  1. Green Ma-chine by Prospect Snowboards
  2. Absolutely, you guys bring up overall important point - our sport is far from carbon neutral. Since the majority of us are vintage, [poll: how old are you] wondering if the younger environmental sensitive SICK generation, as in . . . "Your awesome new snowboard is sick! . . . performance being equal, might prefer to purchase eco-friendly alpine boards.
  3. Any DIY-selvers or OEM builders experimenting with eco-friendly materials, e.g. bamboo sidewalls or hemp stringers? Apparently provides a damp and stable ride with pop.
  4. Obtaining both damp & explosive - challenging build?
  5. Lower your shields, surrender, you will adapt to service us, resistance is futile.
  6. With the european carving style how does one obtain what looks to be excessive forward lean on back foot? Is it the combination of heel lift and wide stance distance?
  7. <iframe src="http://player.vimeo.com/video/55665020" width="400" height="300" frameborder="0" webkitallowfullscreen="" mozallowfullscreen="" allowfullscreen=""></iframe> Not saying these are skwals, but their stance is skwal-like and the wider edge-to-edge carving sure looks like fun on the Virus boards - enjoy the video.
  8. Thanks for posting vid, ya look mighty relaxed, care to share board specs.
  9. Ace, any metal built into the Chimera and do the following specs look about right? Length: 175cm Nose: 18cm Waist: 12cm Tail: 17.5cm Sidecut: ~ 9m Decambered tip and tail.
  10. Hi all, short note to say that I'm passing on the booster straps (reason: expense to ship to Canada) - the red/black boosters are still available.
  11. Nice annotated video by Mattias explaining extremecarving on a skwal
  12. Serious enough . . . one can suffer a concussion caused by whiplash without actually losing consciousness. My symptoms on the hill included loss of memory pre and post knockdown. Also perseverating, repeating the same question ("I was in an accident?") over and over despite my wife telling me the answer each time. Almost a week later and I'm still monitoring for any further symptoms. One can only dare imagine not wearing a helmet.
  13. Hi Chris, if Paul passes on this - I'm also interested. CHEERS! Mike
  14. Big hurdle (mainly psychological) yesterday - dropped using the ski poles - feels good. Changed to wider stance than standard 4 cm. enabled flexibility and lowering of centre of gravity. Also lower my angles 5-10 degrees from 90. Getting closer to sweet spot.
  15. Rolf, thanks for your thoughts, much appreciated. I asked because another reviewer of CODA skwal expressed the opinion that a narrower waist width would be preferred. Suspect a chat with Chad at CODA would be best to serve one's particular carving style. Thanks again. CHEERS! Mike
  16. Local accommodations hard to come by because numerous hockey tournament(s) on same dates. The Mt. Tremblant Hostel still has lot's of shared dorms or private rooms (shared bathroom) available. It's in the right direction for food / drink get-togethers. Anyone ever stay there - your overall thoughts?
  17. I have older pair of m28-28.5 UPS Aigner boots, if they fit nicely consider them freely yours. I'll bring them to Vorlage though I might wimp out (let the abuse begin ) with forecasted -20+ temps.
  18. Silly me I assumed the Bomber steel receivers were already Catek compatible. Must have been these Virus riders from across the pond who scooped those rare Catek compatible Bomber receivers. <iframe src="http://player.vimeo.com/video/55665020" width="452" height="355" frameborder="0" webkitallowfullscreen="" mozallowfullscreen="" allowfullscreen=""></iframe>
  19. Last year a family member used a Quebec tow company to get out of ditch after skidding off the road at QC ski resort. Next day they wanted $800 to release the vehicle to the dealer. Alternatively, local skiers insisted that it would have been best to wait for the SQ police to provide towing service.

  21. Rolf, any thoughts on the off-the-shelf 13.8 cm waist with CODA skwal. Just wondering if narrower waist might be more appropriate for east coast packed snow?
  22. Convoluted cryptic message, my bad . . . I for one have been looking forward to Ace announcing the start of his production line of snowboard / ski / skwal boards. Congrats Chris, been following your workshop progress - looks awesome.
  23. Hmmm . . . NSSage, stay tuned later this month, maybe Ace can help you out
  24. Another option would be the PHK SKW Step-in.
