  1. Love mine (#3). Traveled to Whistler with it twice and to SES already...

4 boards and 3 pairs of boots, plus bindings and other stuff packed in duffle bags… 92 lbs! total weight.

Sure, had to pay overweight… Other problem was, TSA opened the tube and had minor issues putting it back together.

Will use the tube again Tuesday flying to Aspen…

I think it’s a great way to pack lot’s of equipment pretty securely

  2. It shouldn't be that different from riding a Skwal with 12cm waist... I use 85-90 degrees. It all lateral pressure, and your weight will be close to the edge allowing loads of it at the right place. I often skid when riding alpine boards with lower angles, but that'll never happen with the Skwal.

I am not planning on 85-90 degree angles… :nono:

When I put my bindings on the Black Death it actually did not look to bad at all… more like 72 or so… will see...

You skid riding your alpine board, but NEVER with a Skwal

    Hard time to believe.

You sure that’s just the angle you’re ridin?

  3. Out of pure curiosity, how do you ride a board with a 15 waist????????????? Do you need to have size 23.0 MP boots or 75 degree angles.

Black Death :biggthump Sure, small feet help, but also boots with a short sole print… angles will non the less be pretty high.

I know some guys who ride the Cyborg (181cm w/14.1cm waist!) with big feet and they love it :D

Once I have the Black Death tested I let you know how it went and what kinda angles I used.

  4. After two years of stepins, I tried some standard bails yesterday.... I really missed the convenience of stepins.

Has anyone used a stepin in the back and a standard bail in front? Any issues to be concerned about mixing and matching?

    Thanks

    JK

I know some guys who use bail in front and SI in back… works fine… BUT, depending on what size guy you are I think it’s more important to see which binding delivers you better performance over convenience!

If you are a big guy you might not feel much loss of lateral flex with step-ins. For some lighter guys it’s sometimes helpful to stick with bail bindings to get enough lateral flex.... but on the other hand, regular bails might be to soft if you are a big guy… or, you might not even want lateral flex.

I would test for performance and would make the decision that way...

  5. 162/17.5 Rocket… Built with mostly the standard high quality components...

plus some carbon fiber enforcements… Flat white top sheet with red sidewalls and black base…

The Virus special edition UPZ boots… These have a softer tongue now…

I did not try them yet, but from testing at home, they feel really great.

Defiantly softer now. I had big issues with the red ones… way to stiff for my taste.

added cut in the tongue to distribute pressure a little better…

I also like the fact they are black now…

My Black Death with the “no wax base” arrived as well :1luvu:

but it’s sent to PTC already :D … pics later when I have it back...

  6. Paul I've been wanting to get a Virus for two years but Santa Claus forgot me both times so I figured hell I'll put one under the tree myself. I raised two boys myself and must have bought a dozen surfboards a year for each of them. They'd snap em and I'd buy another one.Well they're grown and all Dad wants to do is carve.Buy it.

    Merry Christmas Frank

    Frank,

Nice, that’s the spirit! Always good treat yourself once in a while :D

Stealth is a great board! Can’t wait to see the pics.
