  1. I love Ducatis, and if you just want a Ducati and nothing else will do, then I'm sure you will love the M620. However the reality is that the SV650 pretty much spanks it in most quantifiable regards, except probably cornering.
  2. Cool - hope to see you at the ECES!
  3. heh, well, nobody knows better than a NY fan that winning the division is meaningless. ;)
  4. sheesh Mirror, Beckman's curmudgeonry really rubbed off on you, eh?
  5. I haven't seen that article ripped anywhere, and apparantly Google hasn't either (yet). Got a link? I can't say I really care though.
  6. I think I have about 50 days on my original set of heels. I'm 170lbs. Only problems have been in sticky snow when it gets caked on the bottom of the heel, preventing engagement.
  7. Bryan, I'm sorry man, but those watermarks absolutely ruin your whole site. I know, ebay scams, but I don't think it's worth it.
  8. You might also check out the Prior ATV - basically a wider version of the 4WD.
  9. Yes, the Carving Community went largely unmoderated yesterday - glad to see the place is still in one piece! Here's what we were up to: Jack (red bike) and Bob (silver bike) in hot pursuit at NHIS:
  10. I wouldn't question Ducati, I'm sure they don't have the same intimate knowledge of the Snowboard market as you. I'm sure they just see Burton as the number one player with the added bonus of the appearance of having a soul. Burton does cater to the LCD, but not exclusively. They also make some pretty trick stuff, like $600 boards and $350 bindings. Burton and Ducati aren't completely analogous, but I can't really think of a better match for Ducati in the Snowboard market (although I can think of at least 3 small companies dear to us who could build a board with performance deserving to wear the name Ducati). Almost everyone else is either a ski company, a private label, or a 1 to 5 man operation. Ducati is not a 1 to 5 man operation. Burton does not make skis. Ducati does not make cars or pianos. Both probably have marketing budgets that rival their R&D budgets and both have "sold out" in the eyes of their early enthusiasts. But both have succeeded in the difficult task of simultaneously maintaining that air of "soul" and "heritage" while being profitable without outsourcing to China and while winning competitions at the world level against rivals with bottomless pockets. Not an easy thing to do, and I congratulate them both. "Core" snowboarders love to hate Burton just because they're the biggest and because that's where the posers flock. But aren't you glad the number one snowboard company in the world is actually a snowboard company?
  11. Yes, the USCSA nationals will be at Sugarloaf from March 7th to the 12th. www.uscsa.com. So we'll get to spectate some high caliber racing to boot! Bonus! (not to mention collegiate co-eds in spandex!) The dates of the ECES are basically predestined by two things: the dates of the SES and, the end of the season. We need a two week buffer between the SES and ECES to allow sponsors (and a few participants) to recover and regroup before heading out east. Early to mid March is typically primo at Sugarloaf, but having it in the third week of March would be inviting some more risk. Having it two weeks before the SES is way too risky, imo. The chances of low snow (read: ice) and bad weather are exponentially worse, and you are guaranteed less daylight and colder temps. Glad to see people are signing up, thanks!
  12. Sign-up here! http://www.eces.us/signup.html
  13. I don't think so at my current rate of 1.93 posts/day. We should have started deleting Randy's posts to keep up the suspense!
  14. questions from tex1230: - Are lift tickets included in the room rates you quoted? yes. - If we want an upgraded room in the Grand is there any discount? The package rooms in the Grand Summit hotel have 2 queen sized beds. If you want an upgrade, you can ask Sugarloaf, they are usually flexible and accomodating. - Can you post a schedule of events (other than the Thursday night Banquet?) coming soon! - What does it take to reserve the reserved/carver only trail? For us? Money. For you? Hardboots.
  15. Package deal pricing and more info is here!! http://www.eces.us/info.htm Some highlights: Expanded buffet dinner at the raffle function, including salad, soup of the day, bread, chef's choice of vegetables and starch, and your choice of 3 entrees - steak, chicken, or vegetarian lasagna - and desert. And announcing........ for the first time anywhere......... an Expression Session first.............. THE CARVER ONLY TRAIL!!!!!! That's right friends, on Friday March 9th, 2006, Sugarloaf has agreed to rent us our own private groomed trail. ECES sponsor Bob Jenney Designs has graciously stepped up to provide this extravagant luxury for us on Friday. We may be able to add more days depending on sponsor support. Thank you Bob! More info to follow, as it develops. GET PSYCHED!! The leaves are turning!!
  16. D-Sub Mark-I was the first to 1000 posts, even before me. So Randy is the first non-mod with the new names.
  17. You're going to crap in your pants when you see what it is. Actually it should be pretty obvious. :D
  18. http://www.uponone.com/dlv_videos181523.php?id=131 (warning: profanity)
  19. Go for it. Bob has the passenger pegs and seat. Chances are excellent that you won't get committee approval for funds for another bike for quite some time, especially after you start a litter. So you may as well get something that will last a long time now! Geoff, doesn't look good for me and that ride next week, but there is a slim chance. We'll see.
  20. Poor choice of words! Are you getting a bike?? You should get Bob's R6! Definitely on the fast side for a "beginner" bike, but if you treat it with respect it won't bite. Otherwise scour the classifieds for an SV650(S).
