  1. Yep, my wife and I are adrenaline junkies, so we did as many crazy things as we could while on our honeymoon....sledging, zorbing, bungee jumping, cave diving, ice climbing, scuba on the Great Barrier Reef....fun times.
  2. What an unfortunate incident, my thoughts go out to his young family. My wife and I went Zorbing about 5 years ago in New Zeland after we got married. We had a fantastic time and still talk about it today. There are a few interesting observations form the NZ experience that I wanted to point out. 1) The course was completely surrounded by ~10' fencing 2) You could choose from a straight course or a zig-zag one 3) You could either be strapped in or allowed to bounce around with a bit of warm water inside the zorb (it was like being in a giant washing machine) 4) There was a giant catch-net at the bottom (and fencing beyond that) to ensure you didn't continue and hit the "clubhouse" at the bottom 5) Only one person was ever allowed to be in the zorb at a time. Just my general observations from the video. -Gord
  3. I've got a 158 older Volkl RT that would be a good starter board for East-coast trails. Smaller side-cut and still lively. Its been sitting in my garage for two years and is immaculate, so I'd rather see someone ride it than keep it. PM me or send me an email; tanner dot gord at gmail dot com PS; we're talking lower on the price-range. -Gord
  4. I've already got a 2nd board kit, but am looking for the rest of a set of TD2's standard. If you only have a full set, let me know. 3/3 is ideal and suspension kit or TD3 elastomers is preferred. Must be able to ship to Canada. -Gord

Is anyone here a Canadian Lawyer with dealings/experience in realestate? please PM me, I have a few questions regarding a recent sale. -Gord
  6. Different boards; ATV has a consistent sidecut and will ride a bit more damp/stable, the SBX has a shorter sidecut near the tail. This essentailly launches you through the latter half of the turn. Combine that with a stiffer tail, and it's a super-fun board, very lively and can punish you if you screw up. I used to have one mounted with PLS risers and Flow bindings...tons of fun until it got lifted at a certain Ontario resort known for board theft. So it depends on what you are looking for. Does it rail? yeah. Does it do well in soft snow and powder...not really. So in conclusion from my ramblings; if you want something for the North Shore that will handle soft-snow conditions, then ATV. If you want something that rails the hard-pack on busier days where you can't let loose on hardboots, then the O2 SBX. Also, Kabi takes great care of her gear (we used to race together a few years ago), so you can't go wrong at $150. -Gord
  7. Kab is good people. If I look back in my memory banks, this is a well kept board. Make a good offer. Luv ya Kabi!
  8. Son-of-a....I'm going to need to figure out a way to explain this to my better half...that's too fast, I could work in the "next season" angle over several months. :) Just rode my lovely VSR today at Blackcomb. Put a wonderful smile on my face. Thanks again Bruce! -Gord
  9. Was on Blackcomb today. Bluebird, cool and BUSY!!!! I got about 5 runs in on 7th (epic) before heading to the car to change over from plates. Just too many people for carving. My legs were shot though! Enjoyed the afternoon on two-planks. Probably won't be heading up tomorrow, my wife's knee is bothering her so we may just have a chill day. Have fun though and prepare for lines and lotsa people! -Gord
  10. Too awesome http://cbc.sh/gOrnrwB
  11. Charlie, txt me (check the ride-board) tonight or first thing in the morning if you want to ride the Tanker for the day tomorrow. -Gord
  12. Aiming for 8:45ish at Creekside Gondola. not 100% sure of whether or not we'll stay on Whistler. If we do, will probably be cycling around Saddle and Red Chair till noon-ish or when the crowds show. If we head to Blackcomb (via peak/peak) will be at 7th or Solar Coaster. 604-653-seven five two seven If you are on the mountain. It looks like a cool/sunny day! -Gord
