Paulk
all just for fun. Dave, our secret 3:30 groom @ Buttermilk is safe with me. Steph, Pizza isn't the same without you. And finally, it's true. There are no friends on a powder day...
RDY_2_Carve
NEVER go to Colorado unless you have a "Powder Alternative Board"!! Looks like an amazing time. Funny how it's bluebird skies at Highlands on Wednesday then a powder day on Thursday. That was exactly how it was in 2006. Now if Friday it's cold, windy, and overcast? That would be really wierd. I will not be missing 2009 even if it means dragging the wife and kids with me!

carvedog
Tried to get out of Ketchum on Wednesday to head down. I knew I could drive until late, get up early and catch some runs on Thursday too. Tried to leave by 2:30 actually left Bellevue right at 4 pm. Ok this is still manageable. I figured slow down and extra couple of hours for the weather - no prob. Black ice and drifting, starting where they had I-84 closed. Ok got to Pocatello. Add 1.5 to two hours. Get to I-86, head south. Seems to clear unlock hubs. Drive 2 miles until full on horizontal blizzard. Relock hubs, 4WD the rest of the time. Snow all the way to SLC, not hard but blowing around a lot. The closer to SLC, more cars abandoned everywhere. Trucks in median in a couple of places, snowing just hard enough to make slushy piles to pull you around. Pass wicked 3 car pileup with a truck. One car on top of concrete divider that tried to do 50/50 grind thing. Two ambulances leaving when I got there, but no one upside down. Get caught in crazy snow plow convoy. 3 wide in front and one somewhere behind me on the shoulder. Can't pass. Can't pull over. Can't tell where the shoulder is. Can't tell where shoulder plow will go. Can't roll anything, too scared. Can't tell the car behind me to get off my ass. I hate cants. 2 am and 10 hours later I am still just the other side of SLC, which should take 4-5 hours in good weather. Shiiiiiteeee. Take Hiway 6 to Price. Pass sign that says hiway closed at Mile Marker something. F*ck. Flag down a local and he says that it should be open now it was just closed for a few hours for the multi-car wreck earlier. Fouble duck. I continue. Snowing harder, becoming snow hypnotized. Large truck scares the sh!t out of me going by at about 50. How do they see. It is about 6-8 inches deep powder and pulling me around. I can only manage about 25 to 30 mph. Ok I'm done. Going back to SLC. Ride Snowbasin for two days. Yeah. Sorry about missing the Session, will try again next year.

Paulk
The friday night banquet went well. Food was great, the games were competitive(I didn't know you could do THAT with play-doh...) and lots of boards were given away. Saturday morning I headed to the airport in Vale to drop off two friends, then continue on to Beaver Creek....It would have been a great plan had I not left my boots in Aspen.....Anyways, while I suffered in rental ski boots, all my thoughts were focused on the week prior....
