  1. Wish I could make it - will pass along to the Alpine crew
  2. Be careful of: the drive - its a freakin blizzard the cold - its a freakin freezer out there right now
  3. Sorry to hear Michael - I have always used No Gomers / they are a pain in the ass but no wrist injuries. Unfortunately, wrist guards sometimes sacrifice the thumb. I have had a nagging thumb for a few weeks now. Not sure if the No Gomers are still available, but they offer very good protection.
  4. Skategoat - your wish has already come true - Air Canada just recently emerged from bankruptcy protection.
  5. Want to buy snowboard tuning brace (one of the ones that you can rest the snowboard on top as well as put it on edge) / A shop said they could order them for me for $150. Do I really have to spend that kind of cash for a piece of plastic?
  6. I have made the switch from race plates to TD1 step in - the gear is performing great. I have been riding for about 3 weekends now, including this morning which was perfect hardpack for southern ontario. On the chairlift, I have been noticing what seems to be some movement in my front binding. If I wiggle or shake my foot up and down - it feels like some looseness (up down), but I just can't tell where in the interface the movement is coming from. When I check it in the living room in seems snug. I checked all of the hardware and screws seem tight. It seems if I move the bail backwards, the heel plates won't line up with the heel pegs so I am not really sure where, if anywhere I can tighten up the plate. There is no effect on my riding, I feel locked in and have been bombing it as hard as possible the last few days with no feeling of movement. Is this just a normal feeling for the binding or do I need to go back and recheck the setup?
  7. Available for Sniping - Burton Wind / The liner is worn but otherwise in good condition (buckles, heel/toe, spring lean mechanism). The liner reads 26 / but the inside of the shell actually measures about one cm longer. I have shots of the liner if you want jjfarbs@rogers.com http://cgi.ebay.ca/Burton-Wind-M26-...1QQcmdZViewItem Also have a nice helmet - thought it fit in the store but just a tad to big in retrospect - Large 60 snipe it in two hours http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...82037&rd=1&rd=1
  8. I think my brother in law might have some relics of the past in his closet. He doesn't exactly live the uncluttered life. I think he has a one piece Descent astronaut metal with pink highlite (its so freakin ugly I can't get it out of my memory!). Would fit you perfect. You will be stylin - should I try to hunt it down for you?
  9. Mine aren't free but the exterior is in good shape - liner is basically toast though - but soundin like mine held up alot better than SEJ I have shots of the liner if you want jjfarbs@rogers.com http://cgi.ebay.ca/Burton-Wind-M26-US-Mens-Size-9_W0QQitemZ260057841047QQihZ016QQcategoryZ21249QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Also have a nice helmet - thought it fit in the store but just a tad to big in retrospect - Large 60 snipe it in two hours http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=016&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&viewitem=&item=260057182037&rd=1&rd=1

  11. Due to the lack of interest in the Bomber community, I am auctioning the Burtons on the bay. Stratos Pro sale pending.
  12. Help - I have a seized bolt and while trying to get it out i of course stripped the top of the screw. Bolt is one on the heel TD1 Step In that connects to the base plate. Soaked in grease etc.. still nothing. How do I get the #@$%#$ thing out?
  13. STRATOS TRANSACTION PENDING Just invested in new boots. Have Burton Winds 26 ( colour red / shell buckles cant and lean mechanism all in good shape - liner is marginal) and Head Stratos Pro 26.5 (colour see thru aquamarine very good condition / stock liner - heel moldable / extra heel and toe pad / extra race tongue) to unload. Email or post if interested. Email for pics of Burtons jjfarbs@rogers.com Thinking $80 for the BWs and $150 for the Heads.

Ray - I love your hand me downs! I still have the Burton Winds you sold me about three years ago - Time for new boots.
  15. Enjoy Sleeves - You took me out in the last minute! Nothing wrong with a friendly auction and notifying fellow Bombers is good by me.
  16. I have been keeping on top of this popular post because bending over at the waist was holding me back. Thanks to Pro Craig Shibley and one day on my own working on technique (thinking about all the good tips on this post) I have been able to transfer much of that angle I had at my waist to the board angle at the snow. That in turn actually gets me alot closer to the snow and way more stable. Unfortunately, it has left me with a grin that I can't seem to wipe off my face.
  17. My Bro just returned from 4 days of rain. I hear the valley is emerald rain forest and the summit is 1m deep slush. Interior anyone?
  18. my experience with the same problem and the pro tip that seemed to be most effective is when you feel yourself reaching for the snow think hips and suck your hips back into position and try to maintain the relative hip position through as many transitions as possible
  19. thanks for that info kjl maybe its just that acl is more likely to go pop bionicman is right - physio and activity are the best healers I found my knee was fine and I had good range of motion and strength was ok to ride one year after surgeory. Initially I had substantial atrophy of my quad. An electric muscle stimulator and lots of quarter squats helps to get your muscle firing
  20. Sorry kjl but torn ligaments do not actually heal. A completely torn ligament is toast. Only your neighbourhood surgeon can repair a torn ligament (and for which you will have to donate some other body tissue). A sprained ligament will heal. I tore my acl in a hockey game Sept 02 and had surgeory (hamstring) in Nov 02. I rode in my softies with a full brace for most of 03 but this year have stayed true to my carving deck / except for the pow day when I brought out the two planker. I did a little damage to my meniscus and strained my mcl. I have dropped the full brace this year for boarding in favour of a Tensor bandage which comes with two small flexible metal rods inserted on each side of the knee. This little Tensor is cheap, effective and washable. Your local drugstore will probably have this little wobbly knee helper. Anybody riding with a fresh hamstring acl?
  21. Im with Jack - Look into the carve, just make sure you always take peeks downhill (to choose your line) and uphill to watch for skiers.
  22. Driving to Collingwood, the temperature hit 18C on Friday afternoon. I knew things would be marginal at best with a morning freeze coming up. However, there was no question that my slalom board was the ultimate ice buster. The only guys out carving me on the weekend were the serious ski racers who knew not to use too much pressure on the ice and probably had a fresh tune. Ride the ridge!
  23. Try the GII Made in Canada so it can always be serviced and adjusted easily. REHAB!!!!
