  1. Mmmmmm , I defiantly was confused as hell for a bit, but now I am relaxed because I gave up, lol. I tried logic and wondered why a guy 150lbs heavier than me with puffy size 12 EE feet- 2 1/2 sizes up from mine fits into a mondo 29 perfectly and I fit into my mondo 29's perfectly and my liners are packed out and his are almost new, so that didn't work. Then Tex called me on being lazy "again" for not reading past posts.:D Now my reptile brain has take over I poured wine into my skull and went into cyber slap stick mode and started posting a made up game called "Name The Mystery Bomber " while waiting for this Fri for my local mountain to open. In the mean time a cool BOL user on another topic forum thread here "nailed it" with one of the prime reasons I didn't think about as to why my nose caught & stuffed while going real slow as I was checking my speed doing a 45 degree heel slide to really slow down ot not spook a couple NUBs sitting in the middle of the freeway last Feb which ruined the rest of my season. His assertion was ( without his knowing my board and wax situation ) was a possible lack of a good applicable wax job which makes the board want to grab and slow in deep late after noon slush , mush and skie'd up ruts while going slow. My board a rock board I bought here at that time was my 1st which had massive series of bald spots under both binding bases were the P-tex was completely worn off > gone <, thus no wax adhesion in the weighted friction zone middle of my board , this could I don't know but it could very well contribute to exacerbating a stuffed nose , not completely but ad to an already bad situation as I was compeltely relaxed , very tired & sore and totaly nonchalant at about 10mph as the nose literally "stopped" as if I hit a hidden tree stump , the tail snapped up a couple feet in the air, the rotation went from about 45 to 90 and a loud "pop" as my nose side ankle ( I'm a goofy ) broke in my packed out old boot's . So my common sense angel was having a conversation with my Hommer Simpson self and it said: "Hey Steve why don't you get a better board, and up date those old boots with a Termo liner or nice foot beds or just buy a better pair and then when You hit the mountain again this year you will have no doubts that it's You and you alone that SUCKS and you wont be able to blame your equipment and I ( angel of common sense ) I can go have beer while you go find a tree to hit, :ices_angelol. Hommer Steve: " Mmmm beer, I like the way your think" Angel: "You didn't hear a dam thing I said did You" In the mean time my newest and only 2nd Alp stick has arrived a pristine 9 1/2 out of 10 Volkl RT 185 and my upgraded bindings are also on the way, so alas I am trying to re-boot so I have hard drive this season, ;)
  2. Cause I want to also check out getting a new pair of back country skis biding & boots for off track, also check into alpine after market liners, choices of foot beds, and the process for an orthotic and put my feet into my mondo in a ski pile of new ski boots just for s**ts and grins and speak to long time boot people , also if or when I buy new pair of Deelux from Fin I will have no excuse oin my side to keep any possible return and I can back it up by saying Joe's Ski Shop measured my foot not me , and I can blow an hour or so of work off and get paid for it, ;)> gota prob with dat ?
  3. Yes, 1 of my manifest problems or issues the day I stuffed the nose only going about 10 mph was a wax job that sucked due to having my 1st board which is a rock board that has huge areas were the P-tex is completely gone. So I slowed from very fast almost bomb with a few hard carve overs, then down to cruise and once I came upon some NUBs sitting in the middle of the freeway like NUB's always do I came way down so as to not be a jerk I then slid on purpose to a heel side 45 about 50 ft up from them to slow to 10mph or about that, then while coming back strait out of the slide as I now checked my speed down to 10. Mind You I am now in the slush bumps, so instantly it was "STOP" as the nose stuck / stuffed while still in the heel slide, so the tail snapped up about two feet into the air and jerked even farther doan the fall line into past the 45 to almost 90% so it was > slide- STUFF -snap UP & "pop" goes my ankle all in a split second at very slow speed, literally broken in 2 places inside my H-boot. So my older 185 Oxygen Proton rock board is just fine and rides like a Cadilac at "speed" but slow it down and come into mushy higher temp snow and "eeeerrrrch" bald Ptex patches start to come into play on high temp snow the sound of a sudden violent slow down can happen. So You guys are right on about wax and slush mushy slop & chop. Update I have a Volkl RT 185 with a pristine base so no more baldy boy Proton. You will really notice this on cross country skis, when you are just gliding smoothly along in a track and then hit a sunny spot and all of a sudden "eeeeeerrch" you end up bending over for the soap if your right in the end of the power pole and step glide were both skiis meet each other before the next ski glides past while they are together in neutral "fump" skiis slow suddenrly body keeps going poles plant but dont stick = leave a happy face outline, lol At a minimum your gona have to pick you nose clean cause of all the snow jammed up in it aka stuffy nose from a nose tip scuff to stuff in the sunny mushy fluff , lol

