  1. It sure is great, face shot again and again. Well if trails not groomed, there is no point for me to bring out the hardboot setup. I ride a rome machine with union contact binding in duck stance. Pic was taken last week Tue night. Let's ride Saturday
  2. I was there last month. Awesome wide trails! Crowded though, while I was there over the weekend...
  3. I have finally convinced 2 of my buddies to come join on Sunday for 1 day, one of them want to try hard-boot for his first time. Did you get my PM? Can I pre-register him through PM?
  4. I guess, you will be very hard to find by hiding in the woods:D. No problem, I will look for you Saturday, it looks like it could rain later tomorrow and the temperature may be too high for the snow to freeze, will try hardbooting Friday morning to see how it goes. MC Saturday usually gets very crowded.... Let me know where you guys will be Saturday.
  5. JT, what time and where will you be Thur and Sat? I will come to find you. I can't seem to message or email you.... J
  6. Anyone driving from NYC area just for Sunday? Labrador Mountains seems like a great mountain for carving.
  7. We gonna be riding MC tomorrow night.
  8. I'm thinking of going tomorrow night.
  9. I too took our 2 years old to Blue Mountain last weekend for the first time. It was fun. I was testing out my soft setup with my new binding and new boot, wasn't hard booting. Didn't get too many runs in since we were with the little shredder. Will soon be testing my first official hardboot setup with the 158 madd I just got, and the new liner.
  10. I don't know if this has been posted, just wanna share a modern editing on freestyle hard boot footage: that looks pretty good.
  11. Yeah, we will have to ride next season. We usually go to mountain creek less than 5 times a year. Heck, I have been going boarding around 5 times a year ever since my wife was pregnant a couple years ago. It will be very hard to judge buying a season pass when only using it for less than 5 times a year. Plus mountain creek is 2 hours away from me and I'm on-call 24/7 except one weekend a month. I'm sure I'm one of those snowboarding decline population. Hopefully when our kid gets bigger we will get to go more.
  12. wow... under 50 bucks! Without worrying people hitting me from behind. I'm in
  13. Thanks JT for the tip. I was at Stratton over the weekend with my new steeper stance. I finally could carve heel side without skid at about the same speed of my toe side. I only have an hour or 2 to work with because of the pain, the chop up snow and the crowd. It came very nature too! I almost ran out of space after exiting a heel side turn, I had never carve that radius nor speed on my heel side. Heel edge on my back leg locked in and the next thing I know, I was flying across the hill and only have a split second before flying off course. That feeling is rad. The nose chatter without losing edge was also unexpected. I just ordered a pair of new Intuition Liners. Hopfully, I can HB more than an hour or two before getting back into my pillow soft boot. At Stratton, the staff at the gate refused to let us in Sunday morning before 8:30 without early morning access. Is it like this with MC? Or do they just treat us differently if we are ridding with you?
  14. Thanks for the tip guys. I did try tuning my bindings and carpet serving for a couple of hours last night. A higher back leg angle feels like a twisted knee waiting to happen since my stance width is way too wide for me, and I'm already using the closest insert possible. Even now with 57f 50b and the maxiumum toe and heel lifts I can fit with the shims that came with the bindings, I still feel pressure on my back knee when crouching low. And there are 2-3cm on both my toe and heel to the edges. I badly need a board that can fit me.
  15. Hi, it's nice to meet you all. What side cut radius was your board that you were using? Thanks for the tip, I'm going to try a steeper angle next time. I did accidentally rode 75 degree front when first time trying the snowpro binding due to the loosening of the binding. I kinda understand the feeling what you meant by knee movement driven heel side turn. I also read that the steeper the angle the better the heel side control but less the toe side. Carpet surfing did show the change of knee play at steeper angle. It's the fist season that I was interested in forward stance, so I'm very new to this feeling of heel side turn initiated by the knee. Very interested in going hunter, but I don't think I can stay in my ski boot for more than 1.5 hrs.... all sort of pain. After you guys were gone, I changed back to softie after 2 more runs. With my Rome Machine jib stick, now that's a noodle. Even my wife's board is stiffer.... surprise Do you prefer riding SL board or GS board? What side cut radius do you prefer? GS board is going to run out of room in most trail on MC right? After fixing my boot, I think I'm gonna go for a used board. I was looking at the Oxygen GS, but didn't know how >13m side cut feels like. I had only ridden Freestyle / Freeride boards that range from 6 to 7. I did have a stiffer board that was lost, and I do like that acceleration feeling that you get from the moment you entering a carve with that stiff nose that hardly bend. What board do you recommend? Perhaps any alpine specific board has a hard enough nose for me?
  16. The new boots are a lot stiffer than my old ones. Just spent the past 2.5 hrs messing with the binding with the new boots. If nanny get here on time, we should be able to get to MC north around 9:30am. Hopfully, looking to HB before 11am.
  17. We are thinking of going tomorrow. Just got my Tecnica Dragoon ski boot last week, may wanna try it out before season end.
  18. We have experience with 90's burton mission, custom, early 2k, burton CFX, late 2k Flow NXT AT, FRX, burton Lexa, last year model Rome Madison, Ride Rodeo Flow and Rome had the least amount of forward lean when set to the max. Burton had the poorest boot out adjustment. The Flows that we have which the forward leans adjustment have design flaw that once you dial them up and it will damage the thread after a couple of runs, then you will no longer be able to adjust them anymore. The ankle support on both of our flow bindings seem kinda poor compare to other bindings when riding with no forward lean. I like the forward lean adjustment on the rome and the ride, takes seconds to adjust on the hill. (heel drag: put less lean, heel side carve washout, put more lean) However, I think the rome forward lean design seems to have a flaw as well. When dial to the max, the notch would get underneath the heel cup under pressure, giving you no forward lean. What I had to do was to leave a gap between the high back and heel cup so that the notch has a better platform on the heel cup. But which would leave a bigger foot print, thus more heel drag. Overall on softboot binding, I like the rodeo adjustability the best except it has a somewhat less support from the ankle strap for aggressive free riding. I think the free ride version may have a beefier ankle strap. The rodeo has more foot padding compare to the madison. I seem to like the madison better which is not too damp.
  19. Boot size, right! That's another question I have. My boots show 282mm on the sole, I believe it's mondo size 24. But when I measured my feet, I should be in a size 22. But I have ultra wide feet, I don't think I can fit in a pair of 22 without going to the boot fitter.
  20. It's nice to hear there are carvers in MC. I think I'm done with HB this season. I did 2 hours Sunday night and 1 hour Monday morning and already got a bruise on my big toe on the leading foot. Pressure pain next to my pinky toe on my back foot. But so much more power compare to riding SB. Looking for new boots to replace my 15 years old ski boots. Unless I get a pair in time this season and the weather turns cold enough to freeze, so we don't have to ride slush past 10am, i don't think I'm gonna be HBing anymore this season. I only saw skiers Monday morning though, no HB carvers or plate riders. Are you guys usually at the South Peak Saturday Sunday morning? I was quite impressed when I saw a carver at hunter mountain last year airborne switched edge in the middle of narrow black trail under high speed. I wish more people would carve the slope instead of going straight down hill uncontrollably. Well, to each of their own as long as they don't hit me.
  21. was at MC Sunday night to Tuesday morning with my newly bought snowpro binding and 15 years old ski boot trying HB for the first time. I didn't know there are carvers going mountain creek, could have use some advice on setting. May be next time.
