1. I want to come and play this Feb! All you SES vetrans give me the beta on what I need to pay and and where to stay. I saw the Bomber Package deal and will probably go with that and at least the six day pass. I can get RT airfare form Reno to Denver for $320 or Aspen for $550 Yikes! This is adding up quick!........any you guys want to rent some of your floor space to a poor mofo........hook a Brother up! Have sleeping bag - will travel!
2. Come on Guys - Dig Deep in those Closets! I know somebody out there has got to have some old Oxygen plate binding parts sitting around in a box somewhere - hook me up!
3. Yep - Looking for old school Oxygen Plate binding parts....specifically the doughnut angle rings that went under the boot/bail plate you can email me at: barryj01@msn.com
4. Bski - Mt. Hood is a 9 hour drive for me...I'll save my money (and back!) for SES 2013! Tom - I spent twice as much time in the car driving than boarding and it was still an Inf...ingcredable day! Don't think Stump Alley was open. BJ
5. Well, sad to say, but last day of the season for me Made the 3 hour pilgramge from Squaw to Mammoth for some last turns of the season and it was great! The lifts open from 7:30am!!! to 1pm......I would guess only Ice skaters(or the US ski Team, as they were there!) could enjoy being out there before 9am! I shoded up at 9am and it was still icy firm in most places, but by 10am it was Awesome! ...and I was shot by noon. NOBODY was there untill 11am..... Conditions looked to be able to hold up for another week as they are open through Memorial Day..... I guess Day 97 will have to do...until next season that is !
6. Oh,...Ok...so the Epic pass is a great value...but no help for SES....right? What do you guys do for the week? buy multi day? What's your average cost just for lift service for the week?
7. I'm planning ahead! Having not been to SES...yet!......is the Epic Pass $659 that works at all Vail Resorts here in CA and CO....Breck, Vail , Beaver Creek, Keystone and A. Basin of any use for SES?
8. Anybody get out to Mammoth this weekend? How were the conditions? I had a great last day (for me) at Alpine Meadows!
9. -------------------SOLD---------------------- In Great shape with standard liner. I cut the power strap off the liner as it was more problematic than effective...IMO Nothing wrong with them at all, very comfortable....usual scuffs and such....I bought them off here 2 or 3 seasons ago from BOL member who was the original owner and hadn't used them except for a couple of times. Only reason I'm selling is that I got Track 700's. $100 + shipping or would trade for latest gen of BTS barryj01@msn.com
10. Pretty impressive technique for Florida!!! Actually I suggest the "serving tray" idea. Think of holding a tray in both hands and imagine there's a cup or glass on the tray.....as you go int a turn you wiill have to tilt the tray to avod the cup or glass sliding off. In your photo you right hand would be more down towards the toe side edge of the board and your left would be out level with your shoulder. Hands infront of you so you always can see them. The smoother/quieter style I want to attain myself is more of reaching towards the board edge or toe of your boot than all the motion that your photo shows.....but if your having fun go with what works!
11. Well don't think I'll get to the magic 100 day season- as Alpine is the only resort left open, but only for 4 more days! It was a beautiful Cali blue ski day for a few turns before it turned to mush by 11am, then did a 25 mile bike ride and then hit the weights at the gym.....and yes, the wife is out of town.
12. Today was day 80 something for me and the last day of the season for Squaw Valley ....but Alpine Meadows is still open 2 more weeks Sat. shared some runs and garnered some advice from BOL member Ladia...it was great to not be the only carver on the Mtn for once!
13. If I am going to buy a Thermo liner is there anything better than thereplacement "Model 141" I should be looking at? Most of the Pro boot fitters out here have the "Intuition" brand liners for $200
14. OK - I got a new pair of Track 700's for a killer deal - but it's the non Thermo model! What Thermo do I need to get, where from and should it be the same size as the liner it came with???? Anybody got any size 26 (new) Thermos for sale??
15. Well, 75 days and STILL counting! We got 4 more weeks left in our season and I'm not missing one minute of it!. I'm blessed with a free seasons pass and being less than a half mile from the largest ski area in N. America, so I can go out for a couple hours whenever I want and not miss work of any consequence. I count my blessings every day!
16. G- Yah beat me to the punch! Yep, here at Squaw were expecting 12 inches below 7000ft and 2-3ft above 7000ft.!!!! I will be in the Lift line with bells on Fri. morn!!!!
17. Thanks Michelle, Thats the directions I followed to start this thread MikeT - with all this input I doubt I'll get a wrong size, but Blue Tomato is over $200 cheaper even with the shipping...so even if I need to send them back I'll still come out ahead. BOL will get my business for BTS Question? - I love my Suzuka Liners with the hard plate tongue - So on a scale of 1 -10, 1 being you noticed no difference in performance and 10 being OMG/Can't believe the difference! HOW much better is Thermoflex over Standard liner?
18. WoW! Thanks for that definitive answer Fin! What's the difference from the 700 and the 700T?
19. OK.....thinking of new boots. I'm looking in the right spot on my Suzukas, it says: 325 29.5 So I'm wearing a 29.5 and looking at the size on the liner it also says 29.5 I did the BOL foot measurement and my 11.2 inch foot X 2.54 = 28.448 mondo I did the shell test on my suzukas and I can get more than two fingers back there...but not quite three. That seems right as I really have to crank down on the arch strap to keep my heels down.....so all this logic says I should go with a size.... 29? or a 28.5? FYI:Half sizes are available from the Blue Tomato) What do you guys say??
20. Looked like a Great Run for Carving - if there is an open invite for next year let us N. Cali guys know...I would of drove down for a wide open run like that!
21. TahoeT....you weren't at Alpine today, were ya? Saw one other guy with plates and orange hardboots on a pow board in the Summit Six backup.
22. Sorry Guys! - Didn't mean to post three shots of the same image! - - it's fixed now - Yeah, it was wild pow and bluebird today! - my legs were shot by noon!
23. April 1st snow storm - No Fooling! Here's a video from March 31, one hour before the lifts closed - http://www.facebook.com/video/video....16147645&saved
24. It Still Ain't Over in Cali!! I got out for the last hour before the lifts quit and there was about a ft. of new, made 5 or 6 runs and tried my sons gopro thing for the first time......it ain't carving but I am in hardboots and plates...here's the footage my son put together - Ha! It snowed 2+ additional ft over night! Should be off tha hook tomorrow! http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=3567616147645&saved
25. I'm in Squaw Valley for the winter and been at Alpine Meadows and Squaw numerous times. Hot Wheels at Alpine is OK at the start but is too busy and flattens out quick and that lift is Slooow! Squaw Creek at Squaw is a little better but gets tight and congested when it funnels into a wide cattrack to the lift. Where are the Big, Wide and Long groomers in N. Cali?
