  1. trikerdad, Try this one Aspen/Basalt RV Park which is probably the closest. There are more in Glenwood springs, and a bunch in Marble/Carbondale area, but you would have to have another vehicle to drive into Aspen every day. If you know someone who is renting a house, you might be able to park in their driveway, but parking on the street is a no-go. There is a 2 hour parking limit during the day, so you would have to move your vehicle all the time. You can try calling/emailing the resort itself (I would suggest Buttermilk) and see if you can park in their parking lot, but it's a longshot for sure.
  2. Hey guys, Bomber is having a fall sale. You should get gear now before the prices go up. Go here for the sale. Michelle
  3. If you are talking about St Moritz, I don't think there is a group code. Just call up and ask for Roger, and then tell him you are with the SES 05. If you have problems let me know and I will call him myself. He said it shouldn't be a problem. Michelle
  4. If we get a big group together to go, I might have to go again. It was that fun!
  5. The St Moritz Hotel has agreed to work with the SES. They offer hostel type, normal "hotel" type, as well as a condo type accomodations at different rates. They have a pool and laundry facailities too. Nice guy at the front desk, Roger. They are very conviently located in town, walking distance to everything. Also, if a bunch of people got together, collectively you can rent a condo plus a few hostel type rooms and then everyone would have use of the kitchen and tv, etc. Then eveyone could pay collectively for the total price of everything.
  6. Triple and double triple the thanks going to Capt Ray and to Capt Joe for our week long stay on the Grace Bailey. I have just received my photos, and I can't tell you how much fun we had! I think everyone at the Bomber office is sick of hearing about it, because it's all I can talk about. There's still a bit of time to enjoy a cruise with Capt Ray. I agree with Shaggy and Cheri, the colors will make the event that much more beautiful (if that's possible, it was so amazing)!!! A huge thanks again to all the crew and people on the GB for giving me a vacation to remember for a long time!
  7. I would say pack your longer boards, because the runs here are nice and wide! Conditions could be a range, last year we had a super powder day, and the rest was fresh groomies. Usually (and I say this with a bit of caution) we don't have the super hard packed ice carving days lilke the East Coast gets, so I would plan for softer snow. Let me know if you need more details.
  8. Well, if I can add my two cents..... The Snowboard Journal is a great magazine. We paid the subscription fees like everyone else, and are glad we did. All 3 issues are sitting on our retired-snowboard desk in our waiting room, and we refer to them often. The articles are actually READABLE, not like some other magazines with photos of kids in the park, how much pot they smoked all 7 days of their paid trip in Europe, or how many times they thew up from all the drinking. I loved the article in the last issue about the old school Summit County, guys who grew up or got their start here and then moved on to become the famous people we all know them as now. Point being, there are some very cool shots of all snowboarding (although I have only seen one carving shot - Victoria Jealous in an older photo) as well as great articles. It's high qualilty stuff. Now, we just have to talk Jason into doing some articles on carving.... Here's an idea: what about a guest columnist every issue that has someone write an article about some aspect of carving, call it like Carver's Corner or something more catchy. Then have some high quality photos and get more people hyped about the sport. Let them know it's not just Euro carves or guys in speed suits. I like the idea of some girls carving, show them that chicks dig guys that carve as well (and we kick ass on the slopes too) ! The Snowboard Journal sent a rep out to the last SES in Aspen. His name was James, and he had some free issues for the raffle, and took lots of photos to write up an article. We have yet to see any articles about the SES, which is one of the biggest carving events every year. If the SBJ wants to incorporate carving into their magazine, they can start by featuring the SES events, as well as the ECES and the European ones too. It's out there, we just need some press to cover it. As far as how many carvers there are in the good ol' USA, LOTS!!! A lot more than you think! I know this because I fill orders for tons and tons of people throughout the year. I am always amazed at how many new people I have every year say they have never carved before. Also, at the last 2 SES events, we had about 5 new never-evers every day! They came to the demo tent, and gave it a go. They are out there, we just need to promote the sport, which is what we try to do with the SES and if the SBJ could help out, that would be fantastic! I think a discounted subscription for BOL members is a fantastic idea, and everyone wins.
  9. No worries John! That's the whole purpose of this forum, is to get people together! I hope it all works out for you. See you there!
