  1. When carving on steeper slopes and you don't want to get going too fast would you chose a shorter board and/or a board with a smaller side-cut radius?
  2. I saw a guy at Crystal Mt., WA, last friday doing some nice carving on a Lib Tech B-level snow skate. 77cm long, no bindings, just a skateboard attached with trucks to a very small snowboard. He couldn't do extreme carving but he was having a lot of fun.
  3. Interesting. I have three mid-eighties Van Dusens and after owning and competing in most every other brand, new and used, during my eleven year sculling career my old V.D.s are still my boats of choice. Who did you row for, college and later? Now, if I can only get my carve down while I, hopefully, have a few years left to enjoy it. Eighty-six year old Dick Kendall, and multi-time HOCR winner, is my sculling role model and Dick Spector, who was carving at eighty-six.5 at Buttermilk, is my carving role model. If you haven't read the BOL topic on Spector search for it or maybe I can figure out how to send it to you.
  4. I bought this great little board on this forum to get me over a hurdle and it did just that. tI has one season on it and is in excellent condition. There's probably not an easier turning and carving board available. At 6' 2" tall I now need a longer board. $595 plus shipping and I will package it personally which will save you $.
  5. I bought these boots on this forum because I had no other way to determine my size. These are definitely toooo small. I need a 28 or 29 so my quest continues. They are in very good condition and I wouldn't sell them if they fit me.. I just want to get my money out of them. $195 plus shipping. sold
  6. Corey_Dyke, It sounds like most would agree that the SX-91s don't offer enough forward flex as they are maxxed out in the video. Are they hindering me? I'm too much of a novice to know but I did have a break-out day today at Crystal Mt., WA, on my Ultra Prime 69, Burton plates, flat on the front and a 6* lift/cant wedge on the rear. I actually began to get the feel of linked, no-skid carves as I remember from fifteen years ago when I wasn't very good either. But I now now there's hope. Thanks for all of the comments. Beckman, Will I see you in Boston this October for the HOCR?
  7. I'might interested in your boots. How old are they and how many times have the liners been heated? 253-686-0839 Bob
  8. https://youtu.be/ruusaTnF1Zo Title should read SX-91 Thank you to all who have indulged my myriad topics and posts about boots, especially Beckman who may have answered my quandry best. I became hooked on carving after watching the VHS video in the early 2000s, "Pure Carve", if my memory serves. I tried every Burton boot, i.e. Fires, Reactors, Furnaces, etc., but never found any of them to work any better than my Solomon SX-91 Equipes which were, and are, my favorite ski boots and I've tried a lot of them in the interim too. I actually got so I could link some pure carve trenches during a couple of days when the conditions were just right. In 2005, for reasons I can't remember, I quite carving and went back to skiing. Now I want to learn to carve again and I want as few hindrances as possible so I am, once again, trying to determine IF hard snowboard boots will speed my learning. Please take a look at this youtube video and critique my set-up. I have numerous pairs of new and used boots coming and the ones that are the wrong size or, otherwise, don't seem like they'll help me will be returned or re-sold. I will also be ordering a 170 to 175 custom Coiler and F2 stepins from Bruce for next season.correct for my 6' 2" 150 pound body. At 72 I have no time to waste in getting the carve back.
  9. I have a pair of one season Deeluxe T325s, MP27 for $240 including USPS Priority shipping within the US.
  10. Would like to buy a pair of Deeluxe Track 225 MP 28.
  11. My Solomon SX-91 Equipe ski boots are super comfortable, have good forward flexibility, have no toe or heel overhang at 55/55 or even 60/60 and they have great lateral support. If I was extreme carving heel and toe might become a problem but that's a ways off for me. What are the disadvantages of using my Solomons as my carving boots? What are the benefits of hard snowboard boots?
  12. Using stock UPZ footbed liners. I'm still at a loss as to the advantage of hard snowboard boots over my extremely comfortable rear entry Solomon SX-91 Equipe ski boots. Toe and heel overhang is no problem at 55/50. Flexible forward lean is about the same in either boot. What's better about hard snowboard boots?
  13. Thanks a bunch to all for taking the time to reply. Your real world experiences really help a newbie.
  14. I received new UPZ RC-10s, MP 28-28.5 today and I'm very concerned about committing to them because I fear they will be too small. My foot measures 28 cm. With my bare foot in the shell, toes firmly touching the end I can just barely get one finger between my heel and the shell. Two fingers wouldn't even begin to fit, of course. Actually I'm using a long stick that is equal to one finger in one dimension and equal to two fingers on the other dimension as it's much more convenient than trying to get my hand in there. To get more technical I can just fit a wooden dowel of .90", ~ 22 mm, between my heel and the shell if I place them at the same time. I hear that the most frequent boot fitting mistake is going too large. These boots cramp my toes significantly with my bare feet in the liners in the shells. Leaning forward relieves the pressure somewhat. Walking in them would be pretty uncomfortable The liner that came with the boot says FLO on it. Is it a good liner? Your thoughts are appreciated.
  15. pm sent I will buy your boots as pictured, paypal you and add $30 for shipping, 253-686-0839 text or call
  16. Thanks from a wannabe for the informative comments.
  17. Is laydown extreme carving practically necessary in order to carve on steeps?
  18. Very useful information. Thank you.
  19. Do you measure foot bare or with the sock you board in?
  20. If I go for Deeluxe should it be a 225 or 325? If UPZ should it be RC-8 or RC-10? No intention of racing, just fun carving.
  21. My foot measures almost exactly 28cm. Is it likely I can get comfortable in a 27 UPZ? What about 27 Deeluxe? I have low volume foot and wear a US 11 to 12.5 shoe depending on brand and a C (narrow) width.
  22. How do the various models of boots compare to one another from each manufactuter? Is the ATB about like the Track 225, the RC 8 about like the Track 325, the RC 10 about like the Track 700, etc?
  23. If my foot length is 28mm would I be making a mistake to buy a MP 29 in a Deeluxe Track 325?
  24. Is the MP 29 Deeluxe Track Free 69 shell the same shell as the 30 and 31?
