tex1230 Posted January 19, 2010 Report Share Posted January 19, 2010 if those are brass inserts, they are notoriously soft and prone to stripping from over-tightening or cross-threading. The Madd metals that were at the last ECES were all stripped. If it's not a hole you're going to use, don't worry about it. if it is, you could helicoil it or try to re-tap it. With Madd, the sidewall color or year of vintage can't always be used to be certain of what's in the board. From the picture the inserts definitely seem to have that brass color. I can't read the red text though. If that's one of the inserts you wanted to use, you will be able to get very close to it with the other inserts and the other holes in the bindings.