  10. Funny, I JUST sent you an email. Great minds think alike.... Maybe you guys should get together with pm_wizard, he is also coming from Toronto I think. The Bomber parties are tentatively scheduled for Sunday night (opening night), and Friday night banquet, with probably something smaller inbetween. Give me your thoughts, maybe via email? I just saw the photos from the wedding, congrats!
  11. I know the Gant is fairly expensive. I think Molly Gibson Lodge and Limelite are about the same, a little pricy but you can check their web sites, or call Karen Keeley at 877-602-7736 X 7192 and tell her you are with the SES 05. She might be able to get you a roup rate or something, it's worth a phone call or email to her.
  12. for $329 you can get unlimited riding at A-Basin, Breckenridge, and Keystone from opening day (Thanksgiving) until May, and the Basin stays open until Late June.
  13. Also, sometimes if you are staying in a hotel in the nearby town, you can get a package deal that includes lift and transportation to the resort. I would also check on some web sites that offer "group" discounts.
  14. I did get it done at the Purple Lotus. But I can't remember the guy's name (shame on me!). I think all the guys that work there do fabulous work! This guy traced something that I designed, so he really did a great job. And the price was really good! I have had other friends get tats there, and they have nothing but good things to say about all the artists.
  15. I have 3 different tats. I say 3 different ones because the latest consists of 8 separate entities across my lower back and hip. The first one I got (a long long long long time ago!) is on my right back shoulder blade, and the 2nd one I got about 9 years ago on my right ankle. The last one I got about 1 month ago. I'll also try to send photos, but as Aisling said, it's hard to photograph your back! Maybe a mirror would work..... I had the itching on the first one for sure, the second one not too bad. The third one I had a bit, but only for a day or so. They didn't put anything on it, just some saran wrap!!! Maybe at the SES there can be a contest!!!!! That means you guys will all have to show up. ;)
  16. Hi Carp I THINK, and don't quote me, but the ThermoFit liners are what they call their Standard liners, not moldable. I could be wrong, but I can't get any info from Deeluxe's web site or catalog. Kneissel's web site is not working. If memory serves me correct, that's what they are. So the Thermoflex liner would definitely be an upgrade. No matter what, the Thermoflex liner is the only moldable liner they sell. The 10 yr old 124's that you have are probably shot. With as much riding as you guys do, I would think the plastic is just worn out. You would see a HUGE improvement in the stiffness of the boots if you choose the Indy, with or without the Thermoflex liner.
  17. I can say that from all the lodging people I talked to, if you guys all get together and decide to stay in one place, they will give you a deal. I think it's a great idea. Let me know which one you are thinking of, and I can set it up for you.
  18. In answer to your question "where do we want to stay" it all depends on your budget. You can stay in Aspen Valley if you can find someone to share a condo with, or do a B&B. Or, if you want to go a bit cheaper, stay in Basalt or Carbondale or Glenwood Springs, but be ready to drive a bit after riding/after parties. If you are staying in Aspen Valley, either Snowmass or Aspen proper would be good. The Bomber crew is staying in Aspen, which is where the town is and the "night life" is, although the after party events hosted by Bomber will probably not be in Aspen. Snowmass is a little less expensive, not much, but there is no "town" feeling, it is a resort. You can't walk from Snowmass to Aspen, it is about a 20 minute drive. You would also be limited in restuarants in Snowmass, unless you drove to Aspen for a night or something of that sort. Keep the questions coming.....
