  1. I'll take them - details to follow via PM
  2. Rock Star! And you’ll never get the Rossi back for sure now!
  3. Tuesday, March 19 Filtered sunlight at the noon open slowed the softening cycle today but by 2pm the result was the same. Ken and I made the best of it nevertheless.
  4. Monday, March 18 My how conditions have changed in the last week....after a months-long stretch of firm groom frequently replenished by new snow, quickly softening groom under the bright sun met Ken, Patroller Don, and I at the noon opening today. After a bit Ken left us to check up on his spouse's activities in the terrain park; Don and I stuck it out until about 2pm when undisturbed groom was getting harder to find.... I'm planning another short session tomorrow too.
  5. +1 on the speedy recovery piece my friend!
  6. 4-5” inches of new snow last night and a good forecast for tomorrow...I’m planning to get out as well!
  7. Tuesday, March 5 A near carbon copy of yesterday (groom-wise, sunlight-wise, and number of customers-wise) though Ryan closed out a several year hiatus from the sport and joined Ken and I today (and plans to come back on Thursday).
  8. Monday, March 4 Bright sun and firm groom at the noon opening, but the single digit temperatures and a brisk west wind kept it refreshing (but also kept nearly everyone else at home!). Ken, Dave, and I had our way with the Express side until the light suddenly went flat around 2pm. I stopped at the lower chalet for a few minutes as Ken and Dave were leaving; when I went back out the light was a little better so I got a couple more runs in. I'll be back tomorrow!
  9. Not sure about the Express. I’m busy tomorrow but will be out Friday morning
  10. Tuesday, February 26 - The temperature was in the single digits, there was no wind, filtered sun through high clouds, and the usual impeccable Spirit firm groom at the noon open and surprisingly no one else showed up....I'm not kidding - I've never seen as few winter sports enthusiasts on the hill as I did today - at least until 2 bus loads of after schoolers showed up at 3:30, but I was done by then!
  11. Message from the PD: “due to blustery conditions, cold temps and chill factors, Spirit Mountain will be closed Monday, February 25. Ops will resume as scheduled on Tuesday, February 26.”
  12. Nope - operations suspended on Monday too!
  13. Tuesday, February 19 The groom was a bit firmer yet after the long holiday weekend and the sky cloudless; Duluth schools are out this week so a bit busier than a normal weekday. Hooked up with Ken early then we met friends Hazen from Idaho in hard boots on an F2 Diablo and Greg from Cornicopia, WI on tele skis so we proudly showed them around both sides of our hill. Jane joined us later as well! More snow on the way too!
  14. If any forum members are contemplating a trip to Duluth over the course of the remainder of this season PM me ahead of time...I have a number of comp tickets available that can be redeemed for $10 to get a full day lift ticket at Spirit Mountain.
  15. I have a patrol shift Sunday morning so I’ll be there before first chair!
  16. Ha! No Minnesota firm groom here today.... close to a foot of nice light fluffy pow when we opened the hill this morning but it got cut up pretty quickly so there’s no carving to be had. If I had my druthers I’d take your conditions!
  17. Sweet! I was out this morning and virtually had Fourpipe (and the rest of the Express side) to myself; the single digit temps were manageable but the light fog/flat light kept things challenging. We’ve had about 4” of light fluffy lake effect snow this evening so the rest of the week should provide excellent surface conditions.
  18. Monday, January 28 2” of light, dry new on top of the firm groomed base and bright sun made for what a fellow patroller (with perhaps a bit of hyperbole) called ‘the best conditions in 10 years at Spirit’ at the noon opening. If that wasn’t enough most of the weekday regulars apparently stayed home in anticipation of the artic blast forecast for tonight. Patroller Don and I did our best to leave sweet lines before the light went flat around 3pm!
  19. I don’t know of any other GR discounts; I’ll call you in a bit and we can finalize plans.
  20. Hmmm....da U.P. on Friday sounds interesting. GR might be an option too! And no, I haven’t been out since Monday.
  21. You nailed it....Spirit will be closed Thursday and Friday due to the cold.
