  1. Steve, I think I met you briefly a couple three years ago at Silver. You were very kind to me when you saw my gear LOL. Maybe run into you again if I can make it out there. Best Wishes
  2. Thanks for the gr8 vid clip, gave me a big smile too. Glad I'm not the only one sporting grossly mismatched pants & jacket LOL.
  3. Yes, I think that's exactly where I'm at but more like still in the first year of re-learning how I approach snowboarding. I have no doubt that a few years down the road I'll be looking at newer gear and at that point I'll be able to appreciate these differences in performance. For now I'm still having fun and I'm just stoked that I can get out and ride the gear I've got in the first place.
  4. I can't remember correctly but in general doesn't a 'towards the nose' offset, lengthening the tail causing the tail to hold its edge longer but may take more effort for the ride to initiate the next turn? May be a good set up for an older alpine board that wants to wash out at the end of a carve.
  5. The tri cities Pasco schools had been fund raising with Bluewood 2 for 1 cards good for all year $10 excludes holidays. I'll probably be out there a handful of times, just most convenient and affordable for me. Maybe post when you guys will be there in case plans match up.
  6. You guys are the reason I got back onto a snowboard after 9 years, fully inspired me to come back in with alpine. I have one of those boards John says to hang on a wall, but $250 was my budget to start from scratch with everything (board, boots, bindings, outer wear). Right now I'm lucky to make it out 8 days a year, but when I'm riding I look back and see clean trenches, no washing out, and even more important having lots of fun. I'd rather spend the $250 on lift tickets and gas. Why should I hang this new (old-stock) board that's the only reason I'm even able to be out riding right now and plop $250 on a "thrashed etc etc." when this one carves great for me. Best way to promote the sport to newbies is encouraging/teaching to ride their best on the most they can afford right now. No need to diss down their gear. When they're ready to buy upgrades they'll ask questions, "What should I get on this budget?". No need to proselytize to burn their gear and break the bank, it just comes off as sounding elitist. All my thanks to you guys here at Bomberonline community forums for getting me back out on the slopes. Cheers
  7. Pics of Bomber Skiboard bindings, disc plates, leashes as requested: (I have o.e. hardware as well)
  8. Thanks guys, really appreciate the advise ad concern. If you were to draw a rectangle 21cm X 7cm, thats how far a binding plate would have to reach to use the insert pattern on this board (huge). I will have to install inserts myself regardless. As for the bindings I dont see enough advantage of the TD2s over these to warrant taking the time and more money at this point to change up unless someone has a straight trade offer. Same bails, toe clips, plate material as the TD2s but without the adjustability (doesn't appy to me much since I have to install inserts regardless). Inserts: Flat flange metric T-nuts with lock teeth Upright drill press Forschner bit and shaft bit grub screws and ski epoxy sintered base plugs Full tune I've always drilled my own boards back in the day and never experienced pull out even when riding hard. Since I can't ride that hard anymore, I'm not too worried. I'll still entertain ideas but I hate to make you guys fret over this stubborn old bastard:rolleyes: Thanks!
  9. I'd like to know how to search and bid on the Euro Bay. Lots of Alpine equip. http://sport.listings.ebay.at/Boots_Hardboots_W0QQfclZ3QQfromZR11QQsacatZ59760QQsocmdZListingItemList
  10. I understand about no angle adjustment, but I'll be having to install my own inserts with base plugs anyway so I'll be pretty much stuck at the angles I mount them at. Bruce Varsava has an article here saying if you're straight legged (not bowed) you can get away with no canting. http://www.yyzcanuck.com/E_tech_article04.htm I understand this is all a pain in the ass, but I have to work with what I've got at this point. Thanks much for the offers and advice.:D
  11. I watched the classifieds here for quite a while. You guys snap stuff up like within the hour of posting so I started looking elsewhere. Besides, I'll be lucky to be on a lift more than 3 days a year right now. I can always do better with equipment in the future when my lifestyle warrants it. In the meantime I really do appreciate the info you guys have here, it really got me pumped to snowboard again. Cheers.
  12. No sh#@ Thanks:smashfrea They've got 6.35mm bails and all aluminum construct, if I had the old cant discs and bumpers they'd be TD1s basically. Not whining, its just a pain in the ass finding decent used alpine equip that's reasonable $ for me. I'll probably just ride 'em flat with an 18" stance & adjust my boots. If it seems I need cant I'll hunt down the right parts.
  13. Would the Kennewick, WA REI ba able to hook me up just as well?
  14. Have a pair of used Bomber Elite Skiboard bindings and was wanting to use them on an oldschool alpine board. Construction is basically like the old TD1s, narrowed for skiboards. They mount to a center 4X4 disc and have front & rear dampening blocks (can these be shimmed for lift?). Unable to have any cant unless I can get old TD1 cant disks I suppose. Any ideas would be great, thanks!
  15. From article: http://www.onthesnow.com/drupal/news/state/NM/454/news/2007/jan/27/taos-stays-snowboard-free-but-out-to-launch “Skiers come here because we don’t have snowboarding,” says Marketing Director Adrianna Blake, “but we still have jibber terrain.” Note this anonymous comment: by Anonymous | November 21st, 2007 05:10 PM "Last spring break my family went to Angel Fire. My children were 8 and 6 and had never been skiing. I wanted them to learn to ski first since my husband and I do not snowboard, we wanted to be able to help them. After a day of lessons they were ready to hit the slopes. Unfortunately, hit them, my son did, with the help of a snowboarder!!!!! Taos being snowboard free is the reason we choose to ski there after Christmas this year! Thank you Taos, let the boarders go where they want...we need a safe place!" Taos promotes the same aggressive techniques that snowboarders pioneered. If it was just the snowboarding they were banning and not the people would they still cater to their skiers with terrain parks and half pipes? Note the anonymous comment above. I remember in late 80s and early 90s watching skiers collide frequently with a polite outcome, however if a snowboarder was involved all hell broke loose on part of the skier and their party, complaints are made, etc. Perhaps Taos would allow snowboarders a special pass after a rigorous background check, socioeconomic profile, their age was over 35 and have at least 2 children thus proving their family friendly nature. Taos outright says that their skiers come there because there are no snowboarders. Its pretty nice riding at Angelfire, NM., Santa Fe, Red River as it seems all those kind of skiers are over on Taos and they can stay there.
  16. Got ya beat as ugliest? http://aberdeen.gumtree.com/aberdeen/91/16067191.html
  17. From AlpineCarving.com : "Older Burton boots do not have a removable heel, and therefore do not accept step-in heels. However, their one-piece design makes them extra stiff, which is why they are favored by some racers, like Chris Klug. Two of these boots are recommended:" Burton Reactor, 4-buckle + strap Burton Furnace, 4-buckle + strap I am interested but also concerned with stiffness as I am do just light recreational boarding. They look to be in great shape though.
  18. Ah, thanks guys. I should have been more patient. I did get a hold of some Bomber Elites which should be similar to oldschool, but tough. Not sure how or if I'll cant them, but we'll see.
  19. I almost impulse bid on this but the 3D bindings look to have issues. Would they even fit a Mondo 25.5 anyway? http://cgi.ebay.com/BURTON-PJ-156cm-Race-Board-with-Bindings-Ride-Now_W0QQitemZ110193641753QQihZ001QQcategoryZ36297QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  20. Any oldschool plate bindings. Old Emery, Cattraps, rattraps etc. I wear size 8 mens so I have no angle issues on an old carving board. Thanks
  21. The bidding on those have ended. mybad :o