  19. Ok, let me give you the skinny on the driving times, etc. being that I just did it a few weeks ago. Summer, 2 1/2 hours from Silverthorne to Aspen. Means from Denver, 3/12 -4 depending on what part of Denver, traffic, etc. Winter: 3- 3 1/2 hours depending on conditions of the road and traffic from Silverthorne. Plan on another 1 1/2 - 2 hours from Denver depending on where in Denver you are starting from. The drive is I-70 all the way except the last 45 minutes. However, on I-70 you go through Glenwood Canyon, which can be really hairy in the winter, as the road will sometimes freeze. Plan on going slow through the canyon, then it's interstate the rest of the way to Denver, but you have 2 passes to cross. There is an airport in Aspen, also one in Eagle which is about 1/2 way. In the winter, they sometimes do specials flying in to Aspen. Once in Aspen, you will probably not have to rent a car, depending on where you are staying. If you are staying in Basalt, Carbondale, or Glenwood, you may have to because it is about 1/2 hour to 1 hour drive from the Airport. However, staying in Snowmass, Aspen, Buttermilk you can take shuttles to your hotel/condo, and busses to and from the resorts. During the day they are free, at night they are $2. They also have taxis. Snowmass is about 20 minute drive from Aspen, Buttermilk and Highland are in between. I will post maps on the SES site. Lodging: You will get the best deals on lodging if you are booking for 5 or more nights. Since Aspen is a destination resort, they plan their deals around people staying for a week. I have really researched this so that people on a budget will be able to afford lodging. If you can collaborate with a few people and share a condo, you will get the best deal. You can get a condo in town or at Snowmass for $150-200/night, and usually that will sleep 4+ people. I will be posting whatever I have found on the "Lodging" part of the SES page, so check there. I have also found some B&Bs that are affordable, and some hostel type places for singles that are $50+/night. So there are options. Best bet is to get on this forum, meet people, and share a condo. You can also stay at places like "Motel6" and such if you go out of Aspen valley to Basalt, Carbondale, or Glenwood. Basalt is about a 1/2 hour drive from Snowmass, Glenwood is about 1 hour. If you have a car and don't mind driving, that might be the option for you. Family stuff: there are so many things to do in Aspen that if you don't ski/ride, you can entertain yourself. If you have a family, there is dogsledding, movies, shopping, rec centers, cross country skiing, sledding in parks, etc etc etc. No one will be bored! If you haven't been to Aspen, it is a Town first, and then a ski resort. Lots of people live there on a daily basis, and it's pretty cool. Food: If you are staying in a condo, I recommend buying food at the store and cooking at home, with maybe a lunch/breckfast out and a dinner here or there. The prices for dinners are not much more than Summit County, although you can eat at some pretty swank places you can also eat for realtively inexpensive. There are lots of great resturants, and a couple of grocery stores including City Market and some health food stores. Lift Tickets: We have not yet determined the prices for the lift tickets yet, but yes, it will be under $50/day only for those participating in the SES. I will probably only have 6 day tickets, so the normal "can I go for just 3 days" may or may not apply through Bomber. you may be on your own for those, haven't decided yet. It really gets to be a huge issue when EVERYONE wants something special, and I have to keep it all in my mind :) (there's only so much space in there, and I've got 100 people I am trying to keep organized for a week!). If you still have questions, check the SES site. If you still have more questions, email me . You will get a much better response the earlier you plan, because come Nov Bomber gets a little crazy. Hope to see you all there! With the early response we are having, I think it will be a really big event, probably the biggest we have seen so far. YAHOOO!!!!
  20. We'd love to see you there! It is looking really big, so make your plans early for housing and tickets. Should be a good one! Let me know if you need help with anything.
  21. Check out the newest Tierney Boards here Bomber customers can get the new Tierney board (Urethane version) for $110 ($149 MSRP). Just mention "Bomber" at time of order.
  22. Hello carver-ites! Glad to see everyone is keeping busy in the summer as well and havin' fun! As most of you know, we have posted the dates for the SES 05. The dates will be Feb 14-18th, with possibly a day before or a day after for extra time on the hill. In other words, we will either have the Sunday before included (Feb 13th) or the Saturday after (Feb 19th). This will be decided later, but you can definitely plan on that week in particular. The other big news is that we have decided to host the event for the entire week in the Aspen Valley . This means we will not be moving around from Aspen to Summit County, and you guys/gals can rent one room and stay there the entire week. This means cheaper lodging, and probably cheaper lift tickets for all of us. Also means if you fly into Aspen you won't have to rent a car, although it is nice to get to and fro all the parties with all the new booty you will win at the raffles . :) I will be making a trip to Aspen this summer (yes, a hard job) to meet with the mountain managers, as well as lodging reps to try and get us a good deal on rooms/suites. I would start planning to share a room with someone if you are coming by yourself, it will help with the price! If anyone has questions, please feel free to email me and I will try to answer them. Know that I will probably have more information towards the fall, and once things get closer. I will post any new information I get on the web site, so check there for all your FAQ. Also, i am doing many updates to the web site, so check out the new Bomber photo galleries on all of our sites. Feel free to comment! Have a great, fun, safe summer! SES web site Michelle
