  1. <IFRAME height=548 src="http://connect.garmin.com:80/activity/embed/77982251" frameBorder=0 width=465></IFRAME>Used my Garmin Forerunner watch that I normally use for running. :)
  2. I would love to buy a board like this...I just need to have my local ski area widen all the runs first :)
  3. Well below freezing at open and stayed cold and cloudy until about 1 PM. Great carving day! Snow a bit slow but perfect for trenching up with awesome edge hold. Even less people then last Sunday. Went with E. Fathead and my skier carving friend. Super conditions for this late in the season. The avalanche walls alongside Hwy 2 from this past week are huge.
  4. Were your liners heat molded with the cables already in the shell? I had by boot fitter tape the cable sleeves to the inside of the boot shell just behind my ankle bone. Then the liners were heat molded. Now when I take my liners out there is a small molded "groove" that fits the cable sleeve perfectly. If I ever put the liners in and don't have the cable in the groove it is painful.
  5. Thanks for dredging up an old post of mine. Like I said it was punk kid types, not carvers who broke into my house and stole that board. I am sure they had no idea what to do with it...so sold it. You might be the second or even third purchaser. No big deal at this point. Local sheriff office did eventually catch the group. This is also a stock Prior offering so might be many of these around.
  6. Great day for a weekend. Lots of sun on the drive up and for my first few runs but by 10 AM it started snowing off and on with poor visibility on top of Skyline. Snow stayed surprisingly good for carving all day. A bit damp so it stayed packed. Did lots of runs with my skier friend on his carving skis. We had fun "shadowing" each other. Left at 2 PM. No line at Skyline or Tye Mill all day. Occasional short line at Hogsback. Grooming on Tye was perfect.
  7. Nice looking mountain you have there! I like the wide looking runs.
  8. Yesterday was spring, today was winter. Windy, cloudy, snow flurries, and never got above freezing. Grooming today was VERY inconsistent...some of the worst I have seen all season. Lots of ruts, grooves, and chunky areas all frozen HARD. Some areas were great and then you would hit ice patches with balls of ice on top. After several runs I quickly figured out where the bad and the good places were. Certain areas were awesome but no one run was all good. They must have groomed when everything was wet. On the plus side it was FAST and no moguls even by midday. No line all day on Skyline. It needs to warm up and be groomed a few more times.
  9. Interested in buying or trading a good condition carving board for a used powder board. Fish style shape for trees and small bowls. I weight 185 pounds.
  10. Bumped back up after a week. Not looking for a fancy pow ride, just something to mess around on.
  11. Tuesday 3/15 Another big powder day. All the groomers had 4-9 inches on top. I took one of my suppliers for a tour of the mountain. We did every lift but spent most of the time on the backside. Snow did not get sticky until about noon. Business was done on the lifts! He bought me lunch in the lodge. Made an appearance at work at 2:30 :) Saturday 3/19 Claim of 7" overnight but every groomed run had no new snow on it so the dump must have been around midnight. Tried to carve but everything was way too soft. 6" inch trench type conditions. Runs got chewed up very fast so just rode trees and off piste all morning. Sticky snow by 10:30 everywhere due to sun. Crowds minimal for a Saturday. There is a Masters ski race today thru Monday which is closing one side of Skyline(left when you are facing up). Both days on Donek Axxess. Great board for these days. Sunday should be fantastic with a bit of sun on this new snow and then a frosty night of grooming.
  12. So here I am deep into my second year of carving and like most people here own a small quiver of different boards. I have yet to take a board in to have a base grind and new structure. How often do most people need this on a new board? How do you know when it is time?
  13. Dude...chill out on the board sale. Every post you make is about mentioning that board. A 4WD is one of the easiest boards to sell on this forum. Patience brother!
  14. Glad that your event was succesful. I was at Loup Loup last year one day in Februray. Sorry that I did not make it this season. I will try and come next year.
  15. I just checked. I had them reversed in my first post. I must be going color blind in my old age. :)
  16. I use both but weigh 185. Yellow is on my Donek metal Freecarve. Blue is on my Donek metal Axxess. I had yellow on the Axxess for first half of the season but then switched to the softer blue with the idea that in chopped up conditions they would be better. They seem to be a bit gentler on my knees on bouncy stuff.
  17. I have a sweet carving board that I would like to trade for a fish shape/style used powder board. I am 185 pounds. Can be an older board and can be at end of season if you want. I am the second owner of a Hot Blast 178, 13 meter SCR, 20cm waist. The first owner never used this board and I only have about 25 days on it all from last season. Still has original structure! This was the board that I learned to really carve on last season. With my new metal 179 I never used it this season. Looking for a straight up trade, no cash deal.
  18. Of all the cars I have owned this is my favorite. Will hold a mountain bike standing up on the inside. My boards always go inside too.
  19. Well that is good to hear. As I wrote earlier in this thread. "What if enough existing season pass holders were to complain to the management?" Sure we might not be banned from the mountain but we might not get discounted lift tickets and early loading to tear up a run before the public even gets out.
  20. "Rut Police" If I ever see that happen....
  21. Well, well, well. Today was a great lesson in how quickly things can change in the mountains. Morning snow report said 0" inches overnight but snowing lightly at 5 AM. Drive up from Sultan at 7:30 in pouring rain which changed to wet snow by Index and all snow on road by Baring. Saw a van upside down in the ditch just past Skykomish. Arrived at the lower parking lot at 8:30 to find 6 inches of new snow and snowing hard. Nice fluffy stuff! No powderhounds showed up. The smallest crowd I have seen this season. :) Groomed runs were all buried but great fun. By 10:30 it was starting to warm up and the snow got sticky and then really lumpy. Visibility was nonexistent at 9 but pretty good by 10:30. Snow had tapered off by midday. Left the mountain at noon and was on wet roads most of the way back. Donek Axxess Metal 172 rocked today. I love how versatile that board is.
  22. I was thinking. What if lots of people complained to a ski area about snowboard carvers leaving big trenches? Would they try and shut us out? Prohibit certain areas or runs? Not let us come on weekends? Remember they run a business first and foremost. As a business you need to listen to the largest group of customers and do what you must to keep their business. Schweitzer invited us to come. What if this guy gets management's attention with a letter and we don't get invited back next year? I certainly hope to never to see some of us banned from a resort but it does make you think. (back to making my ruts...for now!)
  23. I am working on something similar on a paddle that records force.
  24. Hilarious on that skier dude! Had a similar situation about a year ago but the skier would not say anything to my face. Kept bugging the lifty to say something to me.
