  1. Nice find. Yeah, I'll never understand why they couldn't have reproduced those originals. I mean they're so obviously different to the naked eye.
  2. Keep in mind that in any over-center cam device, there is a way out. It takes certain circumstances and significant force, but there is a way out. Especially if you size your bindings for a little extra "feel" or flex. There is no way out of a step-in binding without something breaking.
  3. Hey guys. Like Steve said, I have blue (medium) e-rings under the TD3s, and I had yellow (soft) e-pads in the Sidewinders. I thought the yellows were too soft. I'd like to try the purples. I can see how some sideways flex is a good thing, but too much was bad for me. Pretty sure we should have some Sidewinder demos at ECES. Steve it was great to meet you and great to see you again Gareth. Always good to have some experts visit the loaf! You guys saw some pretty big blow-outs on my first day on that Vist thing. Too heavy for my liking, and the loss of some snow feel took a toll as well. It would take some getting used to, if I was determined to use one, which I'm not. Anyway, great riding with you both.
  4. I'll be at the loaf this weekend.
  5. ok so tell the story on how you scored an original Madd 180? I've never even seen one live or photographed until now. The cf wing looks pretty shagged, is it functionally damaged?
  6. You might consider putting some new Deeluxe Speed Model Red liners in your existing boots. http://www.bomberonline.com/store/accessories/hpd_liner.cfm Heat moldable liners are the silver bullet. Then get a used set of TD2 out of the classifieds. I recently rented a Burton softy setup in Jackson Hole, and as far as softboots go they were great, but I was still more comfortable and in better control in my hardboots, even off-piste. I only liked the softies better in powder. So where do you ride, neighbor?
  7. Vist works with just the 4-hole pattern, but you won't be able to lock the middle, which is fine. Bola (All Boards Sports) sells them. I don't know about the others.
  8. and how many days are on the binding? everything has a service life.
  9. sure, you can do that. once you start to feel yourself booting out is when it's time to up the angles.

    Cant

  11. The default stance to start with is to put your toes and heels as close to the edge without hanging over. This may result in parallel angles, and that is fine, but you may want to go 5 degrees steeper on the front foot. Then give yourself some toe lift on the front foot and heel lift on the back foot with no cant. Again, default. Experiment from there. There is some more info on getting started in the links below. Good luck and welcome!!
  12. The links for the Madd/Luccio patents take me to patents for Chris Klug and Mark Cruz...
  13. thanks, it was great. I rode for 4 days, and had 2 days of sun, 1 day of snow (6"), 1 day of clouds. And it snowed 18" the day before I got there. :D The place was in great shape. It would be easy to avoid groomers there, but I was with a crowd who liked them, and they were spectacular. I got plenty of trees too! Shred, that pano is 7 shots. That's the view from the Casper chair.
  14. Well, until we move them to the right forum of course. :p
