how does a pirate make decisions?

...

arrrrrrrrrrrrrrbitrarily

Well yes, but that's only part of the story. In point of historical fact, pirates had quite the democratic system of government.

When the needed to reach a collective decision, pirates would arrrrrrrrrrrrrrticulate increasingly arrrrrrrrrrrrrrcane arrrrrrrrrrrrrrguments until they had either arrrrrrrrrrrrrrived at consensus, or consumed all of the rum.

If the rum ran out before consensus was reached, the Captain was required to arrrrrrrrrrrrrrbitrate.

I heard they were anarrrrrchists that wore arrrrrrgyle socks and at one point successfully negotiated an arrrrrrmistice with the celts. Is that true?
