  1. The snow fell all day yesterday, an easy foot by last chair. The swallow tails ruled the land..Our prayers to end the madness were answered today with Bluebird skies, miles of soft cord, moderate temps. Another day in the books from first chair until last chair. Come one, come all, thursday will be EPIC!

  2. Dear Mom and Dad,

We've been stuck here for three days in Montana.

Over 200 people over 3000 acres on the mountain. It's snowed over 22 inches(+56cm) since we arrived. Shred Gruumer and the rest of the crew are well. Today we actually saw some skiers on the mountain, while we were on the chairlift.

Sorry I haven't written sooner, we've been getting off the mountain late, and then drinking until midnight, only to get up for first chair each day(shred sometimes gets second or maybe third chair)!

Please wire money, for we may not be able to leave due to all the snow.

    Thanks.

We'll post pictures as soon as the camera dries out.

  3. shred crew, saw you guys up there. should have brought

your powder gear!!! i hope to see you guys monday or thursday.

hopefully the groommers will be good.

    west carven

    Hey West,

Not all of us forgot the powder gear! Epic saturday!

Groomers today were set up perfect! All the boards were "Humming" across the cord...Looks like powder again tomorrow!

    See you thursday?

  4. is there anything up there?

Handful of trails, good in am for a few runs, scrap by noon, even with no liftlines.....looks like november, not january. Heard in the lift line, northern VT got the snow this week..

going west next week, I'll try back here again in march.

  5. I broke one bolt last year.. found that I let my boot get a little loose in the binding over the course of a few days, causing the heel bail to bend, this in turn created an alignment issue with the shoulder bolts...essentially loading the bolts at an angle NOT 90 degrees to the centerline. Now, I make certain to micro adjust the bails using the lugs as a guide, to assure everything squares up. Assemble shoulder bolts with locktight on the threads, and bomber butter on the pivot surface.. After assembly the heel bail must move freely with no stickiness, otherwise readjust the lugs..

A side note: I destroyed the walking pads on my boots (deelux suzuka), particularly the heel pads, this contributed to the bent heel bail because the boot no longer wanted to sit square in the binding.

Long story short...check the entire system, boots to bindings. check for bent bails, bad heel pads, bad alignment, and lastly a bent plate..

wish you good luck, and safe turns.

Edit: didn't see your last post when I started this one..Let us know how it all turns out... PK.

  6. Look like I WONT be doing any riding for another 2 weeks or MORE

I'm finally putting the surf board and motorcycles away for the winter, headed out to Colorado next tuesday, into Montana by friday, back into Colorado a week later, and back home sometime after the SES in late February...

Airfare to Denver: ~$300 round trip.

21 days in a 4wd Rental car: ~two weeks salary.

cheap Lodging in Silverthorne: ~another two weeks salary.

SES tickets and lodging:~yet another two weeks...

Working two jobs the rest of the year, to escape the snow drought in January and working with Fin and Michele...while on "vacation".....

    PRICELESS:)

On a side note.....The magnetic poles and geography lesson is great!

  7. Doc, sounds like a great weekend.....I needed to hear this to get stoked for the trip. Back here in the East, I had to make lemonade out of lemons yesterday..Low pressure from the south brought tropical rain, winds and southwest wind swell to the beaches in Rhode Island...Almost perfect conditions for surfing on a 65 degree January day... :)

  8. Anyone know where I can get a cheap rate on a room in Vegas? I want to stay at the Luxor but the rates are outrageous. I've checked all my usual sites with no luck.

Shouldn't this read something like......"Hey anyone want to head to Vegas with me? Split a room, work the convention....."..

    Remember this is Aisling's thread.....

Almost 60 degrees in the northeast.....I might as well be in Vegas:)

    Happy New Year Michele!

  9. .

you just never know what can come of the briefest meetings with people. I have often said " I fall into better things than I could ever plan".

This describes exactly how I feel about meeting people at the sessions. Can't thank Brian enough for the local celebrity introductions two years ago in Aspen....If I had only known a little sooner who I was ripping down the trail with.....LOL.

Thanks for helping me pull my foot out of my mouth that day.:)

  10. ...I had rechecked this post before leaving at 5am...thanks for the warning anyways. On the upside, the snow was real fast this morning. Made 6 runs then headed back to the car. Maybe try again next week.

  11. It's 6pm EST, and all through the firehouse the smell of dinner teases the senses.

I just wanted to take a minute and say Merry Christmas to everyone in the Bomber Carver Community.. May everyone have a safe and happy holiday season.

Looking forward to seeing old friends, and meeting new ones in the new year.

    Long Live the SES.

  12. Disclaimer: I've owned 2 Impreza's.

I put over 100k on a 1999 2.5 Rs and yes, it ate a clutch at 90k when I got stuck in a heavy wet nor'easter screwing around. BUT, parts were plentiful and inexpensive. Thank you for SCCA rally. Lots of aftermarket support for the subaru.

Sold it after purchasing a WRX in 2004. Only oil changes, air filters, antifreeze, and one new set of snow tires in 65,000 miles.

Both cars, very reliable..even with a heavy foot behind the wheel.

IMO, The abundance of stuff available for the subarus makes it more affordable to own. And when you're ready to sell, someone, somewhere will want it for rally racing.

Don't forget to set a little money aside for a good roof rack..and a ski box.

    Good luck!
