  1. snow report: tue mar 28, 2023 howdy all another nice day and grooming was good, but a bit icy in the morning and starts to get soft by 11am. good carving and feeling good, but on my third lift ride i met old time skier fred at the top of chair 2 and he told me about johnasmo's crash and broken leg. that put a damper on my riding and made me cautious. johnasmo was killing it yesterday on a donek proto type that he designed and went back to a coiler after his break and got injured right after we parted ways at 3pm. was a good carving day and rode strong, but felt bad and sorry for john... got a hug from a good friend at the end of my day then met my nephew who is a teacher on spring break gave me a ride down the hill... rode the 168vsr from 10 till 2:30...
  2. snow report: mon mar 27, 2023 howdy all did not know what to expect cause the weekend was nice. the groomers was good from saturdays snow. got on snow at 11am and did exactly 10 minute laps on chair 2 for an hour then met johnasmo and we did a bunch of runs on the front using chair 4 and chair 1. i took a late break and johnasmo took a snack break then met up on chair 2 as the snow was soft. i left after 3pm and johnasmo kept going... rode the 157fp from 11 till 3:30...
  3. snow report: fri mar 24, 2023 howdy all grey and the mountain had that wind blown look, but it was snowing. cooler temps and a little wind and snowing made it feel like winter again. there was a couple inches new, but it was sticky and the scrapped off marbles mixed in and flat lighting. wasn't good so made two runs on ed's and went home... rode the 159vt from 10:45-11:45...
  4. snow report: tue, wed, thu mar 21,22,23, 2023 howdy all sorry, haven't been keeping up... all three days was similar with sunny bluebird days and so-so icy groomers and carved pretty good for this late in the season. we had over a week of bluebird days and it did a number on the snow. the freeze/thaw is here, but not that bad and the mornings are not that firm. snow is a bit icy crunchy, crumbly in the mornings than the sun warms the snow then gets a little moisture and it gets good and fun then gets too soft and hot by the later afternoon... lots of good carving... tue rode the 159vt from 10:45-2:30... wed rode the 159vt from 10:45-3:30... thu rode the 157fp from 11:45-3:30...
  5. snow report: mon mar 20, 2023 howdy all super high thin overcast that filtered the sun in the morning than starts to slowly clear with blue skies and warmer temps. the air was like there was smoke in the whole valley. the groom starts to get soft about 1pm and fun. did not know what to expect so brought the fp and cruised around and check the conditions. we had about 4 to 5 days of bluebird days and it really did a number on the snow. the freeze/thaw is in full swing. i got hot so called it at 2:30pm... rode the 157fp from 11:45-2:30...
  6. snow report: fri mar 17, 2023 howdy all another beautiful bluebird day. rode with rick in the morning and he lasted a little longer and made 3 runs on chair 2 then we went to chair 1 to the summit where we met dredman. rick was having a hard time and we made sure to follow him down. rode with dredman all day cause johnasmo has the crud. was fun watching dredman rip some nice turns. snow is getting firmer in the mornings and softens in the afternoon with the sun shinning all day... rode the 159vt from 10 till 2:30...
  7. snow report: thu mar 16, 2023 howdy all beautiful bluebird day and groomers was buffed out smooth and held a good edge. another fun day and made many good turns. firm in the morning and slowly gets better as the sun softens the snow. nice comfy temps and not too busy makes it a fun day. ripping around all day and rode strong. the top layer of the snow starts to break down and breaks off into little slabs later in the day... rode the 159vt from 10 till 2:30...
  8. snow report: wed mar 15, 2023 howdy all brought the virus thunder to try and was nervous and thought it might be a short day. mostly sunny morning and calm winds and comfy temps. groomers was buffed out smooth and just enought to hold an edge. figured the board out and kept pushing it and by the end of my day it was ripping. rode strong and made many good turns. had fun cause it was not too busy. clouds came it about 1:30pm and lighting got flat so called it at 2:30pm... super fun board... rode the 159vt from 10 till 2:30...
