  1. Exactly one year ago I was doing the same thing.....STOKED, I know exactly where your at, what a rush huh! ...... now I`m getting all strung out because it`s time to do it again but there`s no snow yet in my part of the world.:(
  2. I use the spare tounge from my Head harboots in the laces of my old freestyle soft boots. Makes a difference but I think there`s room for improvement...:o
  3. I remember the thread. I think Donek is building boards for the Greek crew who call themselves G-Force. Another offshoot of the original EC thing by the looks of it.
  4. You guys get carvers choice..... Check out what`s on offer in Japan..... I think I`m getting the raw end of the sausage, so to speak:barf:
  5. I have a Rockgardn Flak Jacket and love the way it fits. I use it when I`m on my Dirtsufer and it has saved my skin on several occasions. Never tried wearing it on the snow, snow is friendly compared to roads, packed sand and single track. If I ever get to the ability level to try ECing I`ll consider it, to stop the skiers from causing me to much injury.:(
  6. Those knee caps look like the best thing since sliced bread! Do you wear them on the outside of your pants? Do you have any problem with them slipping?
  7. Radial - You Carve. Skill level dosen`t matter it all about the stoke and your post just oozes stoke. Anyone that can be having as much fun as you obviouly are is already at a higher level than most of the people that inhabit our world.
  8. I bought the Reto because I didn`t know whether or I`d take to hardboots. I wanted a board that I could use with both styles. I can take it out with plates and carve like a monster and then relax in the park with softies on it and it just shines no matter what I ask of it........... If you can actually get your hands on a Reto.......... DO IT. It will be with you for many many years of riding pleasure.
  9. I couldn`t even fit my foot into the suzukas with out my foot going numb within one minute. Heads were much more roomy and with just a little punching and new soles they`re pretty comfy. Still got along way to go compared to my el cheapo soft boots for all day comfort tho.......
  10. I wish I could tell you which is faster. What I can tell you is that the Reto is the most allround functional board I`ve ridden. Go anywhere and do anything, really really fast. Softies or plates it just loves to go fast. The only thing it lacks is feel in the powder.
  11. Ahhh........ Yes it is. But it made me laugh:rolleyes:. If you or anyone else thinks it`s inappropriate I`ll remove it.
  12. Thanks for the excellent ideas team. Perfect! I`m going to have a go at building some of those for my board:ices_ange
  13. I have a sliding/ramp setup to and there is no way I can use that one in anything but flat angles, I sort think it`s more like softboot riding in the pipe or park. It`s the carving board that has me really addicted at this piont though. Probably because I`ve not found any good bowls in Japan, but also because I am totally addicting to turning, just for the feel of it. I`m getting the downhill edge setting happening really well on my skater and I`m hoping I can transfer that skill to the snow next season. Last season, everytime I set a downhill edge I`d feel really "Freaked Out", like I was going to crash or something. It`s all good huh! just as long as were carving down the path of life . Striving to get better.
  14. Hi team, I`ve been tearing up my local hills on my longskateboard the last couple of months to keep me in the groove for next season and I`ve been trying to get my foot placement in the plus 45 degree range so that I can keep my muscle memory at least something close to correct. Does anyone else have sucess at keeping their feet at high angles? I always seem to get to the bottom of the hill and look at my feet and my backfoot is nearly always facing straight across the board again:smashfrea I would also like to know about body position training using a longboard. I am running 75a duro Gumball wheels on my Vangaurd and they seem to give a fair amount of grip but as we all know the angulation can never even get close using urethane wheels. I want to practice Hardboot style as much as possible during the no snow season. So....... Has anyone come up with some good training exercises that will help with overall carving ability? I`m getting the weight shift wired and it works just like on the snow. I just don`t know if my body positoning is going to be helped or hindered by all my summer carving...............? Ideas? Thoughts? Thanks and Keep on Carving!
  15. Nobody else thought that was a cool toy?
  16. That will be the coolest event of the year in my books. I do all the sports but they`d probably want you to do Kickflips and other ankle breaking tricks that I`ve just never been comfortable with. Oh well, there`s nothing like the dream huh?
  17. Week-ends and Public Holidays are really packed with people sitting on the runs having picnics and the like, but during the week I often find runs all to myself, esp. when it`s deep powder days. It`s all realitive though.....I mean, I`ve never been on the snow anywhere else:o
  18. Just about every resort I`ve been to in Japan is a favorite for me. I`ve yet to go to a "bad" one.
  19. Skully, I think that`s the coolest snowboarding photo I`VE EVER SEEN.
  20. Check out this thing for gear addicted carvers. http://www.silverfishlongboarding.com/article.php?story=20060321175957864 Could be fun.
  21. Here`s a good set-up I`ve just stumbled across from silverfishlongboarding advertising. It`s a group buyers` "wholesale club". ie. placing group orders so that we can get it at wholesale prices. http://www.longboarddirectory.com/top_secret.html
  22. I hear really good things about the bamboo decks that both sector 9 and Abor make. See if you can have a test ride on some bamboo. The only problem is that most production boards are made for people in the middle of the "Bell Curve", size wise. Don`t get a board that`s to flexy, you`ll destroy really quickly as you start to ride it more aggressively. ((I`m dying to see one of our beloved Alpine Board manufactures come out with a bamboo core.)) ............................ This board may well be worth a look for you. You can get them customized to the flex and shape that you want too. http://home.pacifier.com/~buzzer/curvecode/subsonic.html EDIT= I can`t make a link straight to the right board but the site is kinda small it won`t take long to have a good look around it. It`s the 46" dropped deck named Swerve 46". 90mm wheels would be the "ants pants" at your size I reckon, also, Dropped decks are really good for stability(lower C of G) with the added bonus of being lots easier on the knees when you have to push for a long time. You may have already noticed that from riding your schlong. I`m after that board in the shape of a "Reflex 42" ie. a little bit more squared deck shape so you have plenty of stance options. Your original post about the tight trucks in the rear and loose in the front is a good and natural find. Seismic trucks are usually used in a 45 degree front and 30 degree rear configuration. Randal trucks are also commomly used with a "flipped" hanger in the rear, the detunes the steering geometry in the back end by about 5-10 degrees. The whole idea is based on having the rear follow the front and not carve it`s own unique track, having the rear oversteer makes it feel like driving a fork lift at 100 miles an hour.........Scary! So,... Yeah, your on the right track there with your little discovery.
  23. Have not ridden the nuclear pikles but all the reviews I`ve read say they are average at best. Check Revenge trucks for a go simple alternative in torsion trucks. JUSTIN, that board you have moded is offically known as a schlong:biggthump. As in short/long. Now comes the bad jokes about hitting cracks with your schlong..........and so on .............
  24. Whew! Thanks team, I was thinkin` they might be really bad bindings because I never hear anyone speak of them on the forum. All good. Keep on Carvin`
  25. Who has tried or uses the Head bindings? The full name eludes me at the moment but I think they only make one style anyway. What`s your opinions on them? Good, Bad, Keep em, throw `em out?
