  1. Get back down here and start your damn summer already! If your in Redondo let's try some of my new toys (surf, dirtsurf, carve board, skimbat) and then recoup in the jacuzzi.
  2. It was a total blast! Torn rotator cuff in the shoulder, chipped tooth, and a colored hip and butt cheek that will match my bitchen Snow Performance black hat. I think I got my moneys worth. I know it won't show on the DVD but what I've learned from from that hellfest will save me years of reconstructive surgery. I can't recommend this camp enough, it is a must. The other carvers were fantastic, with me not being a real social type these people went out of their way to make everyone feel welcome. Thanyou Gavin, Sean, Mark, Mike. I'll be there for Sunpeaks. And to Gary, I was not euro carving I was recovering (like Valentino Rossi-qualifying in the wet). Thanks again, Gavin
  3. To involve yourself in a sport of such magnitude is telling of your inner strength that can be used to heal yourself from this set back. Recovery sometimes creates reflection (good or bad) so it's important to keep the passion burning. My thoughts go out to you on this first days journey. Gavin

Check out "roadracingworld.com" for a good source on all the sport bike info. I don't know how to post a link to it but's alsoa right to the point type of journalism with no BS.
  5. If anyone needs a ride out of the LA area let me know as I'm traveling solo.
  6. I mean Dirtsurfer. Just got me a Dirtsurfer Flexi-pro on the way and was wondering........has anybody has tried a Kitewing with it. I'm wondering if any body has contact info for this item. Like the way I got everyones attention? I was going to title it "SEX" but that's way old, besides I'm married.
  7. for the place we are staying at? Can we check in Thursday eve? I'm already packed so just point me in the right direction.
  8. I live in The LA area and ride a fixed gear (appx 89" or 53x16) track frame w/front brake. The hills (Palos Verdes) are were I mostly ride. Grades over 6-8% become a challange (especially if it's windy) but one advantage is the weight of wheel rotation that helps conserve energy (optimum situation). I ride with catagorized cyclists on their training rides. The one area I suffer greatly is the longer faster types of descents. You start going anerobic while others are recovering (coasting on 53x12). I love the purity and simplicity of the fixed gear. I used to race track so it is easier to adapt to road use for me. To me the fixed gear is like a car's manual tranny compared to an automatic. The thrill is in the art of driving not the comfort. Gavin
  9. I e-mailed you about the dirtsurfer (in case my e-mail went wacky). Thanks, Gavin
  10. Would you guys have some info as to a contact for the L.A. area? Are any of you ever going to consider trying the Kitewing with it?
  11. For carving it 's great but off piste is divine/disaster at very specific times of the day. Snow is more consistant the higher you go.
  12. Hey Nekdut, yeah I'm Gavin. I remeber meeting you once at the Little Eagle parking lot. I'm looking forward in trying to follow Mark Harris. He was great to work with. I did the camp in 03 at Sun Peaks as an entry into carving and it was a tremendous help. It will be interesting to see how much improvement I've made since then.
  13. Put on by Snow Performance, anyone going? I'm leaving out of L,A. (Redondo Beach) if anyone needs a ride.
  14. Any direction on prepping a couple of new Coilers? PRC184/19 waist and an AM172/21.5 waist. Are they set up as suggested and ready to wax and ride? Or do they need a stone grind edge and set? Thanks for any help
  15. Just curious if it would benefit carving exposure by having it more inline with the ski market. Expose it more thru the ski shops (and the snowboard shops also)? The boards and new parabolic skiis basically turn on the same sidecut/radius and flex principles like carveboards. It's marketing to the same "X" market (meaning people who carve or wish to do full turns) and there seems to be more "older" cross over skiers joining the carving ranks. Older folks seem to have more $$ for new equipmentand are more into quality purchasing. By older I mean the above 40 or so crowd. Don't mean to insult there, I was using myself as an example. Do you think the ski/snowboard riff is starting to close, at least in the social sense. Especially with the new young breed in the parks/pipes using the new ski technology? Hey could someone tell me the diff between a Skawal and a Monoski?
  16. I thought Bordy had some excellent in depth info. I like the EC style, I also really enjoyed watching the "Norm" last year. That picture of him at Buttermilk SES05 Monday that 9th shot is just awsome. All you guys are smokin and all have different styles. I still think your style is going to somewhat reflect the type of equipment/terrain/conditions that you ride in. I want to learn all disciplines and meld them into my own style. Sounds like religion where there is a growth of fundamentalists emerging. My style sucks so I can't really comment in a negative manner (like an arm chair athlete). Bottom line- Carvers rip!
  17. Pat, the man with direction. Thankyou for showing me the way.
  18. Anyone ever use those p-tex "techno stixs" with the base repair pistol? It seems a bitch to get the p-tex to adhere to the base then it's a bitch to scrape off, any suggestions?
  19. Got a 2-year old Volkl RT178 rarly used. To stiff for me at a 135lbs.
  20. It would help and save time experimenting if the boards had a visible mid-point marked to determine binding mount position. It would help even more if they knew of a suggested set back due to the sidecut of the board. Trying to find a flat wall or flat table top to slip paper under to determine running edge contact points gets to be difficult on longer boards. I never thought about getting a long level (like they use to hang doors in the construction or masonry industry) but that is starting to be a bit of over kill on the tool market. Hey, while I'm griping how about some info provided as to the base/side edge bevel that the board was prepped with. Maybe an owners manuel with a big disclaimer attached "Carving may be hazardous to your marital relationship during the winter months". What's cool about Bomber is that if I post these questions the people here are overwelming in there responses and thoughts. OK I'm done bitching now where is my 5mm allen. Two years and I'm still stumbling thru the learning curve.
  21. ...Sat+Sun, Nekdut I met you at the Little Eagle lot last April I believe. Kid w/the blond pony tail. Gavin
  22. I was wondering if it would be judged like an extreme ski event or even similar to a surfing event. Competition really does accelerate the learning curve of the individual and equipement so I fully support it. I hope they do a video any exposure is good for the sport.
  23. So here I was perfectly happy drinking my MD-2020 wine (w/the screw cap) and some connosuer (spell check) has to tell me the virtues of wine from the French countryside. Thanks Nils now I'm back on the Swell Panik kick. I saw a guy last week on a cool looking black Winterstik. GB-T I was there on the actual weekend riding by myself in a blizzard. Last Martin Luther King weekend was great for carving but verty crowded and tapering off Sunday after lunch. I'll be up next weekend Jan 28-30.
  24. I rode the 168 in powder last week at Mammoth. Bad weather put me in the lower slopes so I used the 168 for tight tree riding in real deep stuff. I usually ride the 178 in the open powder bowls and it still works great in the glades but gets kinda clunky when your speed drops to much. I also use plates and Suzuka boots in walk mode, td-2's set back an extra couple cm. These boards can still hook up real well on hard pack. The board length is deceiving cuz your actual running edge is alot less due to the extreme shovel nose design.
  25. Yeah Ray, I was going to try just what you mentioned in moving the toe and heel block assembly, and Fin (thanks for taking the time to answer cuz you must be reeeaaallll busy at this time) i was going to try what you said about the shocks (hard front/soft rear) to get rid of some of the chatter on heelside. I also put my back foot about .5cm further back which hooks up much better. I was just thinking of a motorcycle type suspension where the front and rear are independent but need to work with each other. Thanks again for your time. Ray I'll be at Mammoth next weekend the 28-30th.
