Well Ive ridden this board a few times, and it was underwhelming. last time being the closing day at vail with about a foot of heavy new snow. This is my second board from prior, first being a WCR metal 183, which rode fairly well, but fell apart. I thought it was overall too stiff, seemed too have near GS type flex, and the nose was a bit stiffer than it needed to be (conversly the 4807 178 is a bit too soft in the nose.) I just couldnt get comfortable on the board, was ok on hardpack, but thats obviously not the point. Several other boards I have/had including my madd BX 168, modified MLY 167 melhuse, and volkl cross all did better in almost every respect. I mean it didnt float too great, and was even worse trying to carve in the softer stuff. Didn't have that much pop, and was a little on the heavy side. Frankly I think prior put very little effort in to the design of this board. (including the fact that was short a 1/2" on my stance) I almost did better all mtn on the WCR!! except for the length.

well FWIW I have an ATV 171, and was slightly underwhelmed by its carving abilities, which is to say it feels pretty much like a freeride board. I have a madd BX and it carves way better. I too was considering having Prior build me a narrow BX, but I think im going to have someone else build it.

So i just got a pair of .950's in... and well...whats the big deal?? I dont see why they are sooo special?? Its the most ive ever paid for boots! They arent that stiff. I think my heads are stiffer, and definately not as stiff as my modded kryptons. I havent ridden them yet, but I just don't see anything magical, that makes people want them so much, and I cant even use intec with them!!!!:(

Funny, I wish I'd known you had that one as I'd have preffered it over the silver....( I didnt even get to wear it!!! tore my ACL during practice, the day before my next race, put me out for the season )

If I do ride again this season, any thoughts on if its better to use my softer shorter set up, or a bigger board and stiffer boots?

Ok so its been about 9 days, Im feeling better, saw an ortho, and he said its torn, but I dont really feel any looseness yet. I partialy tore my PCL in my opposite leg about 3 years ago, and was back in about 4-6weeks. This knee feels about the same. Im able to pedal on my trainer right now for a few minutes and I put my boots on and stood on the board, and kinda feel ok. really the only time i feel much pain is when I straighten my leg out. Though i can fully bend it back right now, only about 110* of movement. For one the doctor said I have to get full ROM back before they would do surgery anyway... so once it feels better... before I have surgery which I intend to do, whats the harm in making a few turns?? I was really ripping it up last time out (well last time before the crash, but this was on the BX course)

tough to say, in that photo, but a girl is going to have a slightly different posture, just bend that front knee more and lean into the nose, and get that rear hand forward
