MUD
Same here...... IP: 216.255.179.
rhaskins
the ip address appears to belong to a block from a company called intercage.com, they appear to be a hosting service out of Concorde, CA. That is what my tools tell me at first whack. Rick

Steph
me too!! What's up with this Fin??
trailertrash
Fin can tell more than I can but it appears as though the system worked. Somebody got a list of usernames and guessed at passwords to them. More than likely by the numbers they did this programatically. Fin will ban the IP it came from but that is not that big of a deterent. Best advice as with any computer system, change your password often and don't use anything easily guessable. Use odd characters and no dictionary words. If you feel your account was breached please let us know. Thanks John
Fastskiguy
Tried on my account too, this was the incentive to make a long and crazy password instead of a simple one so maybe it was a good wake-up call.

trailertrash
Also, the ip doesn't match any accounts here.
queequeg
Same here. Probably a bot using some kind of brute-force mechanism to see if it can find users with weak passwords for spamming.

Gtanner
same here... I feel violated....well not really. But seriously, what would a hacker gain by getting access to a snowboarding forum?
queequeg
same here... I feel violated....well not really. But seriously, what would a hacker gain by getting access to a snowboarding forum? Incite flame wars to their hearts content? Probably just trying to hijack vetted users so that they can post spam links.
Steve Dold
Maybe they are testing a cracking tool. I got one too. Or they're just bored.
BrendenSD
Someone tried to hack into my acct this morning. IP address 216.255.179.130 What's going on here?
philw
Same here. I guess they're harvesting account names from the board and trying them all. I just switched my password here to one from "PasswordMaker" which is pretty safe from most attacks, plus if they nail that one they haven't a hope of getting into any of my other accounts.... I just banned that IP from my own forums.
