  3. I've arrived and looking forward to Scanlons tonight.. who's thirsty? Long drive from Whistler to Bend - but looks like it is going to be worth it. :D

  5. Our condolences CarveDog.. sorry to hear. Will you be getting a new Golden?
  6. It was a little early for beer -- but if it had been later I would have voted the guy who has won the most $$ buy the beer.
  7. Here is what is happening in my world today now that I am over the flu. I went Golfing. Met up with some friends for a friendly game. One of them is 10 years older than I so I gave him 10 strokes, One of the other guys is a bit over weight and does not practice much so I gave him 14 strokes, The last one in our foursome has not had the opportunity to go to golf school and or lessons from a Pro but he does ok on the course so I gave him 8 strokes, I shot a 77 and had to cough up a few dollars and pay the heavy guy and I paid the old guy a buck.. So anyway we laughed and they all said "Tough Sh!t " when I said I gave too many strokes away today. :lol::lol:
  8. I'll give ya that Bob..It was not a very good example. And your face to face w/foreigners is prolly right on. My experience tells me a few countries with which I have had some insight/experience/visual would be the South Koreans and Thailand - I'd say they may understand the flag thing better than the Euros. I will never forget how the Koreans sent a soldier home in Vietnam compared to us. They escorted him with what appeared great honor and ensured he left Vietnam soil unharmed when it was his end of duty there. When any of us US Army guys left - it was So long , See ya.. be at the airport at XX:XX time. Where I was stationed was a joint base of US and S Koreans - I saw their departure quite often, they seem to be a very proud people.
  9. I think I may have posted this quite awhile ago but it is a good one. <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1IXQVh5IbHc&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1IXQVh5IbHc&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
  10. I am not so sure about that Bob, I remember the last Olympics and when the 1st place Gold medal team from country X was on the podium and they were looking at their flag being raised and honored -- I saw tears of joy. I think they were into IT. :biggthump:biggthump

  13. Your picture goes with this one.. ( yea it is faked I believe)
  14. that is Ruth Harkin - wife of Senator Tom Harkin of Iowa - if you are really wanting to take her up on the hill I am sure you can google her and get her contact info Tex.
  15. Even tho we are all, except those in uniform, supposed to hold our right hand over the heart during the National Anthem, how many do you see do it at a sporting event each time that wonderful song is sung - even tho sometimes the artist butchers and mutilates a wonder piece that needs no improvement. But that is a topic for another discussion. { All - defined as legal law abiding US citizens }
  16. these are for you Willy -- I can't figure out how to embed the vid either. Hope you like these...gazguzzler vids http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vAyhn7YIHy0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oj5c9-c1X1k&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6jCz6Q2RDI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWqzQ9yAkh4
  17. I just woke up so help me out here Bob, what did I say conflicts with my barn yard you speak? Whats in my barn yard my be more a proper question? Is not the simple answer here is to just build more jails and prisons? suprised you didn't think of that Bob, pretty easy math problem really. And I do not agree with tolls being deductible-- I wish we could remove 98% of deductions and make the good ole 1040 easy to fill out - and no way to cheat. After all it was your choice to buy that item or spend the money. I'd leave the house interest as one of the 2%. Have a nice day Bob, good discussion. thanks for your support and input! :D
  18. Enough political trash talk - lets see some phunny videos you like here is a few to start --:lurk:
  19. Now were are getting somewhere! Lets take the bridge down with a 2 year notice, and not replace it. Get people closer to where they work or work closer to where they live - it is their choice. :D
  20. I see some of your and Bob's point but like I just mentioned above - fairness is my desire- I would like a millionaire to pay a little more than a barista earning $10 an hour - 6 dollars to her is a big hit. The sporting event businesses just to name a few, do not pay anything for the bridge which delivers their gate paying spectators. - I'd like them to pay to some extent. Bottom Line: There is more to using a bridge than just driving across it - others benefit - I'd like them to pay a little in that fund from thier profits.:D
  21. Bob , Bob, bob,, you confuzle me… I have not said I am against taxes, they are necessary for a quality of life we enjoy. I have only stated in various posts I am against unfair taxes or unfair costs to certain state citizens. It is that simple. I am all for improving our state but I have always wanted the load to be shared equally. This is why I stated I am against the bridge toll and the surcharge on motor size in a car. The more one drives in the wonderful State of Washington the more one should pay and the more fuel a person uses the more that person should pay – simple. The bridge that needs to be built and HOV lanes added benefit various businesses without any payment. Sonics, Seahawks, University of WA, all heavily benefit from the use of this bridge but none of their profits go to help build it – that is not right. A young person making 10 bucks an hour who needs to travel across the bridge for work pays almost an hour’s wage to go to work where a Microsoft millionaire goes across and is not even a drop in the bucket of his finances – That is not right. I pay a lot ( notice spelling !!) in taxes BTW. I am split on how I feel about state income tax – It is unfair from the extent only those working are paying, I like home property tax the way it is and vote for school levies and bonds when they come up at election time. Our sales tax seems to be fair since we do not have state income tax, which gets to another unfairness – we do not get to claim our sales tax$$ as a federal income tax deduction, but in states that have income tax and no sales tax do – that is not right. More red wine please!:D
  22. Using your logic would it make sense -- Too YOU ! - that the local 4 story Park and Ride be paid for by the people that use that terminal - kinda like an additional bus fare? People that do not use it do not pay for any mass transit?
  23. Bob, I am curious -- do you believe what you hear on the Colbert Report, Jay Leno or Saturday Night Live??
  24. I don't know how big a spoon you have in the pot you are stirring but but lets have a go at this subject since it is inline with the OP. Here in Seattle area we have our huge lake called Lake Washington, it has two bridges that link the Eastside to Seattle. One of those is I-90 – nice new bridge and the other is an older state road 4 lane bridge which needs to be replaced. They want to replace it with a similar 4 lane bridge but add 2 more lanes, for car poolers and bus. To pay for this bridge they want to charge a toll of around 6 bucks round trip. I believe this is unfair (Disclaimer – I use this bridge maybe 3X a year so the few times I use it – not a big deal to me) But the reason I feel it is unfair is this bridge brings intra- state commerce to businesses on both sides of the bridge and most of the businesses that would realize the economic gain do not pay only the employees that commute. I believe the bridge is equal to any highway in any corner of the state which means the entire state should pay for any and all road improvements. Those of you that travel tolls roads – any thoughts? Approx 160,000 people use this bridge each day.
  25. If I remember correctly this is not quite true... on the steps of the White House as they loaded the last piece she declared "I shall return!" So I really think she believed she was just borrowing those items. :lol:
