  1. Due to the weather, I won't make my decision until Saturday. As long as it's not suppose to rain on Sunday, I'll go. I'm at 6 days of riding.
  2. You should have known. Everybody and their mother bets on the Super Bowl. If it doesn't rain, I'll be there next Sunday.
  3. Whenever we have the JPMCS, I'll be there!!! Even if the surf is good.
  4. Conditions in the morning were PRIMO! I can't remember the last time I've seen Showtime in better condition. I'm glad you guys got back safely, with Andrea driving one-handed. The game lived up to the hype. I lost $10.
  5. Let's meet at the bottom of Bear Mtn Express at 8:00. I'm driving solo this time, so I should be able to get there earlier than before. If we don't meet up at 8:00, we'll be able to find each other at Silver Mtn (chair 4).
  6. I read this explanation. Am I right??? suppose vs supposed I did ace English over 20 years ago. How come no one wants to argue Cardinals vs Steelers?
  7. Does your 1st period English teacher look anything like this teacher <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zwG7h49oXM0&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zwG7h49oXM0&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
  8. Take that to your English teacher, and ask her who is right
  9. I disagree here. I got a PTC tune on my custom Donek 165 and Madd 158 SL. Couldn't tell the difference. I still might send my new Coiler to PTC at the end of the season, but mainly because I don't want a local shop screwing up my board.
  10. Yes In order of ferocity: There's Hatfield and McCoys East Coast rapper vs West Coast Rapper Celtics vs Lakers Skiers and Snowboarders Carvers and Jibbers then finally, Bomber vs EC:lurk:
  11. The way I interpret it, it's a subtle transition from front to back. Here are some screen captures from Carved: Rider is centered when at the start of the toeside turn, knees are bent. Farther into the turn, weight is slightly shifted to the back, you can see the nose barely coming off the ground, knees are bent even more.
  12. Yeah, slight mis-calculation in my part. You are suppose to look where you're going. Unless there's a camera around, then YES, definitely look at the camera ;)
  13. I guess it's actually two differing techniques. Volumes have been written. Here's the best free examples that I know of for each one: extremecarving/Eurocarving Bomber/Racer
  14. KC is calling you a girl because you rebuked him for not comprehending your post properly. Because you see, girls have their periods once a month and get all bitchy for a week or so. Hence, "Is it that time of the month again?". I'm all about safety and education.
  15. After Dennis' earlier report, I really wanted to take a vacation day and go to Bear on Wed. But I had a 2 hour conference call that I needed to attend. Come in to work on Wed morning, and the damn conference call was re-scheduled. I was quite pissed. Hopefully the conditions stay excellent over the weekend.
  16. Despite the ongoing debate at BOL regarding EC vs Bomber style; I've gravitated towards EC. However, with the Push/Pull techniqe, I would consistently chatter out when in hard / icy conditions (both heelside and toeside). J&P had always said that Push/Pull works on ice. I thought maybe I had the wrong board. I then got a Coiler Schtubby 171 which is suppose to be great on ice. When I got into icy conditions, I still chattered out toeside, but held on heelside. So I figure, it has to be operator error. Then I watched Carved (the full version) and watched it frame by frame. Watching the EC guys really bend the knees and transition the weight from front to back in super duper slow-mo, high def, it finally clicked. I finally understood the "feed the dollar" analogy. A few days later, I tried it out on the slopes. I bent the knees more and subtle transition from front to back; my toeside carve held in icy conditions. I was AMAZED. Before my revelation, I could carve a full 360 on my heelside; on toeside, I'd chatter out just past the 180 mark. After watching "Carved", I got to the 270 mark on my toeside. Now with the proper run, I'm sure I'll be able to carve a full 360 on my toeside. I think even if you're not into EC, "Carved" is the best example I've seen for "bend the knees" and "feed the dollar". I did have to convert "Carved" to .mov format in order to watch it frame by frame on QuickTime.
  17. Bullwings you're welcome to try out my Coiler Schtubby 171 on Sunday at Bear (I'm 138 lb). I'll be swtiching between the Schtubby and my custom Donek. I haven't ridden an ATV, but I've tried the Donek Axxess which should be comparable to the ATV. But, I would bet the farm that the Schtubby will surpass the ATV in all conditions except powder. I rode the Schtubby and Madd 158 back to back in the icy conditions we had last weekend at Summit, and the Schtubby had much better edge hold than the Madd. Demoing the Coiler could be an expensive proposition. Because once you try one, you're going to want to buy one. A new Schtubby is around $200 more than a new ATV. That extra $200 gets you a board customized to your weight and improved carving performance.
  18. Looks like we've got the Carve-Jib crew;) I don't think the super-pipe will be ready on Sunday, just the small half-pipe. I like hitting the hips and mediums size table tops. I only hit the occasional box / rail, but never with the alpine board.
  19. I've got an Oxygen Proton 149 SL that you might like. I've also got spare bindings and spare mondo 24 boots (Head Stratos). I also happen to be in So Cal and ride regularly at Bear Mtn and Snow Summit. I'll be at Bear on Super Sunday. You're welcome to try out the board, boots and bindings at no cost. If you like the board, it's for sale for $100. If you like the boots, those are for sale for $75. Bindings are NOT for sale. Check out the So Cal ride board. http://www.bomberonline.com/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=16
  20. Thanks for the offer, but I'll also be bringing a couple of boards. The Coiler (current favorite) and custom Donek 165 (old favorite). I want to verify that the Coiler really is sooo much better or if it's my imagination. I also plan on hitting a few of the jumps at Bear....on the alpine setup. When the superpipe at Bear gets finished, then it will be time to break out the freestyle board and softboots!
  21. A video review comparing competing boards / boots would be the best. We've often read someone say, "I carve my softboot setup almost as well as my hardboot setup". Or "board X is a POS/toy compared to board Y". Or "this board is so lively, I pop 10ft between edge changes". Or even better "this $1000+ metal board is the greatest thing since metal edges". Video evidence would separate shards of truth from hyperbole.
  22. When conditions are good, I actually prefer Bear Mtn over Snow Summit. The steep sections at Bear are longer than the steep parts at Summit. Showtime under the main quad is short double black. Good run to hit while I'm waiting for chair 4 to open. Exhibition under chair 4 is where most carvers spend their time. It's a single black, gets good grooming and low traffic. There's a short blue run by chair 4 also. Geronimo is the steepest run at Bear. It's less than a mile long. Only problem with Geronimo is that it usually gets bumped up pretty quickly.
  23. Who's in for some carving before the big game at the OTHER resort! Go CARDINALS!
  24. Damn, this would have been a good time to break out the Dupraz!
