Another question: is the length between the front/back binding bails similar to Deeluxe or to UPZ?

IE is the distance required between binding sole blocks greater than UPZ...or same?

UPZ are shorter with the heel being slid further forward under the boot.

  2. I put 3 boards and one set of bindings on the top board in a Sportube 2 or 3 (use S 3 if carrying a wider powder board). Can do two sets of bindings on top board but staying under 50 lbs gets tricky with heavy bindings like TD3 SW.

Pipe insulation is way too soft to protect edges. It just moves out of the way for an impact like the above. I use corrugated cardboard strips and strap the board tightly together

Hint: Air lines don't weigh carry-ons so I put dense stuff in them. 😉 Like bindings.

  3. It is important when you're in a short term dip or rise to remember that fluctuations are normal and it's only the bigger trend that matters.

But wow, I've never seen a brown Christmas in central Canada in my life.

I will quote myself and inquire again.

    The answer is yes. 😆

It's a dumb answer, but it is VERY subject to personal preference. Some people like extremely stiff boots that are locked so any lower leg movement translates directly to edge movement. Some people like more ankle motion so their feet control edge angle.

Anyone that says one way is the only way doesn't understand that everyone has different goals in this recreational sport.

The best thing you can do is try the two extremes of stiffness and see which one you like more. New springs are pretty cheap compared to the rest of this sport!

  5. If you can't stand comfortably on carpet while watching TV or whatever, it won't get better on the ski hill. So start by adjusting away from any pain points on the carpet. And your partner will think you're cool! 😆

What do I mean by "adjust away"? If your shin hurts from pressure, adjust the cuff of the boot forward or lift the heel. Left side of leg hurts, adjust cuff to left or cant the binding to the left. Etc.

Than tweak from there once you're riding. It's much more comfortable (and cheap!) to spend the time on carpet first.

I run 6 & 6 on TD3s. Almost pure toe and heel lift.

Sore knees?!? 🤣 It don't care about no sore knees. That "buzz" is a full tongue-out raspberry saying "nice try, pudding boy. put a little more love handle into those turns...".

    LOL, love it! 🤣

And I'm still going to try it because I like experimenting.

The Vist Snowplate 17 is narrow enough, works with 4x4 inserts, and is affordable... anyone could add one to their MK to mellow it out...

I'll be trying an older Vist on my MK this winter. 😃 Hoping it keeps the wild MK ride with less buzz, but not looking forward to chairlift rides as my local hills don't have footrests. Or standing on the slippery nylon blocks on Tbars!

  8. Donek keeps the MK (Madd Killer) specs a secret as this was the work of many prototypes and tuning. Barry's is just a wider version, like mine. Stock MK is 18cm waist, ours are 20cm. Barry and I have been talking for something like 3 years about him buying this board. 😆

It's a VERY tight turning little board when you load it right. Saves the day for boring little hills that are mostly green runs. I find this board really bothers my knees on icy/hard snow, which I think is something with the different vibrations. It sounds closer to an old fiberglass board than a metal board. Loud on ice! But I love it when the stars align!
