig in throwing the back end loose. :( Also have a (new-to-me) Lib-Tech Doughboy that I'm looking to try out. Think I could throw hard boots on either of these? I may try it anyways and see what happens... I guess I'm just looking for some input (and the perfect board) for every snow surface, that may just be one of those mythical creatures that everyone dreams of though... Here's a pic' of the current arsenal. I'm also looking into a larger alpine board; the ancient 162 Burton is a bit short for me, and I want to make bigger circles! Keenan
You can put hard boots on any board, just don't put soft boots on a race board.
Bobby Buggs
During the 90s all I rode was free style all mountain boards or directional freeride boards with hard boots. Never had a problem. I called it power skidding :D
boardguru
I ride F2 Race plates and hard boots on my AM Rossignol Levitation 170 and 185 Rossi Undertaker swallowtail works great. It's like having power steering.
