  1. I know these are far from race boards but it`s the only example of rocker I can find right now.... http://www.lib-tech.com/banana/ What`s up with that?
  2. OK, I understand camber. BUT, I have no idea about the new boards with ROCKER!!! (The diametric opposite of camber). How the hell does that work in the snow?
  3. I didn`t understand the thing about hardboooting not being surf related?? That`s the whole reason I ride hardboots, It`s the only way I could turn as hard as you can on a surfboard. Anyway, that was a good article overall considering the demographic to which the magazine is aimed.
  4. What`s that thing that comes with old age and tireless application of ones self to ones work? Wisdom! I reckon you`ve probably just taken things to the next level of Zen Mastery! Stoked! Your going to make even more people even happier.
  5. The first thought that springs to mind is the Kesslers. Don`t they have comparatively stiffer and straighter tails? Do the Kesslers initiate turns in a way similar to a D1? Next thought, my guess work about Kesslers is probably way off the mark so ... if you wanted to make an alpine board with turn initiation similar to a D1 does it just need a Radial sidecut and or taper with a stiffer tail and softer between the feet? Is that not the right line of thought?
  6. Excuse the thread jack but I want to ask a Dupraz related question... I`ve just picked up an original D1 and did a hike to the snow line to try it out. I was shocked at the way it turns! It turns much more like a surfboard or a skateboard than any other snowboard I`ve ever ridden. My question is, HOW? does it turn like it does. For me, I love it. I would love to find an Alpine board that turned like the D1 does. Technique wise I mean.
  7. I went to see a boot fitter first. The quote to get my boots to fit was $600:( And the boot fitter wanted to use heat moldable liners because they were the best thing ever.... $200 bucks. How does that saying go? Oh..... I remember. If you want something done right, do it yourself!
  8. I actually bought mine two years ago and there looks like there has been many changes to their lineup. I bought the thickest ones first and they caused a bit of pain on the top of my foot because of "over volume". The next time round I ordered a 3 pack of all different styles and found the middle thickness ones were perfect in the Head boots volume wise. I think they are called the "SOLE Regular Softec" The high volume ones went into my packed out softboots and made them better than new. The other two pairs went into "normal" boots. Have a look at the clearance section...... the ones that are now 15 bucks are the ones I have.
  9. I got some of these. Heat moldable, custom fit, cheap! http://www2.yoursole.com/products/footbeds/ I`m in the same boot as you and for me these are a dream come true.... I can`t imagine getting a better fit no matter how much money I threw at it. I have them in my softboots and my work boots now to.
  10. I always think "western gun fighter" stance. Once that`s locked in so is the carve.
  11. I know nothing more about it. It just showed up on the Yahoo Japan auctions yesterday. It`s kinda lame how Head has Boots and Bindings and now Boards for us but you can`t find anything about them on their website.......
  12. Anyone here heard or seen the new line of Head Alpine boards? I have both boots and bindings from head and love them both. I wonder how the new alpine boards ride? Quote" HEAD BERSERK 162.5 07/08 new. Intelligence model equipped with the technology."
  13. I`d say that ranks him as a far cry from a "wantabe". Bad pronunciation aside, 。。。Excellent work! Stoked for him.
  14. After reading another thread where the subject was touched on........ Is anyone able to make a torrent or two for the whole world to get access to some high quality carve footage? Youtube is to quote another poster "craptacular" if your trying to see what really going on during a carve. I`d love to see anything that you guys might have . I`m sure some of you must have some great video footage of yourselves that would make for great viewing so that those of us that don`t see other carvers can really see some style in action. Just a thought...........
  15. Dive bombers on it. Full face MTB helmets would seem to be a good choice if you can get one to fit your goggles. Have a look at some place like MTBR.com and see what they have to say in the helmet reviews section and see if they fit your needs.......
  16. Mr Jamie___I think I know someone who`d give you a run on the Dupraz (either size) in Hakuba..... Pm me.
  17. I`ve seen lots of these look a likes on the slopes in Japan. Built for the Japanese market, they`re in a similar range to the small Dupraz. http://www.gentem.co.jp/gentem/gentemstick/lineup.pdf They`re fairly popular and everyone I`ve seen and/or spoken to LOVES them, not to mention the riders all seem to ride at a higher level than the majority of the skidders who are all decked out in Burton everything.. The only down side of the Gentem sticks would be that they cost twice as much as a Dupraz..... ...... Don`t really know, but from what I see of that style of board at work on the snow, they look like they work better than a standard snowboard shape.
  18. That Tanker has been on there for quiet awhile now, not surprising considering you could buy a new one here for the same price. Friend of mine just picked up an old 172 in a secondhand shop here for 2000Yen!!!!!!
  19. Can you still buy FR1`s? The second gen went on a serious weight loss program...
  20. That`s the one that gets my vote to. I can`t really ride mine in softies,it`s all just a bit to much, but I LOVE it with Hardboots!
  21. Really? Stoked!!! That`s the 200 I have! Why are they the best ones? BTW... My mate calls me the other day and asks me I I think he should by a 172 01/02 from the secondhand shop..... for $17.50!!!! WTF! It`s his first snowboard,.....So I checked it out and it looks like it`s never even seen the snow. They sell new here for about $750....Japan is a weird place.
  22. I`d be interested to hear what your thoughts are on the THE VIOLATOR Shred. OR....anyone else that may have had their way with the beast.... Are the mysterious specs available to the public yet?
  23. Of the five boards I now own the Tanker is by far my favorite. Does just about everything I ask of it, soft boots in soft snow and hard boots on the groomers....... I dare say the FR2`s will be an excellent match for a Tanker in open(ish) terrain. I think you could ride a Tanker longer than what your expecting, as soon as your up to speed they seem to shrink, that said, when I get back on the freeride board it just feels sketchy at the same speeds.