  5. Thank U Michelle, and thank U all for adding some input to what "was" VERY confusing. I will be at the ski shop to measure my feet in CM's. I am glad You say "return's" cause I think I remember reading that Fin said somewhere on this site in a primer on boots and sizes about something like > If your new boots You bought from me don't fit, tuff toe nails cause there yours now :)< . I would freak out if I paid $500 for a pair ( which I am willing to do & ONLY buy them here to support BOL ) Imagine, I open them up like a boy on Xmass day ,put one foot into one and find they are so small I cant even get my foot in and then I call and get Fin's answering machine > "Hi you have reached the BOL merchandise returns call center, unfortunately there is NO return center , but we do have some nice elevator music to listen to if you want to stay on hold till hell has packed pow" . So I am getting my NuB tooties over 2day to get measured the right way. :D
  6. Mmmmm whiskey and home made stew  My rather bent blather is based on winter Sunday night trivial pursuit we play on 2meter FM Ham radio ;)
  7. Thanks , I am going to the local ski shop to have the mondo measured to get the right boot size so I can get this over and into a good pair. ;)
  8. Advise ? I appreciate all Your advice but I am more confused then before ( humor me ) got burned out in my last "NuB Seeks Advice" post here trying to figure out should I get liners, or foot beds or orthotics, or foot beds and liners or orthotics and liners oy vay, *sigh. I "was" thinking on attempting to pump up my old Nordica 3 buckles before this season starts about next week. I got a bright idea and so I posted a "wanted to buy" ad here for a very late model pair of clean higher end boots that fit a 10.5 very average foot. Well I gave some erroneous information in my WTB ad based on my 1st and only pair of Nordicas that say > 29 / 29.5 on their base. Being naive I assumed that my next and much better pair of boots will be 29 and fit me like a glove like my old packed out Nordica's. ( hint > packed out < ) do. So two nice fellows here both separately offered me a pair of Suzuka's in pristine shape , both are size 29, well come to find that one of those nice guys is twice my body weight and has a size 12 foot. Soooooooo Delux owners who have a true 10.5 size foot > what mondo size are your deelux boots, yes with an after market liner in place, what size fits Your 10.5 foot. Political Statement: Its time for us 10.5 guys who are the nations average sized guys , time for us to stand up and take back the shoes and boot industry and make the world conform to us, LOL I dont want to waist the time of the guys offering me a sweet deal on clean Suzuka's in mondo 29. If you have a 9 or an 11 it will only confuse me because you are living in a different paradigm, > I need to talk to 10.5 guys. :)
  9. Ask the gentleman who posts a whole lot here who goes by the handle > www.oldsnowboards.com, ya the domain is also his ID on this site. He lives in Portland and does all the Mnt's in the 100 mile circle from Portland and he has perhaps the largest collection of alpine boards in the world. He sells and demos dozens of them, and he has an encyclopedic knowledge of everything alpine. I am sure he would be more than happy to meet You and let you demo a cool alp stick. ;)
  10. Yes Ladies and Bomber jocks we have a winner. Our winner is Puddy Tat The proper name of the mystery Bomber is "The Big Canuck" all other nick names may apply but rules are rules folks, so the Canadian Kahuna, the Psycho Cycle Slasher, the Board Monster , the Coiler Mnt Sasquach, and any other non proprietary personal colloquialisms do not apply. Charlie do you want to tell our winner what he has coming. I sure do Steve, Puddy you and Your board are going to go to HAWAII , ( audicance goes mad,YAAAAAAA ) Side Note: we just got this audience from the next studio over they came over from Oprah and they are a wild bunch of air head yuppie chicks. 11. SORRY Me E is >>>>> incorrect Charlie do you wasn't to tell our second "looser" what he has in store for him. ( commercial announcer voice ) Why yes Steve ( trap door pulled open, announcer grabs your board as you fall so we can ride it after Your "gone" ) as you suddenly fall into a vat of common Olympia beer Our 2nd looser wins a nightmarish near drowning in a pool of piss poor pislner "Olympia " , oly the beer of the 12 nooner snow park rat & Homer Simpsons every were enjoy an Oly when you bonk that Olie ( audience clapping like mad as 2nd looser struggles to climb out of the beer pool to retrieve his nice alp board form Charlie the announcer as Charlie says)> "Ooooo he is hopping mad Steve" . Give him his board back and an a case of Fin Butter audience says > "Yaaaaa". 2nd looser is now been mellowed and bit drunk and now buttered up and ready for the lift line.

Ohhhh sorry Dan The Man, its not Shaggy, but good guess, well, we have some fabulous parting prizes for You and here is the beautiful Marilin ( manson ) to tell You what You won as a looser on "Whose That Bomber". ( audience ) clapping as a demon leads a smiling Dan out the back door. Our next & 4th clue to the identity of the Mystery Bomber is: "My bicycles pay for my snowboards addiction" Our next contestant to step up and take a guess is ???????
