KMACK
Is there a way to calculate the SCR if the nose/waist/tall and running length are known? I can not find any info on my Rossi 165 Alpine.

pebu
If you have those measurements handy there will be a race of people opening up their favorite 2d or 3d drawing/modeling software to give you an answer if you don't already have this software. KMACK
Pat D Thanks....I think. Tip 26.5 Waist 21 Tail 25.75 Running length 144.5 If some one could figure out my SCR it would be great. Thanks, KMACK
pebu
After some stupid mistakes on my part... It looks to me like it's about 20m. That seems huge to me, but I guess not unheard of. I also board on a small (sub 500ft) crowded hill, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.
BlueB
SCR = 10.2 m
Call me jack
how about this nose 20 waist 18 tail 20 effective edge
BlueB
That last one doesn't sound like a realistic board... Anyways, for those who do not have CAD, use NateW's calculator: http://www.natew.com/pages/software/snow/html.Reverse
leeho730
http://www.math.utah.edu/~eyre/rsbfaq/physics.html From the website above: L = length of the contact line d = sidecut depth Rsc = sidecut radius then the sidecut radius is Rsc = (L^2/4 + d^2) / (2*d) So, for the board with the following spec: Tip 26.5 Waist 21 Tail 25.75 Running length 144.5; It would be 9.5m and 11m if the board does not have a taper and has dual radius sidecut. Or probably 10m.
BlueB
What do you mean "if it doesn't have taper"? It does have the taper - see the spec. To work out the SC depth one should add up tip width and tail width, divide by 2, deduct the waist width, and then divide by 2 again. Then use as "d" in your formula. NateW's says 10.18, too, so I wasn't out with my CAD thing. As for the dual and other funky sidecuts, it is easiest to ignore them and just work out the average... Galen
Nate from this site has a pretty good one I use. http://www.natew.com/pages/software/snow/html.Reverse

I mean, if I ignore the taper on the board when calculating the scr.
pebu
Aha! That's why it seemed so big. My proe defaults to diameter. Sidecut DIAMETER is 20. I wonder what I was smokin to miss that.
KMACK
Thanks to all who responded. Math like that hurts my head. KMACK

Not that I'm biased or anything. :D
