scotts.Scheinman
Sweet! Now I can just combine 2 addictions into one  so true
Derf
I'm there also. The thing about the profiles is that you can only see the profile of your friends and people in you network (depending on pricacy settings). You can also temporarily see the profile of someone who sends you a message for a month.
two_ravens
Not sure I'm addicted exactly - just finally posted a pic after 14 months! It is pretty cool though that some long lost kayaking friends have found me through facebook.... MUD
So I have been on FB for a little while now, I share pics with family and a few friends. I really don't understand what people see in it..... Is it a if you have to ask, you won't understand thing????? I could really care less about finding old friends, If I wanted to find them, they wouldn't be old. It seems like just another way to communicate with people without actually having to talk to them. HOWEVER, I am probably the only person I know who doesn't own a mobile phone, so facebook is a pretty convenient way for me to check my messages. It's an easy way for people to invite other people to gatherings/events and for the organizers to plan accordingly based on who accepts/rejects the invitations. Also, as bad as it is when embarrassing pictures pop up, people always do want to see whatever hilarious pictures were taken on any given night out, and f-book provides an easy alternative to attaching them to emails and sending them to everybody you know, then having to dig them up later and re-send them to the people you missed, blablabla... Cool. I see. I totally understand about the whole picture thing, makes it pretty smooth..... The other stuff is social, which I am not very. So it is lost on me, but still makes sense. NMU Alpine Boarder
So I have been on FB for a little while now, I share pics with family and a few friends.I really don't understand what people see in it..... Is it a if you have to ask, you won't understand thing????? I could really care less about finding old friends, If I wanted to find them, they wouldn't be old. It seems like just another way to communicate with people without actually having to talk to them. If you had it in college, it would be a lot easier to understand For me, it started out as a way to network with people in my classes... It made it real easy to get notes from a lecture you missed, or to organize a study group... That same type of communication structure naturally transferred to my friends as well... It was a way to advertise a party or event... Instead of calling people you could get in touch with 30 people with a few keystrokes... You would then get home and add the people you met at said party and expand your friendship network... As mentioned, it is a great way to share photos and stories from your adventures as well... For those of us 25 and under, I guess this just how we work :(

As mentioned, it is a great way to share photos and stories from your adventures as well... For those of us 25 and under, I guess this just how we work :( for a handful of faithful carvers here on BOL that are also sporting 100's of friends on FB, you'd better tack on another few decades. seems like, the older ya get, the more people you know. if facebook existed when we were in college in the 80's the network would be insanely huge.I only stay in touch with a handful of people I knew in high school and college and I went to a huge high school and a huge college. Never bothered with those silly reunions, either. I wish I could actually meet more of the people I've gotten to know on these forums over the years. email, video chat and even the phone call isn't the same as sitting on a chairlift chatting or having beers after a day on the slopes or on the water. the world is getting smaller and smaller and this cyberspace stuff is kinda weird but also very cool. How many people do you know that you originally met over the internet ? how many couples got together, even got married that met over the internet ? The weirdest thing , I think , is finally meeting someone at a carving event and they're not at all what you imagined them to be like based on what they seem like online. And then, after carving all day with a group and everyone has their helmet, goggles and neck warmer on and you meet later at the bar and dinner, it's hard to remember faces, you remember the board they were riding and the jacket/helmet they had on. You've spoken with them on the chair but don't really remember the face. it's like ...oh, right...you were on the big blue Coiler with the Quiksilver jacket and the helmet with all the stickers, blue goggles, right ? yeah, that was me maybe it's called FACEbook because you can post all your pictures and people get an idea of what you're all about:rolleyes:
Speedzilla
I had an account from several months ago, I finally updated it tonight and added some friends. I can see how this could spiral out of control. ;)
Allee
The best part about FB for me is the status updates. I have a ton of overseas friends and none of us really has the time to sit down and write emails to each other ... but update your status daily, have the odd wall to wall, and presto, everyone knows what you're up to - and it takes a couple of minutes. Awesome. And no, you don't have to be under 25 to use it. Us oldies are addicts too.

two_ravens
I had an account from several months ago, I finally updated it tonight and added some friends. I can see how this could spiral out of control. ;) Yup, I was doing OK when I only had one friend on FB, and neither of us ever posted anything. Just added a few friends and now the spiral down the rabbit hole has begun.... Is there a 12 step group for facebook users? Maybe we should start one now, while a few of us can still sort of function in the world...

photodad2001
Seen a lot of 80's mag posts on this thread. But have any of you heard of any of these vocabulary words? First off there is "Radudical". Simply put, it's a sentence put into one word. "Radudical" means... That was total rad dude! Second. "Burbage". Pronounced "Bur-Budge". You may have already figured the pronunciasion (sp?) out. It means a "pleathera" or "a lot of". You can also pluralize it by saying "Burbagiz" or "Burbagise". Example: Tex has a burbage of planks in his sheath. And finally third. The infamous "Esadype". Pronounced "Ee-sah-dipe" This one is local to skaters and snowboarders of Dayton Ohio and is actually initials for the following statement. Eat **** And Die You Penis Erection. All of these words have been brought to you by "Team Fab" A.K.A "Team F#*& a B#*%^". Original members are Doug Edgington, Chris Brundrette, Rob Dyrdek, and Jeff Storost.