  13. Yup me wrong as Jethrow said : " I are a fif grad gradiate, lol.
  14. Sorta ya and sorta na, What I mean is, like your other reply, > I too have never had all the problems that every 1 bitches about with them. I thinks it's because: 1) I take care of my equip... and 2) I am not a park rider, and 3) pour hot water / hot tea /hot coffee on them when I take a break so they are always free for in & out. Are they the best base binding for all Mnt free carve No, > see Catek. Are they junk , No
  15. Sunday Night Trivia: For all You regulars, it's time to see if You know You friends out here on BOL by the clues given below. I;m your host Steve Bored ( to death cause the rain here is NOT snow ) Ok, Your first mystery Bomber friend is 1st clue: He says "Aye" when he speaks. 2nd clue: "It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad world" 3rd clue; he has been hard booting since the early 80's Clock is ticking, and You will win a fabulous brand new custom Titanal hand made NOTHING 187 made by the No 1 maker of nada for playing, lol.
  16. Went to the local Army Navy Surplus and found bran d new NOS winter cold weather suspender bibs with the fake bear fur ( wool blend ) $20 bucks, rip stop nylon outer, wide flair boot bottom cuffs, nice mild dull green color t-w-e-n-t-y bucks people.:) There is a rack full of them. They are not water proof but then again I don't spend a lot of time eating white s**t on my ass so I look kinda yuppie " I don't give a dam" cool in them ( only in my mind ) See profile photo for Military bib shot. ;)
  17. I have noticed as a NUB to alpine ( tho long time SB'er) That my board will "dead" stop if its in slush, or beat up post skier crud. In fact I broke my ankle in a miniature version of your more radical incident. Seems to my virgin hard boot body that these boards are Ferrari's and as such they run in a narrow band of snow pack conditions extremely well but take them off road'ing or above a certain temp and your gona die. Seems to me they need groom and only groom , fresher the better, so now days I am on the lift 1st thing, very 1st guy on the mountain and off by the time the bong loaders wake up and hit it at noon. Sorry to hear your not got torked, perhaps you can still mount up and compensate by not extreme carving just doing the blue and soul surfing for while ? Oxy and Beer MMMMMMMMmmmmmm your getting sleepy, lol. take care
  18. I "just" bought a pair , and ya > 28.5 not 29.5 is my size
  19. I don't want to mis-quote the boot fitter that I had the long conversation with, I do vaguely remember him talking about orthotics but I was getting over loaded with info. It was like talking to a very pretty women with nice giant boobs, I asked her for directions and all I remember was > turn right a breast lane, LOL. :D. So , ya I am going to invest in orthotics and just move on from there and asses them ,and re-eval whether I need a liner if the fit and comfort is not what I wish it to be after a session or two. thank You
  20. Sorry but I bought the Volkl RT last week  > Post your own ad here wanting to buy and you will be very surprised how many cool people jump up and offer you good equipment at a sweet deal price in what ever category , make , model etc....that you state on your ad. ;) regards Steve
  21. Thanks for taking the time to comment I know Your a Goo Roo when it comes to alpine. So what brand of foot beds are in the $175 range , that is much more reasonable than $300, are the foot beds you run the same Thermo-flex brand as your liners ? It seems that I can buy a decent pair of foot beds and when I am ready to move up to new boots I can transfer them over to the new boots. I do that with the cheepo Dr Dingaldorph cushions liners that I get from WallyWonkaWorld, I switch them into my other street shoes, lol If I am correct , the consensus seems to be that even tho a boot is so called "top of the line" and very pricey the liner is going to be like all other liners and not as good as aftermarket ? I was under the impression that when You buy a Ferrari ( boot) you don't need to buy tires as they already come with Pirreli tires ( liners ) attached. thanks:)
  22. The boot Yoda who I had the nice long convo with walked me over to the foot bed's in the shoe/ boot section of the mountaineering store we were in and showed me the beds for sale there and said Here Steve these will do, the beds he was showing me were the only brand on the shelf which came in a lime green or a blue color ( if that is a description , lol ) I can remember the brand name but they cant be found at the local Walgreens drug store. He did not mention $300 foot beds, and I think it's because I have old boots and would just buy new ones if i had to put real money into them. I am going to check the site called Foot Forum because the boot Yoda mentioned there may be the guy who dropped into Medford, could be the same guy. Anyways I have been looking at al the nice shiny new boots and i cant tell what the difference is between a $350 pair vs a pair almost twice as expensive ?
  23. RIGHTEOUS > I just flew over Bend / Mnt Batchelor in my buddies little experimental airplane ( partial home built ) to get a look see at what is spose to be one of the best l-o-n-g run mountains in the west, and "Ya Baby"> Bachelor looks like an Alpine style mountain with w-i-d-e & l-o-n-g runs, so if a boot Yoda is on hand there then that will be 2 reasons to do an alpine road trip :D
