  1. Another 14 inchs new in the last 24hrs with cold snow levels for a week. Jim
  2. We should go in together and get prior or donek to make us each a copy of the 192. Yes thought about splitting one too but havent gotten the guts yet but have a well used one ready.
  3. I have a old Sims premium 167 and Mistral 173 that i could loan/donate. Jim
  4. Yes I really do need a split but like big boards and no one makes anything bigger than a 172... I want a tanker 192 split and might have to get something custom made or split my own. The approach skiis work great for PNW snow but would sink like lead in central BC fluff. I have been doing a yearly trip to MPA cat lodge in Cherryville near you. What split do ride? Prior ? Size? BTW Tline/ MtHood is getting new snow again this week 4-8" tonight and 4-8" tomorrow. Looking good for next tuesday or wednesday nexy week again ? Jim
  5. Thanks Bryan , They were 110cm. I might end up buying a split now.
  6. Yes Eric I might be asking you for a loaner:). I really need to get a split soon... Jim
  7. Lost a ski to the mountain. Anyone have extras? Thought I would try... Jim
  8. More pics of dont fall in that, what stinks and who is that ant up there, Buell picking himself down the steeps. It was fun ... and now I need some more K2 approach skiis... Jim
  9. more pics of the true summit, Buell's happy dance, dam this is steep and icy.
  10. Thanks Buell for keeping me motivated to go up as I probably would have passed on my own. It ended up a really nice day except for losing one of my approach skiis to the devils kitchen! The snow on zigzag glacier is primo right now once its warms up. It is at that magic stage where it is smooth and just like butter. Any pdx locals should seriously check it out soon... (more snow this week again). here are more pics ....of Buell on the hogsback, putting crampons on, climbing through the gap.
  11. I am still in for Monday if anyone wants to still go. I will be doing a tour/climb of Hood on tuesday also with a coworker if anyone wants to join. The weather is mostly below tline so it will be likely clear up top. Jim
  12. 6" new today at Tline with lower snow levels this week. Looking good for M-day!
  13. You are welcome to ride with me if you want to come up and hang out. Jim
  14. Nice Galen and that only the magic mile not the palmer up top . My coworker Eric said he saw there today. He rode this morning and came to work at 2pm till midnight. I plan to ride next week tues and wed but windsurfing this weekend. Jim
  15. Looks like Timberline got 5 inches new snow today so one last cold storm moving east . JIM
  16. Hey it looks like I have memorial day off too....5-26 right. Lets all get together for riding and beers - cookout after? Jim Tour or ride again 5-13 ? Anyone ...
  17. Now that my MHM pass is over except for weekends went up to Timberline this last monday for some recon on the palmer snowfield. Didnt buy a ticket but used approach skiis for a possible summit trip. The palmer and magic mile looked great with tons of snow for this time of year. The palmer has hardly been groomed yet with only a lane or two buffed out but looked nice and smooth for the early birds. Ended up summiting Mt Hood and rode a Tanker down from the summit at 2pm in some nicely softened snow. Headed towards the top of illumination rock and followed the zig-zag down to the cut back towards the top of the mile. Someone is setting up the largest snow camp I have ever seen at the base of illumination rock with 15-20 people building a igloo city:confused: Anyways it is a fine time to make that trip to T-line for some late season riding..... JIm
  18. Sounds like we need to have some carving sessions at Tline now that MHM is closed. Its always fun to lay some sweet lines down the middle of the park with all that good grooming gone to waste!!! Thank god there are no parks on the palmer. How about mon or tues next week? Also would to get a informal SES going for any days 5-16 to 5-22... Jim
  19. Thanks for help. I guess I looking for more of an all-around type board that can used anywhere like a atv or axis or 4x4. Not sure if I am ready for doing a zoo ride yet . Yes Dan I can use a kicktail and even ollie a little. I grew up street skating in college and built a large wood 1/2 pipe on the farm I grew up in Wisconsin. ! 10 years ago I used skate Bside with another old school cooworker and learned to pump and ride bowls , nice long grinds, and rock n rolls. Never learned any flippy tricks like the kids now. Thanks Gecko as I can tell you do some serious downhill stuff. Might slowly work myself into that ... The boards I am used to were like 31 x 10.5 ? I guess they dont make them that way anymore ... Jim
  20. Hey All, I am a old-school skater from the 80's and old-school carver too! I still have one of my old park/pipe boards but I am thinking of getting into a longboard. I might do a little commuting to work on this and/or whatever turning I can learn. I used to skate in Portland at the burnside park under the bridge but might try Mt Tabor longboarding and screwing around with my daughters who like my old deck. I guess someone told me that I am in the "dads in pads" group now:o Anyways a coworker showed my this local built board.... http://www.eastsidelongboards.com/SK.html Any comments helpful. Jim
  21. Yes I can pick the board up for you. Email me his number and address. I will probably get down there Thrusday night late .... Jim
  22. Hi All, I am coming down to bend/sunriver for a Pharmacy CE meeting over the weekend and plan to ride Mt Bachelor on friday. Looks like its still winter in Bend like it is on Mt Hood. Anyways looking for riding partners on friday and will be with another Rph-carver from pdx (Eric P). Also looking for anyone who wants to do drinks/food on friday and saturday nights in Bend . Jim
  23. Wish I could have made it Byran but had child care duties last night. If you still have beer left I wil gladly help you drink it tonight. Jim
  24. Here the report for today.... Its was super windy at MHM with 55mph gusts and it was cold. Nice 8" of new powder fell but was pushed around in the wind over bullet ice . It was really warm a few days ago and everything melted and now is refrozen quite hard. There were some good stashes of pow on the right aspects enhanced by the wind but you could feel the hard stuff below. Rode Hood river express today mostly to stay out of the wind! Tomorrow will be much better and I forgot I traded a shift with a friend and will ride MHM in the am . 4" new today will more on the way and sun in the am . If they open cascade it will be sweet. I will give you a call in the am on the way... Jim
