Just to let everyone know, I had my hip replaced on Nov 22 and it went about as well as it possibly could. I’m following my post surgery instructions as closely as possible and already can walk smoothly without assistance. I mostly use a cane as the leg tires quickly and needs some support, with it I can walk a km or so before I feel I have done too much.
This season is toast but I should be good to go next year.
So happy to hear, Neil!
Well, very lucky me as I was positive I would have to go under the knife myself after falling off my skis onto my left shoulder and feeling a stabbing pain…I knew it was a bad sign. YouTube convinced me that with my symptoms I had a massive trashing of my Supraspinatus requiring surgery and a lengthy recovery.
I went to the office of my favorite Orthopedic surgeon at 8:00 this morning and, much to my surprise, got a 2:15 appointment. I then got a Thursday afternoon appointment with my favorite stem cell guy for a 2nd opinion and then stopped by my concierge GP’s office at 9:00, when he opened. He put my arm through different positions and sent me for an X-ray which he and I reviewed in his office a few minutes later. He pointed out a few possible defects and asked me to let him know what the Orthopedic surgeon said. This highly regarded shoulder specialist took one look at the X-ray and my arm, asked me a few questions and he said I have good news and bad news. Which do you want first? Before I could answer he said, Ok, the bad news is you broke your upper arm bone. The good news is the broken piece , about the size of a fifty cent piece to which the Supraspinatus is attached, is not displaced and it will heal all by itself if you’re pretty careful and you’ll be rowing and snowboarding after 6 weeks.
So, Boston during the third weekend in October to try to win the 80-84 single sculler event is still on my schedule! Resume snowboarding after we return from Maui in the middle of February. I consider myself to be one lucky guy!- 3

Uh.......then why sell it! You got too many Thirst's to choose from?
That’s about it.

Look forward to seeing that..
measured 20cm. Will post sidewall pic.

It's not the Quad strength! It's their hip/knee/ankle flexibility imo...... Strength does nothing if you can't bend/flex your anatomy into those positions! They are Gumby's.... they got to be way more flexible to get that low at those softboot angles!
No good reason to give up the SF.

I’ll say 20cm but I’d have to measure to be sure. It’s either 20 or 21. I should take a pic of the numbers engraved into the sidewall.

I was doing Korean soft boot carving worth watching all summer and fall, in my dreams, but after about one hour it became apparent that those Asian riders must have quads made of tempered steel and I don’t so the reason two of these boards are for sale. 1.Nidecker Blade 158 as new $450
Thirst SF, left foot forward, very close to new $700
all including shipping.
Look up the specs on the websites.
l’ll try to post some pics soon although there is one under something like “what’s everybody’s arsenal looking like this year?” -

Hoping to ride the Blade on my first day which I hope is November 30th at Crystal. My report won’t mean a whole lot but I will post it anyway!
Second day will be on my Nobile N8 158.
2’ of fresh at Crystal yesterday, poor grooming, i.e. very bumpy & lumpy underneath so very little opportunity to test the new Blade for carving but I can tell it’s is a turny little guy it it may take quads stronger than mine get good rides out of it. Time will tell.
My next day (probably next Monday) will be on the Nobile N8 158. -

Thanks, I did the graphics design so I think it was about an extra $85, they can design graphics for you as well but that gets more expensive. I've done a few of them that way, it's fun when you get to be on your own snowboard . Top part of the graphic is Vail last season on the super crowded day converted into everyone storming the castle / lift , then me walking through a dr strange portal and getting the whole run to myself on the bottom.
Yup that top sheet is way cool!

Brand spankin new Nidecker Blade 158 and Nobile N58 (thank you Lukas) will facilitate my attempts at K-carving on my first and second 2 hour/10 run days.
New Thirst XC and my black first XC (favorite board) and a nearly new SF.
I also have access to like new Coilers (172 AM, 166 and 162 Contras) which I gave to a friend of mine who is the only carver I have ever found at Crystal.- 1

Having ideal terrain and grooming sure helps as would having rock hard quads that don’t fatigue easily. If I could make turns like that a half dozen and I’d be heading in for a beer!

Those guys do get it done!

Beauty. Excited to hear your feedback on the Wildcat. And the full vs W camber! I’ve talked to Dave and will be getting him to make me something next year.
If anyone is curious, Dave Vaughan was a legit hardbooter and raced on the Canadian national team years ago. I haven’t had a chance to ride his boards but hear that they rip as wide softy all-round carvers, and he can customize to suit.Good to know. What do they cost?

nice!
Im worn out just watching!
No kidding!!! Hanging on to a couple of those turns and you could strike a match on my quads!!!
I’ve been trying those leg blasters and every time I do them my lower back hurts.
-
I make turns just like that…in my dreams and that’s enough to keep me going for at least one more season.

Only one week in, out of six, and rehab sucks already…feel like a one armed wallpaper hanger…have to operate my turn signal over the top of the steering wheel with my right hand. I know I shouldn’t be complaining compared to what some of you guys have or are going through.
