west carven
howdy all interesting day today, snowed hard all day yesterday till about 7pm then no snow till early today. really soft groomers and a little powder off-piste. high winds from the south filled in tracks and made for a good pow day. foggy from halfway up and very light snow all day. forcast is alot more snow all week. rode my amp5 softies from 9 till 1... got a quarter size frost bite on my chin and jaw line where the chin strap collects some snow. this happened on saturday when i stayed all day. i was playing around and putting two hands down on each turn and kicked up some snow. did not feel it till sunday morning. west carven
howdy all didn'nt know what to expect today, like yesterday it snows all day and does not snow in the evening. snow was soft groomers from the past few days of some good dumps. greeted by thick fog in the morning and clear spots moving around. met up with notarealname and did a bunch of runs on eds and toni matt. first day on a new to me purecarve maverick 175, a very smooth ride. rode my purecarve maverick 175 from 9 till 1... west carven
howdy all had to work, but got cut loose at noon. it was foggy when i went to work at 7:30 and it cleared early at some point, must have been a good early morning. by the time i got on snow just after 1pm the groomers was bumped up. snow was kinda wet with the warm temps and the fog started its way down. took it easy and made a few runs. rode my 160speed from 1 till 3... west carven
howdy all woke up to an inch plus here in town and there was two to three inches on the big. thought it wouldn't be so bad on the hardboots, but with the dumps we had and the soft groom and new snow it got bumped up really fast. the fog is still here and was really thick on top. not the best day... rode my fp171 from 9 till 12:30... west carven
howdy all i was praying all night that it would not snow and it didn't, yeah!. supposed to be colder than normal but it was average for this time of year. had everything today, fog, light snow, and sunshine. groomers were in great condition all day. had a fun time and rode pretty hard. rode my 168m from 9 till 3... howdy cuban thanks for posting the pics. hope you had a great time in tahoe. looking forward to seeing you guys next year. west carven
howdy all i was hoping that todays snow report of three inches was during the early night as it dumped around 6:30pm for a hour or so here in town. it dumped after it was groomed on the big. things got bumped up pretty quick even with the light crowds. there was dust on crust on the off groom so the powder hounds cut up the groomers and left early. still had a fun day cutting thru the chops. rode my pcm175 from 9 till 1... west carven
howdy all had to work in the morning, but got cut loose around 12pm. got on snow about 1pm. it was clear on the summit as i left work, but as i got on snow the top was foggy and was slowly making its way down. going up chair 2 there was hardly anyone and eds looked like 9:30 in the morning. it must have been icy and everyone stayed away. it was kinda wet hardpack when i got there and started to slowly get soft. it was great groomers for 1pm. rode my 186 and was tentative at first, but after a few runs figured it out and at 4pm was pushing it really hard, didn't want to stop. started to snow about 2:30 and dumping hard at 3pm till i left at 4pm. rode my coiler pr2 186 from 1 till 4... johnasmo
A buddy from Minnesota was out here for a week, and I couldn't help but shoot some video last weekend... First I shot some follow cam on Saturday as we spent all day looking for fresh snow in the trees, then Sunday and Monday he shot a few runs of mine since I deemed them carving days. Caught a run with West on Monday too. <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/fIL7YZVXuRY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/SimGrxghJcE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/9Fnkxl4WLa0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

west carven
howdy all last night clear skies and no new snow. today bluebird and good groomers. it was just a bit icy on the lower half. huge saturday crowds, stayed mostly on chair 2 and took it easy. wasn't up to the task today, tired and my knees were bothering me. anyways, the sun soften up the snow, but did not get bumpy. groomers were still good at 1pm when i left. the sun was out all day and it was getting warm. rode my fp171 from 9 till 1... howdy buster glad you could make it back. i got monday and tuesday off and if its slow on wenesday i can do 1 till 4pm. spock you laters! k-den
west carven
howdy all had to work in the morning, but got cut loose around 11am. got on snow about 12pm. another beautiful bluebird day. so with the daylight savings time its was actually 11am on snow as time is critical now days. icy in the mornings, just right in the mid morning then soft in the afternoon then slushy in the late afternoon. wasn't too crowded when i got there, but the sunshine brought more people up to the big and was pretty crowded later in the day. variable snow conditions, but still very carvable. had a great time. rode my fp171 from 12 till 3... west carven
howdy all kinda knew it would be sucky after yesterdays sun slush surf. today cloudy and colder and windy and the groom was frozen ice sheets. the colder temps and cloud kept the snow firm all day. only the very top and the backside was carvable. spent the day slip sliding and working on my vertical. forcast is rain here in town, but our forcaster is never right. rode my fp171 from 10 till 3... west carven
howdy all again, knew it would be sucky. polished ice on most of the mountain. only the backside was good. the frontside was ice sheets with wind blown soft sutff here and there. started to snow a little around 11am then wet rime about 12pm. made a few runs an called it early. started to rain in the village about 1pm. forcast is alot of rain/snow tonight, lets hope... rode my fp171 from 10 till 1... west carven
howdy all kinda forced myself to go up today. there was brewfest from 1 till 5pm so kinda had to go. $25 dollars at the door to help fund the snowbus, so had to go and support it. bunch of local microbrewers from around the area made for a fun day cause the frontside was polished ice sheets and only the very top and the backside was good enough to carve. very high overcast in the morning than started to snow around 11:30 and kept dumping thru 5:20 when i left. it was just cold enough so it wasn't too wet. made a few runs on the backside. rode my fp157 from 10 till 1... brewfest from 1 till 4:30... west carven
howdy all woke up this morning thinking its getting to be a chore to go up only to find polished ice. got up to the big and there was very high winds down at the baselodge and thinking its going to be a short day. it was snowing sideways from the north east. the groomers were icy firm and on top of that was a few inches of wind blown snow. stayed on chair 2 all day cause the summit looked brutal. it was very carvable and had a great day. temps were cooler as we are in storm conditions... rode my 160speed from 10 till 12:30...
