Dumb Question from me:  How can we tell the bail size is 53mm or 50mm?  is it mark anywhere?

    There are 2 bails option:
    Standard Bail (53mm) -- Deeluxe/UPZ
Low (NW) Bail (50mm) -- North Wave/Mountain Sport/UPZ race heel options

It seems only the heel bail is different and toe bail are the same?
(In SG's website they are only carrying heel bail for different size and not the toe)
Can one run Deeluxe with 50mm bail?

You are right and only heel bail is different and toe is the same. I believe 50mm only runs with NW and all other boots utilizes 53mm. Upz won’t fit into 50mm

I’ll be up solo next Sunday... hoping for some fun! Great times riding with James and Haley and the kids.

Awesome! I will be there too! It has been hot in NM and miss the snow and riding with all LCI!

I changed the tongues to world cup as well, but have not noticed too much difference in flex and stiffness.

changing the springs however, made a huge difference to the flex.

I never had an issue with wires snapping out of place..

I tried all springs and blue was too soft and yellow was too stiff for y liking but combo of World Cup tongue and red spring did the job for me!! I do have quite a bit of forward lean on rear boots.

Ah interesting! I thought if people are riding two different stiffnesses, they usually go softer on the rear boot. I guess the idea in my head is wrong on that! May I ask why you run the two different stiffnesses on the boots and why you've done it in that config? Curious because I was thinking to experiment with something like this but with the springs.

For me, I like stiffer tongue in the rear foot bc before I had stiffer tongue, the longest buckle wire by the ankle joint was snapping out of place from stopper on the tongue when boot flexed forward. With stiffer tongue, it does not flex as much forward and Longest buckle wire stayed put with stiff tongue.

    ..... if that make sense??

Also, softer flex at the front is more comfortable for my legs.... haha

It's cool that they offer all the different stiffnesses for the boots, tongues, and springs.  That way if the boot you choose turns out too stiff or too soft you can change it to some extent.

This is definitely true. I have 100 stiff but got a World Cup tongue on rear boots. I also have all the stiffness of spring (blue, red, and yellow) but I am most comfortable with reds.

  6. Looks like Mountain Slope and Deeluxe had baby together 🤣

I wish they would have kept the spring system of MS as it is the easiest/best spring system compared to UPZ or Deeluxe in terms of adjusting it.

new equipment is ALWAYS GOOD for the niche sports like ours and push other manufactures to innovate.

Knock off? Maybe/maybe not but if people say this boot is a knockoff then SG binding is a knockoff of F2 binding? I love my SG bindings which incorporates better material and adjustability than F2 bindings. The best binding I used under my feet. Perhaps this boots can be as good as MS? I guess we will find out .....

Ok. I'll stop complaining. I just won't do I-70 on weekends any more.

I-25 is closed and drinking beer? Is that why it is closed?

Huh I just meant as “myself” 😉

  8. Hopefully my ankle will be better next weekend and finally be able to ride my oxess 185 on FIRM snow.

@Colozeus, see you on the weekend!

Nice! What are you riding there?

Well, he called it. While we were sitting comfortable in the lodge, an avalanche (or two?) closed I70 in both directions. We were trapped, but with about 150-200 people, good groom, sunshine, and no wind. Epic day! Pictures and video to follow.

Thanks to Dusty Bottle for being a great host. My favorite run of the day was lapping Spillway and Richards. Did 5 of those to end the day - that chair feels pretty fast when it's your only break!

Damn, I am mad at myself for missing it but I am glad you had fun @Corey!! Definitely give us a shout when you are in Colorado!

  10. it seems like it is gonna be good POW day tomorrow!! I am leaving earlier than usual to beat the traffic (hopefully). See you all there

Also, quick question for you guys. The GF is a beginner pizza skier and only comfortable on greens at the moment. I'm thinking we'll probably just stick with the lower part of loveland for saturday or the first half of that day. (The zig-zag area.) Should i just park at that lower area? Isn't there a lift that links both areas up? I'm assuming they also have rentals at that lower lodge...

He man, if you are talking about the area around chair 3, that lift is not working but has short bus that goes from chair 3/beginner area to the Chet’s dream (main ski area)

i know I will be there on Sat and Sun! Unless it is mad traffic....

more on ski sante fe, for any carver looking for info:

this is not a big area, so it's easy to figure out where to carve..  having said that, Gayway off the triple gets early morning sun, starts wide and then narrows half way down, and then widens again.  i think it is the best carving at the area.

also, the triple chair from the base has short but superb carving under the lift at the top.  good pitch, lots of cool terrain.

    cheers -

I am glad you are enjoying NM! At ski Santa Fe, open slope and Broadway was one of my fav place to carve. I also love Gayway as it has awesome view.

What's the Saturday crowd like, at Cooper? We're looking for a Saturday option, to avoid the Breck crowds.

Last time couple of us went on Sat (that weekend had NASTAR event) and the crowds was not much at all. I bet on non event Saturday would be no crowds. But the lifts are slow and old. The food at the bar is descent though!

What size f2 are they the same as? Large?

SG is one size fits all. Version 1 of SG binding is harder to change size as you have to take apart the bails but Version 2 has extra mounting hole for bail and much easier to switch from smaller size to larger size ( there are only 2 sizes in SG binding). But the base of the bindings are same sizes between smaller size to larger size.

not sure which version you have.

  16. 37 minutes ago, bobdea said:

Okay, so that’s solved.... next question.... what about the cants?

Cants and lifts are same set up as F2. But there is one more set than F2. When you buy F2, you. An only do heel lift or toe lift AND inward can’t or outward can’t. SG have 2 sets of lifts (can do both toe and heel lift) and 2 sets of cants.

So I just bought a pair of the sigi bindings..

Are the toe and heel blocks and bails the same?

want to modify them to be intec at some point. I learned not to trust f2 bails the hard way.....

f2 is actually why I went back to td2s, broke a Tnut on the damn things

As far as I know SG binding is not intec compatible. The bolt to hold down the bail goes opposite ways compared to F2

Not sure what you exactly mean by “toe and heel blocks and bails are the same?” ... but toe and heel blocks are not the same just like f2.

disclaimer: I got 2 pairs of SG bindings

  18. The day was great with never ending wind and the sun.

We had Jordan, Scott, Joe, and myself were in presence at Loveland. Weather prediction said 0-1" of snow yesterday but it was sunny day throughout but high wind at the top of Ptarmigan and Chair 6. Jordan and myself went right away to Ptarmigan from Chair 1 to get some carving under the sun. The condition was one of the best this year with nicely packed snow. In addition, Firecut run was groomed so it made a nice time for great carving from the top of Ptarmigan. Jordan and I got separated after some more runs through Firecut so I made it over to Roulette. I hardly saw anyone on Roulette and max waiting time was 1 minute before I got empty run. I must have been the only carver on Roulette for 8-9 runs. The runs were smooth and hard without any trenches LOL. I hope Jordan, Scott and Joe had fun day at the slope!!

Have a safe trip to Montana for everyone who went!
