  1. I wish I was in Truckee - have not made it up there once this season. ...my second son was born in December, so playing in the snow has to wait a little bit. But I should make it up there in February... I saw FLC at the Fillmor in SF - good show... ...only problem was that the singer tried some standup comedy inbetween songs. Let's just say their music was much better than his jokes... :D
  2. my bad - scooby snacks also doesn't start with I love you honeybunny, but with everybody stay cool... ...and since it's not very fast it's more for the relaxed carving on an empty easy blue slope...
  3. Scooby Snacks by the Fun Lovin' Criminals - great track! Most of their music is pretty good for carving...
  4. It really depends. If you get a demo board for a day from a shop, they usually charge you (but deduct the price for the demo if you buy a board). When ski/snowboard companies have demos at resorts and you get to try a board for a couple of runs then they usually don't charge you. ...and yes Sean is spoiling us.
  5. Interestingly enough those conferences always seem to happen at the same time they have the geek shows in Vegas...
  6. ...and what a good name for a board that would be! B.t.w. German beers that end with "ator" must be treated with respect - they are usually in the 8% range... ...and again, most of those beer names would make good names for Shred's boards. :D
  7. ...slow down there Randy - don't even think about converting back to being a skier.
  8. ...sitting at work, last day at the old job. Wish I was at Tahoe - but due to new family addition three weeks ago, I probably won't be allowed to go up for another month or two...
  9. ...wish I was there! Hi Randy, cool that Syndi is also making the transition to the snowboard. Great that you put her on hard boots right away!... ...can't wait for Ryan to get on skis - have to wait at least another year... Hagen
  10. ...this is weird - had to use IE to open that file, firefox didn't want me to see that video... Looks great! I'm impressed, Scott - hope to meet you on the slopes again some time this season... Hagen.
  11. Hi Randy, Glad to hear that you are back on the slopes. ...I wish I could come up for the holidays as well. But we'll stay home - my 1 week old doesn't travel that well yet... Have a good one and do a few turns for me, Hagen.
  12. ...and I bet Shred has already a longer one in the works. Although I'm not sure if he can top the scary pastell graphics...
  13. ...I got up to 1456 ft. - just don't tell my wife.

    Tahoe

Mount Rose is also a great carving mountain. And it has quite a big group of carvers on a regular basis. From my experience it's also not too crowded unlike some of the other resorts around Tahoe. But if you spend more than two or three days in the area you might also want to give some of the other resorts a try- just choose your days wisely (as skipuppy already suggested). Around the holidays - christmas eve and christmas day are usually not too bad. But between christmas day and new yeas most resorts are a zoo... If you are still around after x-mas you might want to think about just doing half days in the morning - most holiday visitors are not really early risers...

    Chocolate!

...forgot the name - some south american bitter chocolate with pink pepper!
  16. ...that's the nice thing about spring skiing in CA - there are girls out there that ride in bikinis (tops anyway, havn't seen bikini bottoms on the slopes yet...)
  17. ...nice boards. Makes me want to get in line for one of those also... Let us know how they ride, Hagen.
  18. ...good that the only warm water proof jacket that I had at home is from Spyder - that counts as snowboardy, right?
  19. ...one remaining question - how will I recognize you guys? I have a hard enough time to recognize the Tahoe Carvers crew without theit helmets...
  20. ...that's where I went this morning. Also one of the reasons why I need to find a place with good coffee (i.e. a cappucino that tastes more like espresso than sugar)... :D Hagen.
  21. Made it to Toronto - so I'm in. :) ...question for the guys who know the 404/407 area - where can I get decent coffee here? I'll probably need a triple or quad cappucino later today to survive... Hagen.
  22. Have to agree with skategoat there - Thule boxes are pretty much idiot proof. For the one that I have you only need to unlock one lock to open it (the one master lock locks the box in three places). And you can't close it without locking it. And you can open it from both sides (master lock on both sides). That really helps when you mount/unmount the box. One more advise - buy everything for your roof rack system from one company. That way you can get matching locks - I only need one key for all the components that I got for my Thule system (cross bars, bike rack, box and snowboard racks). Hagen.
  23. I can't agree with Skatha - I hated my rear ski rack on the jeep. The problem with those is that your boards will collect all the dirt from the drive to the resort. Basically when you get back home - tired as you are - you'll have to start cleaning the boards so that they won't rust. I ended up buying a roof rack system for my Wrangler. I can't comment on the Q tower system (I got factory installed roof rack now on my Passat). But once you get a system - get a Yakima or Thule box for it. Might be more expensive than regular ski or snowboard racks. But your gear stays clean and you can also use it in the summe for other gear... Hagen.
  24. Sounds good to me. I'll try to find that place... ...and not get lost (or spend all my money) at the Mountain Equipment Co-op. Hagen.
