  3. Ian, you didn't open a can of worms. Atom Ant does not seem to understand that the reason he was called out by Trailer Trash earlier, is due to his lack of understanding for how to register for a clinic, not the clinic he is trying to sign up for.

Please review the list of clinics that are available. Also, please note that these clinics are being done by volunteers, during their own free time. Your request to have an advanced level clinic will be taken into consideration. If one of the very generous instructors wants to take additional time away from their own riding, above and beyond what they are currently teaching, then we will let you know. We appreciate your interest.

  4. True about alpine snowboarding boots. We can accomodate alignment issues very easily in many of the bindings available to us.

Are both pics you? Nice turns! Im sure that since your boots are set up properly, you don't notice a difference while carving your turns. Alignment issues are felt more in transition, than while on edge. If you have alignment issues that are more significant (more than a degree), you would definately notice a difference in your carved turns, skidded turns, as well as in a variety of snow conditions!

Either way, lets not dilute this post from its origin too much. :biggthump

  5. In my experience, if you just carve, alignment is not an issue on skis. If you want to do more on skis than carving, alignment issues that didn't show up in snowboard boots can become a problem.

Politely disagree. If your alignment is off, that means you are not on flat skis. Which also means, no matter what you are trying to accomplish on skis, it will be more difficult...carving very much included in that.

Agree w/Skatha in trying on more than one brand for sure. As a fitter myself, I always give the customer 3 options to compare against one another. Each brand will have a variety of boots built to cater to different foot shapes, sizes, ranges of motion and such. There are many things to take into consideration here. While I completely appreciate the desire to save $$, I also see a huge value in a good fit that lasts.

  6. Please include me for both the race and the clinic. Thanks.

  7. Bringing back an interesting post, for the sole purpose of asking...WHY HAVEN'T YOU SIGNED UP FOR THIS YEAR'S ECES??? Curiosity got the best of me. If you wanted it to happen every year, well you're at risk of losing it from every OTHER year.

Our lodging deadline is this friday, Jan. 27th. Our deadline for the banquent and apres party is Feb. 8th.

  8. The best ski boot for YOU, will be the one that fits YOUR foot the best. Find a fitter in your area, or close to a local hill & take the time to try stuff on. Don't take advice from an online forum on what might be best. No one else can be in that boot, except you.

  10. Hilux, there is not a scheduled women's clinic at this time. I will check with the instructors that are running clinics & see if they have the time to add one. However, there will be a beginner clinic that your wife should consider signing up for in the "clinics" thread. She should still plan to come to the ladies ride. We keep the terrain mellow for all. It's more of a fun gathering :-)

  11. The conditions today were really GOOD! Wish I had tomorrow off. Don't have to work 'til 10, so I may try to make a run or 2 before work. Paul, if you are definately coming, give me jingle. Oh, and ITS FINALLY SNOWING HERE!!!

  12. Really? I have the 159 BX version of this - same topsheet - and love it to pieces. It's my go-to when the conditions are unknown, and I want to just go out and play. it carves like a piranha and loves the soft stuff. It hasn't had a lot of use, but seems to be holding up just fine topsheet wise ...

    Huh. "shrug"

Allee, Alex's comments are very specific to the board pictured in original post

  13. Buggs - I've been riding w/heel lift for many years now. I need it w/short legs! Without it, I tend to get pull into my hamstring. Its do-able, but not for long term. Why not get the smaller f2 heel block and give that a try? I would also try riding flat, just to see how it feels.

  14. Is the Starting Gate back into alpine? Last ECES they had a few Deeluxe 225's left, but that was it. (They are good when it comes to bootfitting though.)

The Gate does not have alpine gear any longer. They may have a few pairs of boots left over from previous seasons however. If you contact them, make sure to ask for Gary specifically, as he is the only boot fitter there.
