  1. I can only relate my own experience that if my front leg is getting hammered, then either i need to increase the front binding lift (thereby providing more support via the front cuff of the boot) or my bindings are too far back on the board (having to severely weight the front of the board to get the turn initiation I want). Vice-versa, if my rear leg is flaming out, then I'm riding the back of the board, usually trying to compensate for a neutral stance that is too far forward. Orrrrr...I'm just riding the nose of the board compensating for lack of angulation. If I were you, I'd leave the set-up alone until i was confident that, with a neutral stance and getting the board up on edge, either turn initiation wasn't happing fast enough (bindings too far back), or the board was twitchy and initiating a carve well enough, but my boot cuff wasnt providing the support needed.. Some people (myself included) tinker with this off and on until the voice says "just freakin' ride"
  2. +1 for this guy. He fit my stratos pro's like a glove (and I can't imagine that's too easy since I've had an ankle reconstruction and my right foot is all wonky..). It's been ~100 days of riding and they still fit nice and cozy.
  3. I'm gonna guess (somewhat educated guess) is that your experiencing an increase in dopamine. This happens as well with your concerta (or other stimulants, etc). Increase dopamine = increased feelings of well-being, increase in cognition. And while I only get stronger and quicker, for many people, too many beers and the effects of the alcohol (ie: intoxication) don't do much for reaction time, muscle control, cognition.

oooo... great board! that'd do ya' fine..
  5. Chubz: This program is all the rage up here with the high school athlete's. With my age hittin' 43 this year, I may need to pick this program up. I currently do 20 min. box jump sets, get-ups, and a few other misc. core exercises. Those get-ups, i feel, really strengthen the inside/outside ligaments around the knee's and obiliques. Upper body stuff as well..but, as all I want to do is carve, then it's 2/3 lower/core, 1/3 upper (focus prim. on shoulders.). Are you going to hang on to the cd's?
  6. ...it's an article written for an audience that knows jack **** about alpine, so of course it's gonna be a bit thin on the details. Want details? Give Bola a call--i'm sure he'd provide whatever you're looking for. BTW, the carving crew in CO have several ambassador's to this sport. Bola, and others, are inspirational in their passion, insight and generosity towards helping others maximize their enjoyment of our sport.
  7. That'd be a done deal! Thanks IceCoast.
  8. 7wt st croix, 5x flouro. Caught on Elk Creek in NW pa just south of Erie on a olive/white clouser. I'm hoping to get out on lake erie when it freezes enough so that I can ice fish for walleye. shoot, i'd trade you a trip! I've never been up that way before.
  9. Hey ya Angie! Good to hear from you. Funny you should mention heading out that way.. i was just thinking this am that a 3 day weekend might have to happen soon. You riding a new board? I thought I saw that you posted your donek. Due north of Washington by ~45 min. Intersection of 79 and 80.
  10. Icecoast: yep, i'm interested. can you fire off some pics? If they're at least a 8/10 wear/tear and fully functional/not bent, then you've got a deal. thanks for the post, rmoyers@zoominternet.net
  11. That'd be western pa. between pitt and erie
  12. Nice run! Great lines.. it looks like you were having a bit of fun on that.
  13. reportedly, this buck was spooked by a guy checking his traps by a local walmart. It ran across the road and was hit.
  14. +1 on above.. boots, 1st bindings 2nd, then a used board. Or, get your boots and bindings and head to one of the expression sessions to demo boards. I'd hold off on getting a new board until you've demo'd a bunch of them. Even then, I'd find one used. You can always turn it over for a diff. one.
  15. Lookin' for the short plates.
  16. if for some reason the deal falls through for the bindings, I'd take 'em.
  17. ohhh I don't know. That pic is far more descriptive of the impact, I think. Let's see.. My third (and incidently, my last) time out this year was/is turning out to be a real bummer. I was thinking that, having ridden my Coiler SLC well enough, it was time to pull out the Virus WCR. 4 runs into it, starting to entertain the idea of laying down a few hard carves around the shadows of the chairs, I dive into it hard, toeside. Dang if that board didnt take a much tighter line than the rest of my body was prepared for, and, *pop*.. some muscle lets go in my back causing total loss of strength on my rear leg. That was Dec. 23rd... and the bastard is STILL buggin' me like it happened last week. I'm hoping it's not a disc... incidently, when I first picked up the board, the same thing happened, but I pulled a muscle in my neck.
  18. Great feeling, isn't it:1luvu: Once you're addicted, you'll find your way well enough. Enjoy the ride...
  19. I'm going to post only because I deal with this every first few times of the season and have understood, to fix my lines, I need to remember to transition my weight towards my back leg while keeping angulation in place. "feeding the board" 'bout fixes it for me... although, at some point I realized that my rear binding angle was a bit low and the resulting boot toe/heel snow contact blew out the edge enough to cause the rear to skid .
  20. If anyone would like to part with their cateks (short plate) due to any concern, please let me know. I'd be happy to take them off your hands! (I'd also really enjoy having a Gladiator or coiler AM)
  21. Hmmmm. Does it come with a box of band-aids in case that one falls off?
  22. I'm surprised that some people don't think mountain lions can co-exist with populated areas (eg: ny, nj, pa). Numerous reports of mountain lions snacking on pets, burying deer in woodlots, eating the last kid in line on a hike. Why not on the east coast??