  9. snow report: tue mar 14, 2023 howdy all a nice morning with a little bit of new and wind blown in the off-piste. snow was a little funky and i was not inspired. cruised around and saw that the face was doable so did a bunch of laps down the front. was a fun day riding a little pow on the 168vsr. polished groom with a little heavy mash potatoes so not the best day... rode the 168vsr from 10 till 2...
  10. snow report: mon mar 13, 2023 howdy all super high overcast and vis was flat light. groomers was alittle wet pack and a harsh ride. carved where was good and mostly cruised around. not really a good day cause the snow is just starting its freeze/thaw cycle with the warmer temps... rode the 165amt from 10 till 2...

  12. snow report: fri mar 10, 2023 howdy all got to the hill and the wind was blowing hard. the wind was picking up snow and moving it around. there were mini tornados everywhere and gust of winds from all directons. exposed groom was icy and fine pulverized snow piles across the runs. stayed on chair 2 cause it was too windy and was not going to stay too long. not a good day... made a few good turns... rode the 160fpt from 9 till 11...
  13. snow report: thu mar 09, 2023 howdy all a nice morning with some super high thin clouds, but really cold, some blue skies and it was snowing like the humid cold air was turning into snow. did a few runs with shred in the morning on chair 3. first day on the sg 160 force pro team and i did not like it at first. felt awkward at first then went to the baselodge and ajusted my bindings slightly back and move my back bindings closer to the heel edge. so kept at it and slowly figured it out. the sun came out at 1pm and it felt warmer and the snow got softer and better. not too crowded so it was really fun. making huge turns and the board held a good edge. the groom was pretty smooth and ripping some nice turns by the end of my day and had a great time... later on the snowbus chatted with a cute snowboard girl that made my day... one of my better days on softies... rode the 160fpt from 9 till 3...

  15. snow report: tue mar 07, 2023 howdy all classic big mtn fog and the humidity made it cold. maybe an inch plus of new snow over groom and new snow from a few days ago made the groomers really good. foggy, but not that bad on the top half of the hill. a little breeze made it chilly. lighting was a little flat, but the new snow gave it some definition and it was easy to carve thru. not too crowed so it was a fun day... rode the 176vsr from 9 till 2...
  16. snow report: mon mar 06, 2023 howdy all a nice morning with mostly blue skies then gets a super high thin overcast that filtered the sun and vis was good. groomers was buffed out smooth and slidey and just enough to hold an edge. got to the baselodge and was headed to chair 6, but it was making a knocking sound and the liftie stopped it so went to chair 4 and lapped the front a couple hours on chair 1. carving was good everywhere and not many people so it was a super fun day. rode hard and made many good turns. the overcast disappeared as i left and it got sunny... rode the 168vsr from 9 till 2:30...

  18. snow report: fri mar 03, 2023 howdy all kinda high overcast and nice comfy cooler temps. knew it was going to be soft groomers from yesterdays snow so rode the softboots. the snow was soft yet it was wet and packed wet/firm and was very grabby. it was really hard to make a smooth carve and the little bumps would rattle you around. rode with dredman for a little while then he rode with johnasmo. so went to the backside to find some pow and there was little patches of untracked pow. not a good carving day, but a fun day exploring... rode the 160inc from 9 till 2...
  19. snow report: thu mar 02, 2023 howdy all again got a late start and got on snow about 10am. thick fog halfway down chair 2 and it stayed there all day. a few inches of good soft overnight snow and lightly snowing with a south breeze. the trees are white with snow and it feels like mid winter. stayed on chair 2 all morning cause the fog was thick up higher. met dredman and shred later and we went to chair 3 and did a few laps. chair 3 was nice vis and not many push piles. was a fun day power carving thru soft push piles on ed's run... rode the 168vsr from 10 till 2...
