  1. They are Donek only now and yes, they do demos.
  2. "I'm never wrong. Once I thought I was wrong, but it turns out I was mistaken" :D
  3. I saw you twice, but was unable to flag you down.
  4. Both are good. Shon at BootPro Specializes in bootfitting and has a very good reputation in Ludlow. Gary at Startingate has no shortage of fans on BOL, as I'm sure you've seen. Either way I think you're safe.
  5. If you're the guy on the black Donek Axis/Axxess, then that was me.
  6. I would guess about 100 in Vt, at least 3 or 4 work at Okemo. my brother and 3 of my cousins ride HB as well. If he did, do you think anyone would buy them? I know I wouldn't. He obviously has no loyalty to the sport that he played a large part in creating.
  7. I find myself in SoVt everyday! I'll have to stop in and hit the gates sometime. Is that only on weekends? Hope to see you on the hill. If you see a lift supervisor on a yellow Donek, that's me.
  8. Stratton, Stowe, Jay. Killington sucks, only good thing about it is the bars/nightclubs. You can find a good bar at most mtns. anyway.
  9. Tuckered out is not open yet, but they started to work on it yesterday so maybe it will be open by next week.
  10. Nice to see you too Gleb, maybe next time. I did actually get out on my board later that morning, but didn't see you anywhere. By the way, one of those Proton riders was a friend of my cousin. Weatherwise, it's getting better. We had a nasty ice storm thursday night, with over an inch of ice in some places on the mountain. Rain late yesterday, froze overnight. After tomorrow temps should stay below freezing for over a week at least (according to the forecast). Maybe I will see you next week.
  11. 33 degrees this morning, the forecast was for ahigh of 28 today. That sucks!
  12. That's pretty much what I was getting at. OK, 2 sizes, not 3. My mistake. The point I was trying to make was to get the right size shell (not only length, but width also) and the liners can be customized even if they are not heat moldable.
  13. We bounce back pretty quick. Okemo's groomers are some of the best I've seen, and I have worked at more than a half dozen resorts in the last 20 years.
  14. Stopped raining about 4pm yesterday, temp dropped overnight, started snowing about 2 hours ago, 25 degrees now (12:45), so far so good!
  15. Liners can be modified to fit your foot exactly, it's the shell that needs to be the right size. Usually a shell will be able to fit 2 or 3 liner sizes, that way they don't need to make as many sizes of shells. Just make sure they know what they are doing. A reputable bootfitter, not a chain store sales associate.
  16. That's taller than my oldest brother (6'6"). I'm the shortest brother at 6'3". I hadn't even considered the weather other than temps. I looked at weather.com and what it shows for Ludlow is rain until tonight, ending around midnight just after changing over to snow, cloudy until afternoon tomorrow when it starts snowing, light snow for the first few hours but getting heavier in the evening and continuing overnight through afternoon friday. looks like hard and fast thursday and soft on friday, both have advantages and disadvantages, your choice.
  17. It's raining here today (wednesday), so you may want to make it friday to have the extra day for conditions to recover. Our groomers are very good, but two groomings after the rain are better than one.
  18. I've got the kids on the 11th, but I will be working on the 12th, so I may be able to take a run or two with you if i'm not busy. I'll be the one in a lift ops jacket, wearing a radio and riding a yellow Donek FC1 179.
  19. The Muellers have a 40 year lease-back agreement, so they're not going anywhere. (ORLANDO, Fla.) Dec. 5, 2008 - CNL Lifestyle Properties, Inc., a real estate investment trust (REIT) focused on lifestyle properties, announced today its acquisition of the privately held assets of three ski and mountain lifestyle properties: Vermont's Okemo, Colorado's Crested Butte and New Hampshire's Mount Sunapee. CNL Lifestyle Properties is purchasing the resorts from family-owned Triple Peaks, LLC and leasing the properties back to Triple Peaks to manage the ski, golf, hospitality and conference operations under a long-term lease. This is just the first paragraph of the press release. the rest of it is here: http://www.okemo.com/okemowinter/pressroom/newsroom/CNL.asp
  20. Yeah, I would have to agree, they're one of the best shops out there. I got both of my Doneks, my Cateks and my Head boots from them. It's sometimes hard to believe they are actually a ski shop. My cousin has been getting his ski equipment there for 30 years. everyone who goes there, skier or snowboarder, says they are the best.
  21. I don't even thread the kingpin until the cant/lift screws are set. Works for me! I never have a problem with loose screws either.
  22. I'm not really familiar with F2s, but TDs and Cateks are definitely more technologically advanced than most other bindings out there. Older style bindings had the toe and heel of the binding touching the board, that kind of defeats the purpose. Modern style bindings (TDs and Cateks) eliminate that problem. It just comes down to some bindings being better than others.
  23. Your ankles are closer to your heels than your toes, so you are actually standing closer to your heelside edge. That is why you chatter only on your toeside edge and an offset sidecut (asym) will not fix that. Although, stiffening your boots can help.