  13. A couple thoughts; Prior ATV is a good softie-carver, but the 4WD has the liveliness that you may desire for HB riding. You could ask Chris to widen the board or change the nose profile if you'd like. Demo them for ~$40 and they take those demo days off a purchase if you make one. Coiler AM is always sexy as hell, but you are waiting until next year. Nothing beats the custom awesomeness of working with Bruce Dynastar 3800 - I wasn't a huge fan cause it couldn't hold an edge on hardpack, but I know BlueB loves them F2 Eliminator/Volkl Coal - BX boards. Older models have a bit more nose, newer models have a bit of early-rise in the nose. I've got a 2011 F2 WC model with titanal and it's nice and damp. I ride it with softies, but it could handle plates. You could also go pure SB boards that can be ridden with plates: Rad Air Tanker 172 - I have one you could try out Steepwater Plow 171 - there are a few lying around on the forum Garage - the one in the classifieds looks intriguing. There are other options out there, but this is a starting point. -Gord
  14. Probably Sunday and/or Monday. Plan will be to carve for a few hours in the morning until the crowds show up...then I'll probably switch to skis for the afternoon. I'll post my plans when we know more tomorrow. -Gord
  15. Sunday - Dec 23rd 17+cm of fresh Rode the Pri-Bor all day. It was a lovely leg-burning day. Cloudy, but the snow was just too good to stay away. Dry, fluffy awesomeness. Rode Whistler all day, did a lap of Peak-Creek to start off the day, and played in the trees all afternoon. Overall, not busy at all which was surprising. Wednesday - Dec 26th "Oh god, boxing day is going to be busy"....yeah not so much, 5 min wait was the longest lineup we had, although we didn't hang around the beginner lifts. There were definitely the "I just got this for Christmas" type of skiers/boarders around. Sun/cloud, ~7cm of new fluff. Played in Symphony and Harmony for most of the day. Some questionable coverage in areas that are more succeptible to wind.
  16. Friday Dec 14th Bluebird day, -7ish with light winds. No major crowds and enjoyed the day on 7th Heaven. I must admit, the tools of the day were skis...I know for shame. Overall, coverage was pretty good. Any off-piste stuff, you had to wait for the trees to ensure enough coverage. -Gord
  17. After enjoying my Arbor/Prior MFR bastard child this weekend, I may be considering selling my 172 Tanker...
  18. Same deal for Whistler. Yesterday Nov 25th: 9:30 am start and a shorter day so that we could watch the Grey Cup. Tool of the day: Pri-bor (Prior MFR w Arbor Element topsheet), Nidecker 900s & Palmer PLS. Rode on Whistler only, soft-pack and pretty crowded (expected for the US holiday weekend). Great weather, no wind, -5, sunny. Good conditions, a few thins spots, only the upper mountain is open, no Alpine nor anything lower than Mid-station. Some folks were hiking up toward Peak Chair, but there were more rocks showing through than normal. Overall, it was nice to get a good day in in November. -Gord
  19. Setup clinics, race clinics...keep me in the loop on these. I'd love to help out and perhaps get my foot in the door with Cypress. I'd still love to get a Performance Carving Masters Program going for the Van crew... -Gord
  20. PSA: Van area carvers. From what I gather, this weekend there is a snow-show in Abbotsford (Fri/Sat). From what I was told at the Vancouver show, the un-sold ski-snowboard gear from the Vancouver show is being rolled out to Abbotsford to be liquidated. Items I noticed on Saturday afternoon (one hour before close) that may be of interest. - NOS; Palmer super-cross boards...there were 3-4 all from 2002-2003ish 163/5cm or 157cm. Cheap bindings put on for the sale, each listed at $100. Investment opportunity perhaps, since you could probably make $50-100 profit by splitting them up and selling the Palmers here and ebaying the cheapo bindings. - 167 1999 Burton FP with Race-Plate bindings - $100 - 184 Rossi WC (Yellow topsheet) with Race-plates - $150 If I were in town this weekend, I would consider taking a drive. -Gord
  21. I've got one of these. Super-damp, rides like a metal carving board. Ultimate edge hold through chatter/ice/chop!
  22. Boris took care of the lifters... I have a line on some 900's, I'd rater keep the $ in the carving community if at all possible.
  23. I like to think of it as a good leg workout!
  24. Nice Think I have a line on some Rossi's in the 180 range. I hear ya Boris, but I'll also probably ski a bit more on days where I'm teaching him...so I'd like something fun for myself.