  20. snow report: wed mar 01, 2023 howdy all crossed the street to the snowbus stop and nearly got run over by a hotel shuttle that pulled over and was greeted by shred gruumer. we did a couple laps on the frontside then went to the backside and cruised all around. was a fun "ride with shred day". was a nice comfy day and a very enjoyable riding all over the mountain. groomers on ed's in the early morning after a few runs looked like midday moguls from yasterdays snow... was a fun ride with shred day... rode the 160inc from 9 till 2:30...
  21. snow report: tue feb 28, 2023 howdy all looked like it was going to be a nice morning with a little new snow. got a late start so went straight to chair 1 and the first two laps killed my feet, but later it was all good and rode strong. started to really dump about 1pm and it was really nice and like a true winters day. later there was good size push piles, but could still carve thru when on edge. rode strong and made many good turns and had alot of fun... rode the 160inc from 10 till 2:30...
  22. snow report: mon feb 27, 2023 howdy all nice morning with high overcast and kinda wet pack harsh groomers. the little bumps were so stiff that the little bumps would throw you around. was a fun morning and did a few runs with johnasmo. the flater spots were much better and carved good... rode the 165amt from 10 till 2:30...

  24. howdy i just got it from corey from mcc 2023 via johnasmo. johnasmo rode it and did not think much of it as he rode his coiler skwall just before it. i was behind him watching him in his machine like carves on the "thunder". johnasmo made it look so easy, but he said it was kinda hard work. i have the virus thunder mounted and ready to go. what if i like it?, but if i like it can i buy it?, it is sitting waiting for a good day to test it. thank you dominic for the opportunity to try and ride a board like this. and thank you corey for giving forward... i will do the same... thoughts to come...
  25. snow report: tue feb 21, 2023 howdy all thought the artic blast was going to be later in the day so went up. caught the snow bus and as we were going half way to the village the wind was picking up snow and swirling it around. as i got off at the baselodge the wind was blowing hard. got ready and got out and knew things were not good and the lifts would not run due to high winds and super cold minus temps. so did a run on chair 6 and called it a day. i guess the artic air got here sooner. forecast is a few more days of super cold to normal temps next week... rode the 160inc from 9 till 10... here is the bigs snow report... Chairs 2 and 3 will not run today. 10:10 a.m. update: Chair 1 will be closed for the day, and Chairs 2 and 3 are still on wind hold. The gales clearly aren't taking the hint, and it's doubtful that they'll calm down any time soon. Our lift operations team continues to analyze conditions, however, and patrol has been busy with avalanche mitigation work all morning. We will be sure to provide an update here if anything changes! 9 a.m. update: Chairs 2 and 3 are also on wind hold. Chairs 6 and 9 and the Big Easy Conveyor Carpet are up and running. Chair 10 is being prepped to open. 8:30 a.m. update: Chair 1 is on wind hold, and Chair 4 is not scheduled to run today ... stay tuned for more updates very soon! 6 a.m. report: Good morning and happy Mardi Gras, slope slayers! We are smack dab in the middle of a winter storm warning which is expected to persist until 5 a.m. tomorrow. This storm will create snow bands across the state, and arctic air from across the Divide will arrive by this afternoon. A significant south-southwest wind becoming north will gust up to 44 mph today, so wind chill values could drop as low as 27 below zero. Travel conditions could be dicey, so be sure to take 'er easy and proceed with caution. It's your time to shine, storm chasers ... sounds like we're in for some wacky weather. The snow up here feels pretty sticky and a little heavy at first glance, but it's still piling up and I have high hopes for the day. Break out those rockered sticks and boards to ensure you stay afloat! The summit is expected to hit zero degrees by 5 p.m.; temperature-wise (and literally, I suppose!), it's all downhill from there. Extreme cold moves in through Friday with isolated flurries and cloudy skies. Frigid conditions, wind and lots of new snow could all cause operational delays over the next few days.
