Nice pictures! That's the same section of the trail where I broke my ankle last month. I wish I could be up there riding, I've never riden it while the aspens were in full color. Did you ride down the staircase? This is the spot where I broke myself. (not me in the pic)
  2. I checked the special offers for Nevada and so far it looks like we don't get squat! I remember last year that in Reno we didn't get anything but the show in S. Tahoe or Carson got lift tickets.
  3. Thanks for the pic, that's perfect! Allee, think you can have your better half whip some up for me too? I only have 10 or 12 boards.... LOL
  4. When I use my board lock I just run the cable through the bindings. I figure if someone is looking to steal gear they are going to go for what they can grab quickly. Plus it would look suspicious to be unscrewing the bindings on a board that is locked up. They do make something that will protect the board though. It's a round metal piece semi hollow with a hole drilled through the side. You screw this to any open insert in the board then run the cable through it. The cable blocks access to the screw head to remove it. I have one at home but never use it.
  5. JJFluff, That's a nice clean looking rack. Can you post a couple pictures of it without the board and a side view? I would like to make something like that because it's good for displaying boards instead of just having them lay flat.
  6. Stay in Reno or Tahoe and choose from a lot of great resorts around Tahoe. Reno and South Lake Tahoe have good night life and Tahoe has great riding. If you choose this area and want more specific info let me know and i'll help anyway i can. Randy

    OSIN's

I also have one that i'm considering selling. It's a 168 that I bought new last year. I rode it twice and I really want to 178 instead. Dr D's might work out better since they are both in MT, but let us know what he wants to spend, and i'll think about what I would sell mine for. If anybody has a 178 that they would like to trade for my 168 let me know! Randy
  8. I have a few wood boards and love the look and beauty of them but I also like using stomp pads. The best I have found are these metal studs from Dakine. I think the gun metal color compliments the wood.
  9. . . . . . . . [/html] If anyone knows what kind of bindings these things originally were compatible with I am looking for a pair :) I have a hooger booger and it has 3 hole burton bindings mounted to it. I think the pattern is the same. Looks like this. . . . . . . . . . .
  10. Here's a good one for those that like to shoot. A range near where i live has an event this weekend where you can pay to shoot all kinds of weapons like belt fed machine guns, grenada launchers, .50 cals with exploding targets, flame throwers, and you can even learn to drive an armored vehicle. Check out the video on the web site. www.mustangrange.com

Yes, i would like to see what you have for specs on the carving boards. You can post here or e-mail to snowcarver70@gmail.com Thanks, Randy
  13. That's one fine a$$ wood board. Is the logo inlaid with something? If so what is it?? Looks similar to abalone shell.
  14. Welcome Joel, Congrats on ordering the new Donek, i'm sure you will love it. I rode some of their demo boards last year and i'll probably be ordering myself one this season. James is a great rider, there are quite a few of us that carve at Mt. Rose, hopefully you can make it up there sometime. Randy
  15. The bad news is that I fractured my ankle (lateral malleolus of fibula) last Sunday while mt. biking on the Tahoe rim trail. I went to the ER on Monday and the doc there told me that the bone I fractured could require surgery. I was worried for four days that I might miss the carving season, but the good news is that I saw an orthopedic surgeon yesterday and I won't need surgery. He put me in a walking cast, said I should be off the crutches within a week and will be out of the cast in six weeks. Now I can buy my Mt. Rose value pass. :D
  16. I enjoy bow hunting and fishing also. I just got home last night from an archery deer hunt. We backpacked into the Ruby Mountain Wilderness (gods country) in North Eastern Nevada. Spent 10 days in the wilderness and hunted for 7 days. I did not get a deer but I did catch my first fish using a flyrod that I bought just for this trip, it was a cutthroat trout. I caught the fish in Hidden Lakes shown below.
  17. Dave- Yep that the one. I didn't know the names of then before but I just found an article about the trail and it says the 2 waterfalls are Sahalie and Koosah. So were you able to see the falls from the road or did you have to walk in? I have to agree about the scenery it was amazing! Like I said I would recomend that anyone that likes to mountain bike take a trip and go to this place. This is a quote taken from an article: "The McKenzie River Trail is regarded as one of the best mountain bike trails in the U.S. Paralleling the McKenzie river and offering a wide variety of terrain, this trail provides challenging and scenic riding opportunities in the heart of the Oregon Cascades."
  18. Here are some pics from my mountain biking trip to Oregon, two weeks ago. These are from the McKenzie River trail, about an hour from Bend. This was a 26 mile ride and was the best trail that I have ever ridden. The trail winds through the woods mostly following the river with some good technical sections through the lava rock and some really fun and fast sections. The scenery was just amazing with all of the greenery of ferns and moss growing under the canopy of trees! We rode past two waterfalls and at some point the river disappears into the ground and then reemerges in this awesome blue pool. I would definitely recommend this ride to anyone that can get there.
  19. Thanks Mike, I'll be checking one of those out! :D
  20. So I have heard several people mention that Bend has some good beer. Can anyone recomend a good brewery that will sell pony kegs in Bend? I'm heading up there on Wednesday with a group of about 18 to do some mountain biking and wakeboarding and I thought it would be great to sample some of the local beer. Thanks, Randy

Yes they are fairly soft boards. I have ridden my 165 and it's a bit soft for my 220lbs. My friend Jami rides her 155 and my 165 and she really likes them. She is the right weight for the boards and is not a very aggressive rider.

Dan, I would like to see that sticker if you can get a photo. I wish there was someplace to find all the history of the old arbor boards and the munoz lines but I haven't found anything. What does 'NOS' stand for? You should take that thing out and try it, Jami really likes riding hers and unfortunately for me she really likes my 165 too.

Yep that's the base. It's one of the coolest I have ever seen. I thought about making a rack to hang it on the wall but with a mirror behind it so you can see the top and bottom.
