Keyser Soze
... what would it be? I live about 4 hours away (Ottawa, Canada), my brother and I are thinking of making a trip down there for a weekend in Jan. What's the verdict? polaris
Stratton is the Carving Capitol of New England. Note that it is expensive, but you will likely find other carvers there to ride with. Other good choices are Killington and Stowe. YMMV
Gecko
stay north Kmart isn't bad, I know people either like it or loath it, I'm in the latter category because the good stuff is too spread out and it has a high Joey count, Stowe would be my choice, but I really like the place
Keyser Soze
Yeah, I think staying in the North would be better. Stratton is over 6 hours away from where I live, I think Smuggs is like... 4.
Paulk
If I could go anywhere in VT..... Jay peak. Scary good carving, Great natural snow cover, Legendary trees, way away from all those Long Islanders(joeys)!!! And a bonus, I think they offer our friends from the north lift tickets at par.. Of course, if you are looking for a party or night life better go to Killington/pico.
JoeK.inVt
Stratton, Stowe, Jay. Killington sucks, only good thing about it is the bars/nightclubs. You can find a good bar at most mtns. anyway.

Halfway through my second trip there, I just kept thinking "Why the hell did I come back here???"
willywhit
agree, Jay Peak at par would be 1st choice. Nobody mentioned Sugarbush. Close to exit 10 off 89, great trees and groomers. There's a bunch of good bars for happy hour, too. Close enough to Mad River, you get a nice chill hippy flavor. You said you like Amsterdam , right ? martyagt4
I'm pretty sure I'll never come to Killington again.

Sugarbush is 5+ hours away, so that may be a bit much, but for Amsterdam... hmmm...
