If you’ve never used them how can you have an opinion on them?  And, they are added to the bindings, not “in” the boots .

32 years in hardboots here. Damn I’m old!

Jack, read again. I have not told my opinion, I just said I don’t get it why it is a must.

Ps, you add a heel lift to the bindings to heel lift your boot right? Isn’t it a point of using a lift?

They are a must.  F2 includes one lift kit with their bindings because back in the 80s and 90s people thought you only needed to lift the heel of the rear boot.  The more modern approach is using a lift under the toe of your front boot as well.  F2 probably enjoys the little extra revenue from people buying the additional lift.  It's simply more comfortable for most people.

I don’t get it, why it is a must?! In 10 years, I have never used a heel lift in any boots, neither in deeluxes, upzs nor mountain slopes. Not in 15cm boards or 25+ boards.
I highly recommend not to use any lifts before you try riding your board. And if! you feel you need to lift your boot then do a lift.

  3. Overall 12+ carvers with different abilities will hit Aspen mountains during this time!

Note: this season requires making reservations in Aspen if you have Ikon pass. I would suggest to make reservations as soon as possible, as no one knows how many reservations available each day.

can't believe you went there on an alpine setup !    I was there last year on a stiff softboot setup and it was hard to generate speed to get a few good carves in.

I'm sure most people there have no clue about carving setup.

It’s not that bad, I used to learn all my carving in one of these

  5. Guys, we all come to this sport for certain picture in mind. For a lot of people this picture is EC. Why are you so aggressively against it? Who cares if one wants to learn it?

EC is an amazing carving style. EC was that picture in mind for me which brought me into HB. EC is not a trick as so many of you think, its a way of carving itself.

And if you're dead set on learning this technique, it looks to me that the best EC riders have only the rear armpit dragging on toeside and the front arm down the side of the body (hand on thigh), with more open shoulders and less rotation than you demonstrate.  Try that.

Hey @crackaddict , can you pls show examples , maybe videos, of those the best EC riders you are talking about?! I believe those ride hardboots as @Xargo right?

  7. I would highly recommend you to place your hands differently that way you don’t sprain your shoulders. Forearms should follow same direction as your board, no other ways, they should be parallel from your elbows with your board. You have probably seen this video. It’s pretty old now, but still very useful.

I was actually getting a tad bored riding good groom this year so I started seeking out 1-2 day old groom to improve my riding. Holy cow did it work and I even ended up having a lot of fun doing it. Body position and turn placement became amplified causing any mistakes to come to the surface. I almost prefer old groom to fresh bad groom.

    Who needs those groomers anyway:)
