  1. the guy aught to be tossed out no benifits no pay no schooling no nothing. accept maybe some phsyco help
  2. i have had good luck with a marine epoxy still a two part but it has held for three years for me with about 50-60 days on it. I applied liberally clamped it over night with a couple shims and c clamps pulled everything apart the next morning and did some light shapping of the area with a sharp blade and a millbastard file. the repair has a white color but it was better than the alternative.
  3. Looking for either a f2 silberfil or a speedster SL Longer is better but let me know what you have. Also looking for a TD1 stepin.
  4. I have a Nidecker adn rode the WCR at SES i do perfer the Nidecker as i ride in the midwest on shorter narrow trails all the time. But i also am biased to a shorter turning board. My girlfriend calls me a turn freak.
  5. your pole comment is interesting. i have cut my poles way off, as short or shorter than mogal competitors. My logic is that with the shape skis I want to stay lower or heavier on my skis adn let my legs extend and retract with the eb and flow of the G forces. keep my hips lower adn allow my cross through to happen quick with out a rise or unweighting?? i watched some world cup slalom and GS and the winners seemed to stay on a heavy ski all the time adn looked like they were smoother.
  6. I think learning to ski is easier than boarding. i feel like the inputs required to make a snow board turn are the exact same as a ski. just your orientation is different, so you have to adjust how you input it. each ski is one snowboard, only you have to get in touch with your feminine side and multi task to do both feet at the same time. like a snow board small movements and adjustments can have large results. A lesson is a good idea and often free to beginners. it will give you the basics but also give you some tactics for handeling the skiing differences in locomotion, lifts etc. if you can get on some shorter shaped skis i bet you will enjoy it. the carving on skis is just as much fun as hard bootn. and the skidding sucks just as much. Any in line skating or ice skating is good cross training for skiing.
  7. late chime in But I worked with a guy who got a scholarship to CC for ski racing. he skied for them for four years adn went to work in the "real" world, working in Telluride. We skied together in a fun pro am event where some retired world cup guys/gals stacked the tellco team adn Joe, this kid who went to CC we thought would be our saving grace. he got smoked (1+sec)by a gal who was several years older than him and had been retired for several years. The pros play a game at a totally different level that most of us can't even imagin... If you have ever seen Jordan play live you know what I'm talking about. The great ones are often several steps ahead of the compitition in their play and anticipation of what is comming and where to be next. i feel like many of them have perfected systems to a much higher level than the rest of us in their performance. Gretz, Mario, tiger, Jordan, Mira, Hawk, White, etc humbley:o
  8. MMMMM----Miagi thinks answer own qustion carverson... Sounds like you answered your own Q's ....... do exactly that. Perhaps tell your camera person to go down further and keep eyes peeled for you or if you have a third let them spot where they can see you comming and see the camera person too. get a cheap set of motorolla walkie talkies so you know when they are set. That way you can get into your rythm. I have several runs at my home hill that I can't stop at a half way point or it messes up the run and breaks my rythm.
  9. Welcome aboard I have not been posting long but have been riding for 5-6 seasons taught and rode soft for about 8-9 seasons. There are many others who are much more qualified than I to advise but here's my 2 cents. The most note worthy thing I have told others about your first time on hard boots, is you will feel more like a passanger than a pilot for the first hour or so. hang in there it will pass and when it dose you start piloting the board. Soft boots are akin to riding a motocross bike. hard boots are akin to riding a cafe race bike. both really fun in their right environment but totally different beasts. Start on runs that you would consider very very easy for the first 15 min or so. Board length is really up to you adn what you like to do. Generally speaking for GS/ Nastar type racing I would suggest something in the range of 166-177 with about a 13-15m side cut. As you improve you can always move up in length as you get more speedy. this is all very subjective though and I know several racers who started on shorter used boards untill they got used to hardboot seet up. lots of people selling used stuff here and several on ebay from time to time. bomber close outs and Demo's is a great way to get great equip and you know it will be good. With boots the best piece of advice I would have liked to have had in the beginning was to get a boot that is intec compatable so that you can get step ins if you want. Hope this helps i am sure many others will have great advice too. good luck:biggthump
  10. I first saw this about a year ago and loved it then. Still think it looks like fun. I am not claiming to get anywhere near as low as this, but it is a lot of fun to try. I generally spend my am on the board, then switch up to my skis for pm. i have played around with it and tried to get better outside ski engagement by adding just a bit of hip rotation by retracting the inside ski, opening the inside leg, and driving my outside hand into my outside thigh. Still working on the blend but it's comming along. Also worked hard on eliminating the rise between turns while maintaining as centered of a stance as I can, but fresh legs are a must. This past weekend my knees started to feel tired by 330 and called it a day before it was too late.
  11. never made it even close to a double. felt pretty good bout the single. sweet pic on the belly side.

    Cascade & Tyrol

Cascade has gret carving too. Best snow making in the area adn the high speed quad geneerally gives you more on snow time. We have been carving there for the last 5-6 years. Sundays we are there every week
  14. I think this could also be a calling to have a midwest ecs at IH of course.
  15. We used to pull this off pretty regularly. We called it a Watikki like the show waterski stunt of skiing all the way around the boat. We found it helps if you can carve up a slight double fall line allowing you to start down the auxilliary fall line at the beginning of the last third of the turn. if you cna follow that you aught to be able to pull it off. Short turn radi tools are a must.
  16. Hi Al, Mary wanted me to pass along her dissapointment with the patrollers actions at Indianhead. As a patroller herself she feels that patrollers earn the priveledge of patrolling through their volenteer efforts and saftey training. Too many take this privledge as a power trip thinking that they are some authority at the hill adn allowed to "police" the hill. They are there as a part of the risk management team, and therefore do have to enforce "rules" for the area. They are there to provide for our saftey and act as first responders in the event of an accident. I feel that the patroll and mangement at Cascade has made an outstanding effort to train patrollers to be much more customer service focused They also have done a ton of work to teach proper skiing and snowboarding skills, and requiring ongoing training each season. And it shows. i have been the Snow Sports Director at Three midwest areas adn been a part of the ski schools at both Telluride and Snowbird. Cascade was the only one in the midwest where patroll Directors adn Ski School Director had good open dialog to improve the most visible example of skiing and snowboarding the public sees. (What a self rightous pile of.... i am) Anyway you seemed like you handeled it in a bussines like, sofisticated way as i would have expected from what I know of you. well done. A brief letter to NSP to find out who is the regional rep for the Indian Head area and a FU letter might find its way into the Rusty Parka, a newsletter to all NSP members starting a dialog amongst themselves and their pivital roll in growing and furthering the Snow Sports Industry through the example that they set. A goal we should all keep in mind. by the by email me would ya tom.waldbillig@sbcglobal.net
  17. Thanks email your way:biggthump Thnx
  18. I'm looking for a pair of intec compatable step ins. I would also be interested in some 6 deg disks. Needs to be 4 hole. Thnx.
  19. How much do you hope to get? What bumpers do you have if any? Tom
  20. Board is brand new this season and has a 13 m radius. Board is AAA no blems no scratches, and only has three days on it. Board is very solid and stable at speed and loves to go fast. I prefer a tighter radius thus the sale. I may also be too light for it as I am only 135lb. Asking $575 but I will cover shipping in the USA.
  21. I have a brand new 68 RS that I would sell. I have three days on it, and would perfer somthing with a smaller radius. Very solid stable board, very fast with great hold just a bit too long of a side cut for me.
