  1. So go easy on the throttle. I was sorry to see them tossed out of AMA. A true thoroughbreed with an amazing power to weight ratio. You definately spend some time living on the highside with those bikes. The new 600's are pushing some prettty impressive numbers and are much easier to gather up when you lose it. However a diesal is a diesal.
  2. Out by us the sport is just catching on so there are very few rules impossed on it. They will generally apply rules of navigation to any situation on the water. So far as the beach itself there may be some "Launching" areas that may endanger swimming areas. Then you have to stay a minimum footage off shore. Keep the safty of the others as a priority first and there is never really anything said. abut what you are doing. A great learning vacation would be one of the kite camps in La Ventana, Mexico (Baja) or Solo Sports (Pacific side).
  3. Just curious but I'm in the market for full face and was wondering if the full face with the rigid chin guard would be a neck snapper. I've noticed that some of the ski/slalom/whatever are using a flexible front chin to redirect the force of the blow and absorb some of the impact without to much of a rebound affect (like a badly tuned motorcycle shock that just bounces you off the seat). Any input on this?
  4. Is the Burner still available? I'll pay cash or trade a Volkl RT178 in excellent condition.
  5. There was alot of info on all the different types of boots that helped me understand more of the general workings of boots, thanks.
  6. Anyone have any info on the canting adjustment on these boots? Tips or tales would help, thanks.
  7. For what it's worth, i'll be there during the week. Sometimes I like the weekends most cuz it's more of a chance to meet with other carvers
  8. Two snowboards. Thanks, my day started with a smile

Thanks, should work out leaving for Mammoth next Sunday but I won't stress about it if it's not here by then. Gavin
  10. Check out Snow Performance
  11. We always watched but never really saw, did Point Lookout ever really break? I remeber a few times surfing in the actual Jones Beach inlet when it was huge. It's funny, surfing, carving, motorcycle roadracing etc. etc., same sort of thing just using a different medium to achieve the same fix.

Check is in the mail. I have your address from the previous dilemma. Gavin
  13. I never go up to far past Jalama (n. of Santa Barbara), I always go south to San Diego and I hate Mexico for the first couple hundred miles. We used to surf the Naragansett contest in the winter some eccentric but real nice guy (Peter Pan?) would host. The carving has been an excellent alternative. You don't have to paddle back out, more than one person to a wave is o.k., they don't trash your car in the street and rarely do they beat you up for not living there. I've always had a quiver of boards and even with skiing I used three different types. I won't bum out to much when the carving season closes cuz of the kite boarding. Cheap flight with just a boost
  14. I actually did more surfing back east then what I do out here now. In NY you travel more to find waves but the road time is not as traffic oriented as out here. Tha LA South Bay is the home of the close out wave. PV is good but violent so I mostly surf El Porto beach break or go down to Encinitas where the attitude is a bit more forgiving. I had a Surf shop back in Amityville for a few years (called Surfboard Revolution then changed to Freespirit). Left for the Islands in '78 came back for a couple of years later and at my LA stop over decided I just couldn't survive back east. I won't get into the east vs west quality stuff but those LI days saw some great quality surf over the years I just can't deal with the "slurpee headache syndrome" or using a pair of paddle hands to get the key into the door lock. Do you guys still hang at the Monroe (or LIncoln?) laundrymat heating up your wetsuits between sessions?

Hey Greg, ya still interested in dealing with me? Tyler showed me some info as to comparison and what the hell the price is good so if it don't work I'll just have a boot quiver. Thankyou, Gavin

I was basing an answer according to Bomber's ad description on their site. They lead me to believe that the Susuka was more like a ????? , the Lemans was the old 423 (which I currently run), the Indy which I bought but was to stiff for me to get heelside angulation (was that the AF700 type?). So I wanted the old AF600 equivalent which would that be?
  18. Long beach/Rockaway? What street?
  19. That was great! I grew up in Long Island (West End II local) could you tell me the location of those shots? Was it in the Hampton area? Does Three's still break (the old shinecock inlet)? I don't miss the old Dri-Duck days but I do miss those beautiful beaches and doing a surf check from Jones Beach to Montauak back to Rockaway in a single day. It takes me just as long to get to Huntington Beach sometimes.
  20. Your right and 100% politically correct. Thinking back on what you said it seems to me that alot of humor presented is based upon the misfortunes of others (ex. 3-stooges, Daffy Duck, Al & Peg Bundy, Wiley Coyote, Charlie brown kicking the football) or the morally questionable situations of others. I guess not all people find some of those situations funny. You should have the ability to laugh at your self, I believe it takes a more humble and tolerant type of personality to be like this but yeah that doesn't mean it's alright to laugh at others. What makes you a better person is to not be offended when people are laughing at you. If one thing in the world could be changed I would wish it to be people's attitudes. Anyway this is a snowboard thread and I took it way off topic so to get back to the snowboard world I would like to close with...some of my best friends are "softbooters".
  21. Not being a very intelligent person (only a high school education) I only saw the face value humor and thought it was hysterical. I should have thought about the true underlying meaning of that ad. I can understand the offense taken by the gay community. Being only 5'6" tall I sometimes become incensed at the use of the word "short" . Like "short" on time or "I'll have to short pay you". Words are so offensive at times. A couple of gay people I showed this to thought it was funny but not appropriate for public consumption. I agree but I'm still chuckling at the add. Man the times have changed, when I was a kid being "gay" meant you were happy. Hey gotta go now it's early and I have a lot of people to piss off.
  22. Just thought I'd post. I'll be there if anyone is interested in hooking up. Bringing a full quiver if you want to try something. Thought I might also check out June Mtn.
