  1. The picture looks super Bryan. Was it off the 205 bridge ? I need to call you soon and talk splitboards. Heading up to welchs tonight at 7pm. Jim
  2. Looks a little foggy yet today. I will check tomorrow if the conditions are better to ride. I will be in Welchs at the "cabin" if anyone wants to go for drinks or food tonight . 5039977863 Jim
  3. Still great snow up high yet. Used the modded k2 approach skiis with raceplates to asend to just below crater rock and boarded down to illumination rock. Peaked over the other side and checked out the top of the sandy glacier. Did and nice long run down the zigzag glacier to hit the bottom of palmer lift. Jim
  4. I think it actually sounds even worse than mine when I am back visiting. Jim
  5. There is still pretty good snow up there yet and plan on riding a day this coming weekend for the carve fest #2. Yes the pancakes were good last time too. Nice to see some Wisconsin people out here, grew up in Marshfield and went to UW-Madison. Jim
  6. Climbed MtHood last friday using approach skiis, crampons, and carried the Tanker. Saw 2 other people on split-boards and really liked the setups. Using skins on approach skiis or a splitboard is so much easier than anything I have used before. I will be seriously looking for a splitboard over the summer . Only if Radair would make a Tanker version. The snow on zigzag glacier was awsome yet because of new stuff from earlier in the week really smoothing things out. I may try again next week on my day off . You really could have snowboarded from the summit pretty easily because it was nice and soft with not one track and every was going around the pearly gates. I chickened out and rode down from the hogsback, oh well next time. Never saw Galen but noticed some carve marks on the mile. Jim
  7. Galen, Me and Eric are coming up tomorrow also and plan to summit MtHood. We are leaving at 4am . Maybe we will see you on the way back. Call me on frs radio 5-12 if you can tomorrow or cell 503-997-7863. Jim
  8. Yea, tomorrow should be nice Eric. It was snowing hard at the lodge and the mile and palmer were closed so I hiked it up to the mile for some exercise. I rode down on the west side of the mile and it was pretty good pow from the 1/2 way mark. The upper part was windblown in waves. I bet it settled nice and smooth over in the trough of zig-zag. If you head up tomorrow take some pics to show me. Jim
  9. Looks like they will get a couple of inches of snow with clearing by the morning . If the mile and palmer open I will be riding. I will carry radio and cell. This should make zigzag super sweet this week . JIm
  10. Had another great day today. I saw Shaun White in the lodge while getting my ticket. Rode 2 hours of good groomers on palmer. They started to groom more lanes up high as the Mile is really melting fast from last week. They are ready for summer with the midway station on palmer ready. Rode a few runs with Ed's wife Libby. Sorry you had to work Ed The best part was the end of day climb above palmer and traverse to illumination rock. All I can say is that place is the ****z . It is so huge up there and was so smooth today its unreal. This is the place to ride when you come to T-line. Next time I climbing to top up by the crater. Nature grooms way better than any diesel cat. Only if I didnt have to come back so early to get the kids from school..... Jim
  11. Heading up wednesday if anyones interested . May bring some gear for the above palmer action..... Jim
  12. Nice day today with Ed, Randy and Eric . It was pretty firm in the morning and slowly softened due to high haze. Hiked above the palmer at noon and did one nice run in the zigzag/illumination rock area. Jim
  13. I think they are waiting for the snow to melt yet ? This will definately improve t-line's winter riding terrian . Jim
  14. I will be at the huckleberry at 730am on friday for pancakes. Otherwise just meet up at the hill as they open at 8am . Jim
  15. Fathers day is sunday June 17th . Sean from snowperformance is having a "carve clinic" the 15-17th also
  16. I think we are meeting for May 11-13 but the June dates are not set yet . How about fathers day in June? We had a nice showing last year. Jim
  17. Does the sflex system only bolt up to F2 boards or will the work on any 4x4 deck. Sorry if this has been asked already . Price ? Jim
  18. The pic was from the top of palmer just off the chair looking down the public lanes . Bryan's favorite area is out bounds to the west over in zig-zag / sandy headwall. Here is a pic after hiking 20min higher in that area with some nice lines down from crater rock. (not mine). Enjoy . Jim
  19. I am planning on sunday. Do you still use frs 5-12 ? Jim
  20. lots more pics too many to post
  21. Super nice carving day. I was the only harbooter on the mountain. Had lots of people commenting on my monoboard thingy... The palmer liftie was totally stoked on trying the hardboots. Sandy headwall looked awesome but by time I got there at 11am there was a wicked crust on the top 2" with 6" soft underneath. Usaully I am pretty good at dealing with weird snow but the alpine deck just wouldnt turn without getting caught under the crust. It looks like those who rode sunday had some super powder!!!! However its looks to be setting up for some super smooth conditions soon over in the Sandy headwall area:biggthump Enjoy Jim
