  1. Looking for a BX board (160-170cm total length) in decent condition. Tell me what you have and the price. Thanks!
  2. Beautiful boards. Need to sell or willing to trade for a BX board in decent shape (must have a rounded tail). These were my race boards in the 2003 and 2007 Deaflympics. I'm only 5'5" and lightweight (Very light! Just ask Will Garrow!) and so these babies still have a lot of camber and pop in them. Edges are race sharp, no rust. Bases are perfect and were waxed for storage last spring (I haven't ridden them since last year) and that's what you see in the pics. Topsheets have the usual minor kinks, stickers, and wear & tear but nothing that affects the ride. For the 159, I'm asking $200 OBO plus shipping. For the 184, I'm asking $250 OBO plus shipping. I will meticulously box these for shipping (I sold a board on here years ago and packed it beautifully!). I'll have to wait until Jan 18 to determine shipping costs. And just so you all know, your purchase or trade will benefit my upcoming races in the Deaflympics. See my "Slovakia?" post. Replies here or PM's accepted or e-mail at utahdeafcarver at hotmail dot com. See pics here and in next reply to this thread (apparently, we can only post 3 pics at a time). Thanks!
  3. Missed who it was, but one of the women took out a course worker! Ouch!
  4. Turn on VS right now! PGS from Telluride is on. (Sat, 1/15, 8p.m. MST).
  5. Thanks Koldo and Martin! Koldo, based on the training schedule, I believe the entire mountain will be taken over for the Deaflympics! There are numerous teams vying for hill space for ski and snowboard gate training and the competitions. Will be a lot of fun. Martin, could it be a Japanese Zero with a kamikaze mindset?! Actually, you'd all be amazed by the friendships we develop at the Deaflympics. Deaf people share a common experience that includes language barriers in communicating with "hearing" people (yes, that's our label for non-deaf people!), ridiculous discrimination, and all forms of oppression. Truth is, deaf people can do everything hearing people can do, just need to communicate in a different way. Deaf people from different countries don't share the same language (sign language is NOT universal). However, because of our shared experiences and our skills signing and gesturing in a visual language, we are able to communicate more easily than two monolingual hearing people speaking two different languages. I've become good friends with the Japanese racers and looking forward to seeing them again!
  6. Any BOL'ers on this forum ever ride at Strbske Pleso, Slovakia? That's the site of the 2011 Winter Deaflympics (www.2011deaflympics.org). Just curious what you think of the mountain? I will be competing in PGS and BX. The Austrians and Italians have some good riders, but the Japanese have one of the best in PGS. I haven't beaten their top rider in the past eight years!
  7. Don, thanks for your quick reply. For those of you here that are interested in the same question I asked, Don is not authorized to provide coach certification. Bummer! But ah well, we should all get together when he's here.
  8. I sent him a message. I'm in need of getting my USASA coach certification. See if he can offer that. (PCMR had a clinic last year but I couldn't make it; nothing offered this year, so far.) Thanks for this post, Buell. ;)
  9. I was there. Bumped into a carver named Kevin, from Hooper, Utah. Was hoping to take a few runs with him, but he was switching over to skis at the end of that run. It was a beautiful day! I won't be there tomorrow (Saturday) afterall. My son has his first Jr Jazz game and then I'm meeting some friends for a farewell party. See you Sunday for sure! In the meantime, check if you have a texting plan on your phone and figure it out. Texting will be the easiest way to meet up.

    Snowbasin

I'm at 'basin every Friday-Sunday (usually!). If anyone's planning to ride there, post a note here. Looking for someone to take turns videoing us making turns! I'll bring the camera, you bring yourself willing and able!
  11. I should have mentioned: I have access to a good quality digital camera and can make videos! I need some video of myself but of course, the more, the merrier! Who's in?
  12. I ride at Snowbasin every week, usually Fridays-Sundays. I occasionally see another hardbooter but only rarely in the same vicinity to meet. If any of you would like to meet up at 'basin, let's start using the Ride Board on this forum to plan.
  13. Nice vid, Will! My wife watched it and said to me "he looks like you!" To which I replied, "no, I look like him." Important to get that straight. Haha!
  14. Hey guys! The last day at Snowbasin was last Sunday, April 19. It was a beautiful day. What's amazing is that this last day was the first time I ever saw two hardbooters there (other than me) on the same day! I met a doctor (KC) and his wife. KC was on a Prior WCR Metal (same as me!). KC, if you find this post, I believe I gave you the wrong phone number to text me at. I mixed up two numbers. E-mail me instead at utahdeafcarver@hotmail.com and we'll hook up and ride next year. Kirk, ATC.BURT, Lovett, Buell, Skully, I should have a season pass again next year, so let's set up some dates to meet up. I usually go every weekend. :biggthumpSundays are best for me, however, as I ride with my wife and kids on Saturdays. Yes Kirk, I'm still racing! Will be going to Slovakia in 2011 to compete in my last Deaflympics (against all the top Deaf racers!). Enjoy the summer (or miss the winter; whichever you prefer!).
  15. Hey all, Nice to meet several of you at SES. Just wondering why ya'll picked The Canyons for Friday when there's a USASA GS/SL at PC that day? Would be nice to have you all come out and race, just for the fun of it--even if you're not a racer. Hope to see some of you there!

    Snowbasin

Hey, I've met only a couple hardbooters at Snowbasin this season. Guy on an F2 on Saturday, Jan 17. You on this BoL board? Who else is out here?
  17. I had this same problem happen just recently. Although I have new boots now, I'm not ready to throw out my Burton Fires. Fin, you made replacement skid pads for Deeluxe, could you do the same for Burton?
  18. I am the original owner and have a complete Burton Physics setup, bindings and heels, used one season (hmm, I'd say it was about 2002 or so). I'm a lightweight rider (135 lbs SOAKING WET!) and those bindings should be in mint condition. The only catch is that I have to go to my storage unit and gather it. I'd be willing to sell...
  19. And what about season pass holders? Some years, the resorts open early November; other years, they don't open until early December. But to get the best deal on a pass, you gotta buy before October. Would be nice to be able to predict the weather that far in advance! Nah, I'm not ranting. If you wanna play, you gotta pay!
  20. I've been riding hardboots for 10 years now and as my login in name states, I am deaf. I've never heard all those oohs and aaahs some of you speak of. However, my friends who can hear (and now my kids) will often tell me the comments they hear. My kids even think I'm a huge show off, but I have to explain that there's really only one way to ride an alpine board and it's not skidding! Can I help it that my equipment is designed to be ridden that way and that there's rarely any other hardbooter on the mountain? Snowbasin, Utah is my home mountain now; it's disappointing how few hardbooters there are in Utah. But when I do see another hardbooter, it's always good to meet them!
  21. Lee, I was at hardbooter a couple weeks ago picking up some new boots, didn't see any Madd boards (and there are none posted on the hardbooter.com website. But hopefully Dave or Billy will see your post and get back in touch with you.
  22. I haven't tried it, but I saw a recommendation to use a little foamy shaving cream (not the gel kind) on each side of your glasses and on the inside of the goggles. Just get a little on your hand, rub it all over, then wipe it clear. Let us know if it works.
  23. Snowbird will close this upcoming weekend, May 18-20.
  24. Justin, I am deaf yes, but I don't have an I-Pod. I have a specific pair of boots with a removable toe piece (read the product warning "sticky" thread that Fin posted). The "law is pretty clear" part seems to apply here. Hey, no one feel sorry... I consider my deafness part of my identity and although I could hear when younger, I don't miss it. And no, I did not become deaf by listening to loud music. :D
